I am becoming very disappointed with this location. At first, I thought it was the cat's meow. It is open 24 hours, it's never crazy busy like Walmart up a few blocks, prices were always really good. They were fully stocked. Now, we find the prices have risen at Wincos to the point of them no longer being competitive with other merchants in the area like Walmart, Target, and Fred Meyer, just to name a few. On occasion, you might find a few things cheaper but that's becoming rare. Not only that, the other places mentioned take credit cards. Winco is cash only which makes them not such a good deal. Finally, one day we came in and wanted a quick bite to eat. We headed over to the deli where they have hot premade soups. We had to ask for the spoons, but they didn't have any salt, pepper, and definitely not crackers. I asked the employee working and he said that location never supplies salt, pepper and crackers. Ok, I can maybe see them not providing crackers, but salt or pepper? If it wasn't for the consistently empty shelved Walmart, we would not be shopping at WInco Bellingham. read more

Winco is a dollar-saving grocery store where you can find many items not available at mainstream super markets like Fred Meyer or Safeway. Although I don't go there a lot, there are certain things I love to get there, like their spices, dried fruit in bulk bins, jalapeño rolls in the bakery and my fave, Poke, in the seafood deli. The clerks are very polite and when I was there last, one even offered me a full chicken wing so I could try a new spice flavoring they were featuring. The poke is delicious, and melts in your mouth. At $7.98 pound, I was able to feed my whole family a special lunch. read more

I guess if you went to this incredibly depressing store two or three times a week you would find good bargains. What really irritates me, though, is that they will have a really good price on something (not a sale price) then you go back a week later and the price is way higher. So you can't count on the prices for your staples. Wal-Mart is much better at least in keeping its prices consistent, not low one week and jacked up the next. Also the produce at this store is the worst, just the worst. All in all, it is not worth it to me to shop here. read more

The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the place depresses me so much. The florescent lighting, the white walls, and the huge aisles just make you feel unwelcome. I am very disappointed in this company and their rule about not allowing the handicap scooters outside the store, this is one of the most ridiculous things I have seen in my life time. I went to the store in Bellingham Washington with my husband who is disabled, he has a bad heart, Parkinson's disease, I went in to get the mobility cart for him and was told it can't go outside the store. I had to go to the car which by the way was on the other end of the parking lot and walk him very slowly to the door. he was so tired and hurting by the time we got into the store we had to leave, I can't believe a company that would do something like that for people who can't walk. I will not be back to that store or any other store that treats disabled people like that, you think more of your carts than you do people, SHAME ON YOU! I am sure I won't get a reply from anyone but that's alright, I said what I had to say. read more

When you want to get some cheap groceries but still get a lot of food head here!!! The bulk foods selection is amazing! You gotta love the fresh deli and friendly cashiers. I would recommend going at off times if able. Shopping is so much easier when not rush time at Winco. read more

This was my first time in Winco. The guy I am dating came here to pick up some cheap beer before heading home across the border. A lot of the stuff is cheaper than Fred Meyer. I scored Kool Aid unsweetened powder envelopes for 10 cents. These have been discontinued in Canada, however, I loaded up on a few envelopes. I like to use stevia instead of sugar. The isles are well organized and they have a really large and varied bulk section. Customer service was awesome. The company is apparently employee owned, however, those I asked weren't Able to specify what exactly that meant but none the less there was a positive charm about it. Like a number of other reviewers, I went to this store a lot when it first opened because the prices were so low, but after a while they jacked up the prices and now most of the things I buy are far cheaper at Wal-Mart. But of course, Wal-Mart is always out of stuff so I found myself here at 4 p.m. yesterday. Big mistake. The clientele of this place make Wal-Mart look like the home of gracious living. I have never had more people try to run me over, never seen more people blocking the aisles by leaving their carts parked so nobody can get by, and have never seen this many weird people at once even on Wal-Mart's worst day. It was like roller derby for fringe dwellers except with shopping carts instead of roller skates. Couldn't get out of here fast enough and never going here again. read more

I was impressed when the store first opened but I'm no longer a fan. The prices have gone up, the produce dept. is sad and in desperate need of stocking more times than not. The store is clean and employees stocking are friendly and helpful but all is lost when you reach the check stands. There are NEVER enough cashiers to handle the long waiting lines which forces one to "self check" which is also crowded and MOST times the U-Scan is malfunctioning so the attendant has to be called over repeatedly to fix the problem. It is frustrating. Bottom line...I'd rather shop at Fred Meyer or Trader Joe's where there is plenty of "friendly" staff to check you out quickly AND bag your groceries AND they take credit cards. Sorry Winco...you have much to improve on. read more

I am glad to finally see a really big bulk foods section in a Bellingham grocery. There are tons of different kinds of wheat flours at between $0.31 and $0.61 (Even whole wheat!) . There is bulk cereal (Not just granola either!) for about $1.28. And if you like making sushi, which I really do, they've got sushi rice for $0.60 a pound. Bulk nuts, dried fruit and candies are also really cheap, and there are many other baking staples as well. They have some gluten free stuff as well, but the price is around the same as at the Co-op, and the Co-op has more variety. The produce section is very neat. I got some peaches and plums at $0.98 per pound. The plums sat on a counter for a week without ripening anymore. I put them in a paper bag overnight, and they ripened beautifully. I ripened the peaches the night of buying them, and they were so juicy, and nearly perfect! So while I love getting fresh fruit from the open air market near Trader Joe's, and also at the Co-op, I'll be getting some fruits and veggies to have on hand from Winco, since I know it won't go bad if I ignore it for a day or two. The prices on non-specialty items are comparable to Wal-mart and Costcutter, or are much better. Specialty items (Gluten free, vegetarian) seems to be about the same as the better deals at the Co-op. Since this place is employee owned and everything I've heard about them is very good as far as how they treat their employees, I am quite happy to split my business between WinCo and the Coop. read more

I started shopping at Winco years ago in Oregon. When moving to Bellingham I was very excited to see the Winco in Marysville. I made the trip there monthly for my monthly grocery stock up. I was delighted to have the store open in Bellingham. The prices are great, ( love their pizza dough and sauce to make at home), great selection and quality to choose from. Employees are so friendly and helpful. Very busy and crowded at times but the check out is quick. I've learned to shop at off hours and avoid the crowds. read more

I've been to Winco a few times now. The prices are indeed very good, compared to other grocery stores in the area. The produce is fresh and well priced, the sandwiches and ready-to-eat salads are also excellent. However, the gluten free breads and the rice milk are a bit more expensive than at Trader Joe or at the Food Coop. I am happy we have a Winco here in Bellingham! I will spend a lot of time and money here! read more

Here we are saving money at Winco but only four lines open. Manager if your reading this get your act together. Yes you need to save larbor to get your GP up. But I guess Safeway or Haggens will be my next shopping experience. Time is valuable for customers you want to be in and out so you can get home. Time 630 pm Sunday. read more

Winco has the atmosphere of Walmart where the customers are "characters" and the employees look like they hate to be asked for help. Their products, especially their meats, produce, and deli, are of the LOWEST quality that I have ever seen. It's like looking at the Dollar Store food section. All of their products have an expiration date of only 2 weeks until you have to throw it away. Yeah, you really get what you pay for. I will give them one star since they have really good prices on canned food and cereal but it's still not worth to dropping by Winco. read more
