Such a great spot in German village. Although I'm not big on sweet coffee drinks their normal Brewed coffee is always great, and they usually have a flavored coffee. If you go in the summertime get the blueberry cold brew. Just do it. So good and refreshing. All the chocolates are amazing and a reasonable price. Bonus if you have a furry friend they have (what I believe is yogurt covered) dog bones. Can attest my pup is a fan as well. read more

The large "gift" box of specialty chocolates was only 3/4 full. How incredibly tacky for a company to shrinkflate something they market as a gift. read more

I love this place! I always say, "why don't I come here more". I come here for the coffee. Incredible choices on coffee , hot chocolate and mocha. I love the smell when I walk in. Store is small but always friendly service. The cold brew is wonderful which is my favorite. Always have fresh display of chocolates with a variety of flavors. My only down side is they need some options for vegans! I will continue to come back for the coffee. And this is a good spot to get chocolates and gifts for the people in my life. Sad the downtown location closed but I am glad this spot is open! read more

Such a cute little wine/coffee/chocolate shop! When you walk in you're welcomed with a large case of mouthwatering chocolates. To the right there was a large display of Mother's Day gifts. There's a few tables and then you round the corner and there's a decent selection of bottled wines from Italy, France and the US, and a lovely wine bar! I just stopped in to grab a bottle of wine and some truffles and I already can't wait to go back and do a wine tasting! I decided to go with the Buckeye, a Cookies and Cream truffle and a Buttercream milk chocolate. The cookies and cream was definitely my favorite, I could eat a hundred! I also grabbed a bottle of Moulin de Gassac that I can't wait to try! Street parking at the meters is ample in the evening when everyone has left the city to go home for the night. It's also within walking distance of Columbus Commons. read more

The coffee was great. The baked goods are not fresh. The date on packaging is from 4 days ago. Although they offered to exchange for a different item for the stale one (odd because most of where were left were also old), they didn't offer to return my money. :-( so I was just out the $4.00 I paid for the muffin that was tossed in trash read more

Popped into Winan's in German Village while visiting family over the holidays. It was especially warm out for December so we decided to walk around Schiller Park with a cup of coffee. We ended up purchasing a box of chocolates for family back in Indianapolis, and a few items for ourselves. (When in Columbus, you HAVE to try a buckeye.) I especially liked the dark chocolate covered orange slices. Great spot for a quick break on their patio, or to grab & go. read more

Great little shop. Staff were friendly and helpful. Kinda small, so I'm sure it gets hectic during rushes, but when we went in the evening it was slow but steady. There's a nice sitting area up front, and the place is beautiful. We were tempted by the candy and cinnamon rolls, but needed coffee and were in a hurry so we passed. Lately my need for caffeine has increased due to Baby K., and I sometimes join Sweetie in a coffee. She got a hot Caramel Kiss and loved it. I got a cold one and liked it, but not as much as I'd hoped. I pictured something sweet, but it tasted like good coffee with a bit of cream, and no sweetness. Certainly no caramel flavors. Still, it was good, and energizing; I'd definitely go back for something else. read more

I love this family-owned business, providing the best chocolate to the entire city. Mothers Day, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving -- get your chocolate and wine from Winan's. After the pandemic, I hope many new locations open back up. I'd love to have one back near Downtown and I regret not enjoying the smooth bar and coffee setup more often. If you have one in your neighborhood, consider yourself lucky! read more

Great little chocolate shop with a variety of chocolate truffles, chocolate candies and more!

Had several poor experiences with The owner of this location. She is unfriendly (older blonde woman); for instance, She has never once smiled at me even though I have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment over the past couple of years. She doesn't thank her customers for providing business, even when they tip. Last week, was the last straw for me and I will not be returning to this place. I don't recommend this business. read more

Stopped here as part of my Experience Columbus coffee tour. It was an incredible experience. The baristas were very friendly, told me the history of the shop, and even gave me some free samples of their chocolates. Turns out the owners started everything in Piqua, which is where they now roast all their coffee! The owners who once worked at a bakery in town, decided they didn't enjoy waking up super early to bake and decided they would split off and do something different. Coffee and chocolate became their new adventure and now we have Winans. I ended up getting a cup of their dark roast coffee, a cordadito and a buckeye and cookie dough chocolate and they were all delicious! They let me sample some of their meltaways, which are their best sellers and they were great! This is a great quiet place to get work done, meet a friend, or read a book. They even have outlets and free WiFi. One thing I wish is that they would serve their coffee and drinks in glass mugs/cups, but besides that a great place to check out! read more

Since "Chocolates + Coffees" is in the name, it probably comes as no big surprise that this place smells wonderful when you walk in! The space is cute, very inviting. The decadent chocolate treats are right up front as you walk in, and everything looks wonderful. Our choice on this visit were the adorable chocolate cars, which were quite tasty. The staff was very friendly and efficient on a busy morning with a little crowd. We grabbed street parking and took a nice stroll on a sunny, if brisk, day, as it is also conveniently located near Schiller Park. read more

