I have previously had great experiences with Wimsatt in Waterford, but not today. Last year I purchased siding and shingles. I over purchased J-Channel (5) and starter strips (2) for siding my garage. I took the items back a little after the return policy, but the gentleman said it was fine since they were in perfect condition and and they would give me a store credit instead of returning the cost to my card. I figured awesome, I'm sure I can use it again later, I appreciate them doing it so I'm not out the money. A year now goes by and I need some additional material. I went in today, with the return receipt, to ask how much I have on file as credit, since the return receipt only specified what I returned, not the amount of money. While asking this to one of the workers the manager who is about 10ft away says something along the lines of "what's he want?" in a way that made me think he thought I was trying to weasel something from them. The worker either ignores him or didn't hear him since he just started looking up my account and said he isn't seeing a credit on my account. After a minute of searching he hands it to the manager who asks him again what he's trying to find. The manager, probably thinking that I can't hear him, snickers and says something along the lines of "what does he want? This was a year ago, what does he want us to do now?". I then step over closer to them and speak up, telling him that I returned to items and was told a credit would be put on my account. Because I don't do this stuff for a living it's not like I went back there next day to buy more things so I never checked on it, but I kept the return receipt. The manager starts giving me the "what the hell do you expect us to do for you if you didn't come back for a year" speech, and that they should not have have accepted the return in the first place. Again I told him I didn't need anything from them until now and was told I would have a credit on my account. The manager starts getting aggravated saying he's not sure what I want after a year, he can't just credit me the money between $35-45, he guessed, wouldn't give me the exact cost and again, it wasn't on the return receipt. He said he could maybe give me $10 off if I need to buy something, or give me all of the stuff back. I told him what I needed, shingle ridge caps, but was told I'd have to make them since they only come pre-made with architectural, not 3-tab. Didn't know that, no big deal, I can do that. He then went back on his annoyed "I don't know what you expect, you waited a year to come back" rant. Told me I could buy something for $300 and maybe he'd take off $20-30. I told him that I don't need that much and they got to resell what I already purchased, double selling the product. He responded that they write it off and thrown it in the trash. Wrong, I helped carry the stuff back to their warehouse and handed it to the guy to put back in the box. He said well they shouldn't have accepted the return. I told him then I should have been called after telling me they made a mistake and ask that I pick it back up. He started to go on another speech about waiting a year and I told him "just give me the f**king stuff back then". Yes I swore, but my response was in an annoyed way, not in an angry screaming match way. He then got up and came up to me telling me he doesn't have to do anything and that he doesn't appreciate my "f**cking attitude". Yup, the manager swore at me. We walk outside and he continues on telling me how he doesn't have to give me sh*t and not to come in asking for f**king stuff when I waited a f**king year. I calmly told him at this point that if this was a mistake then all that had to happen is that his people should have called me and told me so and dealt with it a year ago. He went off on me again about waiting a year. Again, I was told I would have a credit on my account, how was I supposed to know there's an issue if you don't communicate it to your customer? He then starts to say he doesn't have to give me a f**king thing and leans towards the door like he's going to go back inside. I tell him just to give me my stuff and it's over, I'm out of here. He does so. He leaves and tells his people to bring it out. While waiting he then comes back, up to my car, to tell me next time I return something not to wait a year before coming back to a store, and read the return policy. Seriously? I told him they should have contacted me then and that they need to train their employees about return policies. His employee accepted the return and told me my account would be credited, I fail to see how this is my fault. He turned around and walked away and I told him to have a great day. Again, I've been in the store a few times and the guys there have been great, but this manager needs some serious schooling on customer service, dissolving conflicts, or maybe just needs to retire. read more
