Delivered material late, then wouldn't except return when their was extra material that they measured

We had Nick come out to our store to measure and assess what would need to be done to tear out, lay down the floors and put everything back as well. The attached quote was revised for doing the job over the weekend since two weekday working days would be more of an interference to our work week. Nick said the weekend rate would be about $3k more since their workers are part of a union. Nick also had the quote and team skilled enough to take apart counters and furniture as needed. Nick was very professional. I get why this company is popular for the auto shows. They get the job done, no matter how big or small. They even followed up the week after the first visit and measurement and quote to see if we had any questions for them. Matt and another guy showed up to install the floors on Wednesday. They arrived before 8am. Their usual core work hours are 8am to 5pm. The two man team finished half of the floor down on Wednesday. They also had a team with them that actually moves the furniture around to allow the team to lay down the floor. It was an additional $400 for the movers for the furniture. Matt and team will come back on Thursday to finish up the floors and plan to come over before 7am to make sure they finish on time. They have a separate crew that installed the floors, one that moved around furniture to accommodate for laying down the floors and another for picking up the garbage and tools the next day. They were reasonable priced and went above and beyond and even helped us move some items and assemble a big counter too. The floors look great. I would definitely recommend them and most certainly use their service again too. Store is off the Milford exit on 96. read more

Went there for carpet in our bedroom. Selected and scheduled a measure. Then learned that they require 1/2 down when ordering and the other 1/2 the day before the installation. To us, that is risky as there would be no recourse if there was a problem. The salesperson, Dylan explained that they warranty the labor to fix anything should any problems occur. When I asked to see it in writing he reported it is only a verbal warranty and we couldn't get it in writing. We chose another carpet store. read more

I really wanted to like these guys. My husband and I chose them to recarpet our finished basement. Customer service seemed great at the time. And then... 1) Installers were quick and friendly. When they left we discovered an entire side of the basement that hadn't even been tacked down. Someone came out within a few days to fix it, but he acted like I was wasting his time. Tacked down the carpet and then we found out a week later that part of the room hadn't been correctly stretched. Repeat from the first time. 2) We picked the carpet solely because we were told that it had a lifetime warranty against pet accidents and wear and tear. I can't begin to tell you how many times I asked explicitly if it covered all pet accidents (that couldn't be cleaned) as well as wear and tear from scratching. I was PROMISED it was covered (all materials, minus labor). A year later when we had some carpet scratched up, I called to have someone come look at it and was told no problem. Guy arrived, quickly told me that no pet damage was covered and left. I never heard from them again even though I've called twice (that was 4 months ago). 3) The manager and sales people are friendly and maybe want to keep their word, but at the end of the day the installers and "field" people are rude at best. I do feel like I was lied to and once they got my money they were done. I'd rather go to a chain like Lowes or Home Depot even if it means paying more. I will never again use this company and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone else. read more

Today I had the McNabb Carpeting team to my house to stretch carpet in three rooms. They arrived exactly when they said they would be there (which was not a 4 hour window, but promptly at 9:00). The two gentlemen were very professional, moved all my furniture and provided lots of suggestions. They finished in a short matter of time, totally cleaned after they were finished. I will definitely look to McNabb for all my flooring needs and recommend everyone do the same. read more

I intended to make a purchase in the morning after putting hours of research and shopping into my educated decision. A specific question regarding installation of the product (engineered tongue and grove flooring) was asked later that evening. I called was told to watch internet videos!!!! Or call the manufacturer ( they didn't have that number). The run around received by Jim before purchasing their flooring showed me what could happen after the sale. I will go elsewhere. read more

I I worked with the Donald McNabb Flooring Company from 3/28/19 to 04/14/19 at the 2019 Car Show in Washington. D.C. And from 7/18/19 to 8/6/19 I was home, collecting my unemployment insurance, because our work slows down between the July and August every year. I returned to work on 8/7/19. When I did ot receive my 2nd unemployment check I called to find out why. I was told "Donald McNabb reported that I had returned to work with them on 08/01/19." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The name on the report to the Unemployment Office was Ms. Gilliam at (304) 906-4431. After leaving 3 voicemails, she finally answered the phone. When I stated the situation that what she reported was not true. She says "that might have been a typo"? A typo? She screwed up my unemployment benefit with a typo and I stated, she should straighten it out. Ms. Gilliam says "she works for the "Employer" and she can't talk to me but have them (Unemployment Office), call her. Huh? I'm not her lakky or her secretary!!! She admitted to the typo. She sent the report. She screwed up my unemployment insurance and she wants me to call the Unemployment Office and tell them to call her? She accepts no responsibility in what she did. She made the mistake and I have to prove that I did not return to work on August 1, 2019. read more