Stopped in here during our visit to German Village. We had been here before so we knew that it was close by. We decided to walk from the Book loft but didn't realize how far of a walk it was. Oh well, it was good exercise and worth the trip to get coffee. The chocolates are great and top notch. We were there for the frozen coffee drinks as it was a very hot day outside and knew that this would help us to feel better. Order: Frozen Java Jolt, which is the Frozen Hot Chocolate with espresso. I got the Karamel Kiss. It was delicious. Not too strong not too sweet. We bought a white chocolate and a milk chocolate. My husband got a caramel machiatto. It was strong and a little bitter. Nothing like a Starbucks but a more traditional macchiato. He also tried a lemon pop tarte. It was light and tastey. read more

Starbucks who? This little gem is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Village. If you go during the early morning hours on weekdays, it's almost always empty. When I need my caffeine fix, I almost always go with The Himalayan, an extra spicy and peppery blended chai drink. I add a shot of espresso, too. Magical. The smoothies are solid if you're in the mood for something fruity. Mango is the way to go. Sweet and so refreshing on a warm day. Grab a drink and a chocolate (or four) and stroll down to nearby Schiller Park. *And they even have a water bowl outside for your pooch! read more

I hate to admit it, but in the past few years, I have become a coffee snob. So, throughout my coffee exploration, I have found two of my favorite coffees, ever: Prestis in Cleveland's Little Italy and Winans. I discovered Winans while walking through German Village -- one of my favorite spots in Columbus. I was on my way to a different coffee shop in German Village but found Winans to be appealing. So, I veered a little off my planned course and ended up in my favorite coffee shop in Columbus (and maybe ever!) The coffee is delicious! I remember my first trip to Winans: I asked the barista what she recommends (which I really enjoy learning what the workers recommend); she recommended the iced coffee and described it as having a slight taste of chocolate. SOLD. It's the best iced coffee I've ever had, and their menu has me going back as often as I can. I've only had a few things from their candy/chocolate selection but it's very tasty from my small sampling! The candy is a bit pricy, but what else do you expect from a fine chocolate shop? At the very least, the candy is a nice treat every once in a while! I usually just grab a coffee to go and explore German Village (no matter how warm or cold!), so I have yet to bring a book/laptop and grab a chair inside. read more

Loved this place!! We stopped in as a part of the Columbus Coffee Experience. The girls working were really friendly and gave some good advice for some chocolates to try. We loved the Highlander Grogg, the dark melt away, cherry cordial and peanut butter! We also got pour overs and they were really good! We took ours to go and walked over to the park and enjoyed our coffee and chocolates. It made for a fun little date! We can't wait to visit again! read more

Cute spot for morning coffee. It was hard to tell if they really do make their own candies and chocolates -- a lot of it looked imported and Chinese. I recommend ordering the Oregon chai. I have been meaning to try out Winan's for a long time and last night I finally did! My gang and I stopped by there for a little dessert after our dinner at The Brown Bag. Winan's is so cute! I loved the old photos on the walls and the lovely displays of decadent chocolates! Currently, they are prepping for Easter so they have a lot of chocolate eggs and bunnies. I found myself regretting my delay in stopping in because I definitely would have been buying candies for my family all of this time. I am so excited to shop for candy for my grandpa next time I see him! The candy selection is mostly chocolate but chocolate of all kinds. The chocolates are all beautifully-made and, although I didn't try any because of my milk allergy, my comrades all enjoyed what they tasted. I did have a latte and I was happy to see that they had coconut and almond milk. I prefer coconut milk but unfortunately they didn't have any so I went with almond but my latte was very tasty. My boyfriend had the Easter-themed Peeps latte and he really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very quiet. I noticed a couple of people studying and I have to agree that it would be the perfect place to enjoy some delicious coffee and treats while getting some work done. I also noticed that they had dog treats and a doggie water dish outside. I always love seeing a place that remembers the furry creatures, too! Winan's is awesome and I am so glad I finally made it in! read more

