I have been cutting my own hair for about 11 years. I refused to pay $20-$25 plus tip for a haircut. But in the past two years, I have lost a majority of my vision as a result of a disability. I tried several different methods in order to continue cutting my own hair. Unfortunately, I would end up with a crappy haircuts. I tried a couple of barbershops and found many similarities I wasn't personally a fan: long wait times, expensive, and unprofessional. I was ready to start using a 1 guard and be done with it, until I found Kathy.  I read a couple of good reviews and according to these reviews she took her time to produce a good outcome and her prices were not exaggerated. I gave Kathy a visit and have been for a couple of months now. I have been nothing but pleased every single time Kathy has cut my hair. I came to find out she has several years of experience cutting several different styles of hair (casual to military). She is an old-school/badass chick who is direct (probably why some people say she needs to work on her customer service) and takes much pride in her work. Time for an updated post on this shop. I moved here about a year and a half ago and have tried a number of barbershops that seem to be more custom oriented, but I just wanted a fairly simple tapered, low reg cut which none of these barber/stylists could seem to get a grasp of. I have a birthmark on the side of my head which I like to keep covered, it is above the low reg cut. This was like a foreign thing to them, and always left more hair than needed because they said they couldn't take that much off and keep my mark covered. I have been getting my hair cut for going on sixteen years like this and have never had a problem. I think they just wanted me back more often. After leaving all of these high priced barber shops I was really never quite happy with my cut, they were just ok. Not to mention they take way to long to cut your hair, to high priced, and always seemed unsure of what they were doing when it came to the way I wanted my hair cut. Now this barber shop is another story, and depending on where you live worth the drive in my opinion. Like I perviously said I have been getting my hair cut like this for going on sixteen years at my previous place of residence, and am retired from the military before that, so I know a good value, a good barber, and a good shop when I find one. THIS IS IT! No fancy chairs or couches, just your basic chairs lined against the wall with a magazine rack in the middle, a couple older tv's hanging in the corners, and a line of barber chairs and long mirror in front of you. What else do you need? A barber you might say, well they have that too. If experience is on your mind, no worries! I was lucky enough to get Deanna, who happens to come with seventeen years of experience. Not only does she have experience, she has been at this same shop the entire time. She loves her job, and the owner of the shop, that says something in my book. I explained to Deanna they way I wanted my hair, showed her the mark and asked her to do her best to keep it covered, low reg, 1/2 in off the top, but not to much or it will just stick up. From that description she put her expertise to work, and low and behold, a short time later, I have found my person! PERFECT CUT! The best cut I have received sine being in the area. I was pleased with the cut when I left, I did not feel nervous at any time while getting my cut, and today I still am pleased and feel it is the best cut I have had to date. Did I mention it was only $12!!! Bonus!!! I like to tip well for a good cut, and with a $12 cut leaving the remaining eight is well worth it. I would definitely recommend Deanna for your barbering needs. Cash is king, no cards! I like that in this kind of establishment. read more
