Buyer beware!!!
You will pay more than you should at the register. Here's what to watch for:
1- Several times I've had items scan wrong. If you watch carefully, and show them the mistake, they will send an employee back to check the price, and ultimately fix it. This process is slow and embarrassing when customers are waiting in line behind you.
2- Kent's has several different sales or promotions. You have to read each sale label carefully. They all the sale price in big and bold font. But some have in small print certain stipulations such as, "must purchase 12" (or some other quantity). If the item is on a lower shelf the small print is so small, you can't read it without laying down on the ground. You expect to pay $3. It rings up at $6. You tell them. They try and find it in the ad. It isn't there. They send an employee. They come back and explain that you have to purchase 12 ketchups, not just one. They apologize that the small print is so small and tell me that customers complain all the time because no one can see the small print. They have told me that their management has said they are aware but that there is nothing they can do.
3- Tonight I was purchasing 4 Coke products. The label read 4 for $5. It rang up at $8. They sent the employee. He came back and said, "It reads in small print only Coke so your Dr. Pepper doesn't count." I said ok, does this Coke Zero count. He said, "Yes, it is Coke." I said can I get two more Cokes to get the sale price? He said, "Yes." They got two more. I paid. I was looking at the receipt and realized that I didn't get the discount. A manger came over. She went and looked. Came back and said, "The small print says it is Classic Coke, the Coke Zero doesn't count." I said, well now I bought two more because the employee said I would get the discount. She said, "No." I said it is pathetic that you put your customers through this and won't refund me my money. She said and I quote, "It really is pathetic, but there is nothing I can do."
I live a quarter of a mile from Kent's. The next nearest store is a couple of miles. I will not shop at Kent's anymore. I'm tired of their dumb small print and many items that scan incorrectly. read more