Got a few salted caramels and coffee when we were meeting friends at Schiller park. They were all great including the triple-espresso, dry cappuccino, regular coffee and a mocha. Chocolate is amazing. Coffee is amazing. Customer service was horrible!! We walked up to the register. The girl at the register didn't greet us... say hello.. or anything. Too bad the service has gone down recently. The two girls working weren't friendly or professional. They seemed to be more concerned with each others drama than my order . Great service, cute shop, quality chocolates in German Village makes for a great experience. I stopped in on a weekday around 5:30 to an empty shop. The girl behind the counter was very nice and knowledgeable about their products. I ordered 6 wurtles in almond, cashew, and traditional pecan all in milk chocolate. They were smaller than I am used to, but, were a good 2 bites. The nuts and caramel tasted fresh and the chocolate was creamy. I also got a truffle with chocolate curls, which I gave as a gift. Plus, a coconut haystack, which I would not recommend. The sweetened coconut doesn't blend well with the choc late and had a poor consistency. A way to solve the issue would be to toast the coconut. Just a suggestion. I am dying to try their straight up caramels and melt aways! They had a lot of gift style boxed chocolates and nuts, and coffee for sale. They also had a nice cafe list of coffee drinks, which looked yummy, but I didn't have time to partake. They have indoor and outdoor cafe tables. Overall I will definitely stop back. First off, my whole order of chocolates came to less than $5 for 8 pieces. Amazing compared to other chocolate shops. Also, the service was a real pleasure. read more

What if you like getting work done in cute coffeehouses that smell good, but you don't always feel like being surrounded by, oh, 24 other people who are fighting you for internet bandwidth and outlets? Hopefully there will never be 24 people in Winans at once because at that point it would probably cease to smell good. It's very small and very friendly. There is wifi (but only a couple of outlets), and you get to hang out surrounded by chocolate, and it really, really does smell amazing. I haven't asked directly if any of their dark chocolate is vegan, but I've never found one that was among the packaged products with ingredient labels. However, they have those little cups of oatmeal on hand, many of which are indeed vegan (but a couple of which aren't, so check the labels individually). But the chocolate-having is obvious. I mean, it's Winans. They have chocolate. They do indeed have coffee and tea, too. And their very own cup sleeves that you can get stamped toward an eventual free one each time you come in. So it's not as close to the Book Loft as the other two coffeehouses on that stretch of German Village; it makes up for it by being in the no-time-limit parking zone. read more

Winans is the Le Chocoholique of the German Village, and like every time I compare destinations between the two bourgeois neighborhoods, one is sleek modern urban to the others sleepy village feel. Where the Short North's chocolate heaven is stepping into trendy bar territory Winans is happy to remain a quaint candy/coffee shop near Schiller. They have really good chocolate pretzels, as long of other chocolate drops and mints. They also serve Brittles, Karamels, and Wurtles. The Karamels are the best. Coming in wax paper they remind me of my neighbors back home, selling them for a church social. These though are made with special care and skill. The interior is very, very small and typical in design. Though comfy when not busy, it has a nice window view of the street. There is a couple bistro tables to sit on the sidewalk. Coffee here is decent, nice, but not notable. I have a drink every time I come, but it is the sweets the make this place rock. read more

Ooooohhh, this place is good. Really good. If you like coffee and chocolate, or just one or the other, run, don't walk, to this new coffee shop in German Village. Hand-made chocolates and other artisan candies line the shelves. A skilled, cheerful barista will whip you up a cup of awesomeness. There are also tempting baked goods, and seasonal desserts. I got hot chocolate, because it was nearly bedtime, but all the coffee drinks looked and smelled divine. They close at 8 pm, which isn't ideal for a coffee house, but people kept trickling in, so the barsita kept the doors open longer. I think this would be a great place for a date, if they extend their hours. There are just a few tables for sitting, maybe three or four, so this is not the place to linger with a laptop. It's a place to go with a friend and treat yourself. Go ahead, you deserve it. read more

I came here to check it out with one of my international friends, who is trying to visit as many Columbus coffee shops as she can. I told her she HAD to try a buckeye while in Columbus, and this seemed like the place to try it. Sadly, I was rather disappointed...I like the buckeyes I make at home better...these were wayyyy too sweet, and the texture was off to me. I also tried the toffee & salted caramels, which were just average in my book. As far as the coffee drinks go, although I didn't actually try any, I tend to judge the quality of coffee shops by their ingredients...this place had only commercially-made sicky sweet syrups. Not high-end to me. At any rate, maybe some of their other chocolates are better, but the ones I tried I was not impressed with. read more

I've been frequenting Winans in the morning to get a jump start on my day since my recent work-related move to German Village. In the warmer months I opted for a large Iced Coffee - Winans ranks in my Top 3 for Iced Coffee. I can't tell if they use a cold brew, or if the coffee is made strong and then cooled down. Either way, it's bold and refreshing. Now that we've hit the cooler time of year, I've tried order a medium roast and dark roast with mixed results. But the latte I ordered the other day was really fantastic. The complex taste of espresso really came through and wasn't overpowered by just a hint of sweetness from a pump of caramel. Winans is more than just a coffee shop. They bring in chocolate from their Piqua, Ohio shop. While I haven't gotten around to sampling their chocolate quite yet, I would recommend getting a slice of their Swiss Almond Cake to go with your coffee first thing in the morning. Perfectly sweetened with the delicious taste of almond. read more