I am so very pleased with the new carpet we had installed in three of our bedrooms. It was a joy to work with our salesperson Charlotte. She was efficient, detail oriented and prompt which meant that everything went exceptionally smooth. The carpet was ordered and installed in a very short amount of time. Every person we worked with was polite and professional. That included not only Charlotte but also the installers who were awesome and the gentleman who dropped off the trailer in the morning. I would give it zero stars if possible. I wish I had read the reviews here before I got into this mess. They did not send the salesperson out to look at the areas to be carpeted. This is incredibly important! I thought they were professionals and knew what they were doing. They did send out a guy to measure and he seemed to know what he was doing, but somehow it all got lost in translation. The salesperson appeared to be new and probably had no real understanding of the complexities of measuring and installing carpet; much less which way seams should run. So the installers arrived with too much carpet--enough to carpet one area twice, and too little carpet to fit another area. This meant a second trip at a later date and a further delay in installation. The installers said they were not responsible for the accuracy of measurements or the carpet order. I believe that. They seemed to have much more common sense than the people in the store. Then, upon the advice of the salesperson and directions given by him, the installers put the seam parallel to a set of windows that ran the length of the house. OMG. Does it show! It makes this incredibly expensive (I bought top of the line material) look bad. While searching on the internet for some way to fix this mess (apparently there is not one), I came across the standard way of carpet installation which clearly states that seams should run perpendicular to windows to minimize appearance. Guess you'd better know all this; don't expect them to. I would not waste time or money with this folks again. As a matter of fact, if a carpet salesperson is not interested in coming out to your home to see the area to be carpeted.... don't even waste your time. They need to know which way seams should run, which type of carpet to recommend, and be able to advise their installers with any special instructions. Thinking of going to McNabb's with the idea that they will offer you this kind of service? Think again. And go somewhere else. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! We went to McNabb's for our new house after purchasing some carpet in the past that we had someone else install. They sent someone out to measure the area before we moved in. When the guys came to install they did a TERRIBLE JOB! I have so many seams and visible seams in areas where they should have never cut. The installation guys didn't put carpet in the closets and when I said, "Wait a minute, I want carpet in the closets, they said no one measure for the closets" WHO DOESN'T INCLUDE THE CLOSET!!!???" They same guy who measure the first time came out again and his explanation of why he didn't include the closets was that the previous owners realtor said, "there wasn't carpet in the closets now, why would you carpet them?" THERE WAS NO CARPET ANYWHERE!!! The previous owners had ripped it out and were walking around on the pad or subflooring! Never was it communicated to us that the measurement was that different than the original and our bill was going to be basically double. We were supposed to have extra carpet for two rooms, I have pieces left. The installation guys didn't even lay the carpet the same direct as to follow its "pattern"!!! I have pieces laid between doorways and it's the worst experience ever! HORRIBLE SERVICE, COMMUNICATION, AND INSTALLATION!!!! They were supposed to install May 6 and 8 and after they screwed up, it finally was finished Friday, June 6! They claimed they would not charge us for installation. The carpet was $0.25 sq ft, the pad was $0.49 sq ft. Our billed should have been around $1,000, our initial deposit. However, they charged us another $1,000 and thought that was fair. Because it's been so long since deposit and final product I cannot dispute the charges with our credit card company. Also, they did a terrible clean up job and left nails in my driveway. I now have a flat tire and am out another $250. read more

My wife and I used McNabb for a pretty substantial job; remove/replace old tile, wood, and carpet on our main floor-totaling over 2000 sq ft. Chose them in part because they had their own installers, were local, and had all 3 flooring materials, making it, we hoped, a smooth process. Wrong. I've worked with many contractors on many different projects over the years-some great, some not as good...I've never been so disgusted with a contractor to the point of writing a negative review, until now. We did get good service from the salesperson and the quality of carpet, flooring was acceptable. We were expecting that level of service for the work itself-in fact made that point clear from the beginning-that we did not mind paying a premium for high quality work, but it was not to be. Job ended up taking much longer than expected, which was not a huge issue in and of itself, but the overall quality, and willingness on their part to do it right, was amazingly poor. Details: they started by removed tile from main foyer which was going to be a big, messy job-we made that point clear to them well before the job started-both to the salesperson and the guy that did final measurements... First day-nobody showed up, and no call....bad sign. Second day, 1 person came and after 6 hours had removed less than 20% of the tile...ended up taking 3+ days just to demo the tile. sign of things to come. First 2 weeks was 2 guys doing wood and tile. Show up at 10am, full hour lunch, gone by 5pm. and after 2 weeks they were insinuating it was our fault for the fact that the job was taking so long! They actually pulled 1 of the 2 guys off our job after 2nd week to start another job-and lied to me about it! I only found this out by my inside contact, after the fact...nice..Big quality issue; We replaced tile with wood in small 1/2 bath. In this bathroom the new flooring squeaks horribly-was never an issue before. When we pointed this out, they simply explained that the lower weight of the new material (wood vs tile) created space between the subfloor and wood, resulting in the excessive squeaks. OK, if that is a known variable in this type of process, WHY DIDN'T THEY ANTICIPATE IT AND SECURE THE SUBFLOOR? Logical question, which was answered in silence. And refusal to fix. To be clear, I had them come back out to look at it after job was complete and was told again that it was not their fault, and they refused to correct! Subsequent calls to Manager Chuck resulted in NO CALL BACK! So, I now have a brand new bathroom floor that will need to be replaced by a competent installer. i.e., not McNabb. Also to be clear, I never pressed them for better price, to work faster, etc. Actually they had to do a few extras, which I told them up front to let me know how much extra $$ to add-so this was not a matter of a bad deal for them.
