Had a severe craving for a really delicious hamburger. After searching yelp, I came across Whimpy's burgers and fries. I figured I'd give them a try especially after reading about their hamburgers on their website. I am so glad I did. The hamburger was absolutely fantastic. Hot fresh and you could tell it was actually meat not filler. Since it was my first time and I don't eat a lot anyway, I opted to get the kids wimpy burger meal with a small shake. The fries were hot and seasoned good. Not like seasoned fries -which I don't like but cooked with a flavorful seasoning making them crispy and tasteful. Sweet tea rounded out my meal. I got the chocolate shake to take home with me but it almost didn't make it. The shake was thick and good. The service was excellent. The young people were friendly and attentive to customers. I was greeted when I walked in the door and the young man patiently walked me through my options when I had questions or needed to take my time to decide. The place was clean. Lots of seating room inside with a great casual vibe. Perfect for family night, dates and groups. From the outside you wouldn't know this was a gem...the customer service was amazing. She greeted me with a warm smile and walked me thru the menu with great patience. I made an online order for a burger meal with fries and a drink. Also a 3 piece chicken strip meal with fries and a drink. Picked it up after filling my drink cups. When I got home , I opened my burger and it was meat and bun. That's it! The online order page doesn't give you the option to specify what toppings you want. What a HUGE disappointment. I went to Wimpy's on National Cheeseburger day with two of my coworkers. I ordered a number 2, double cheeseburger with fries and a drink. There was no one in line ahead of us. Both of my friends got their food while I sat there for over 10 minutes with Nothing. Finally, as my friends finished their lunch, out comes my food. Incredible manager. Her team ensures clean restaurant and restrooms. Have never seen any type of disorder. Dining anywhere, especially during the lunch rush hour, should be a relaxing and peaceful experience. Without question, this establishment is that! Quality food, good prices. Parking is easily done...quick access to Getwell off of Goodman to the west of the restaurant and Olive Branch to the east, or Memphis to the north. Great location! I was very impressed when went for lunch today. Wimpy's has by far the BEST burgers around. Fresh meat and NOT preformed patties. Offer a lot of free extras for your burger. Our burger, fries and onion rings were cooked perfectly. It was spotless inside and the staff was cleaning, filling ketchup bottles, I even saw them cleaning out bottom of the coke fountain drain and took the rack in back to wash and bring back. I was impressed. Especially with Covid and flu season among us. Looked as if was sanitizing and wiping dry the drain. I have seen people go for refills and pour a tad out in drain at places and pouring bacteria in it so I was impressed that Wimpy's was sanitizing that area. I'm never noticed any other place do that before. There was a lady manager working that was very sweet. She was on top of cleanliness for sure. In my opinion, the crew was working smoothly together due to the managers ability to communicate nicely to her team. Didn't see any of them acting like not happy with working. She seemed like a pleasant and likable person to be around. I love Wimpy's! We buy a lot of the fundraiser City Saver books. One can pay for one's books in BOGO'S. Trust me, they are worth the money and supporting schools and so forth at the same time as saving money on meals. And NO, I don't work for City Saver! I might should though, because I'm sold on City Saver fundraiser books! I love the fact that one can watch your meal being cooked and assembled at Wimpy's. I'm not fond of eating at a place where I can't see what they are doing when fixing my meal. I've read so many sick news reports of people that are lacking in good judgement doing things to orders! Every time I go I experience a clean store and I am greeted with polite, friendly service with an exceptional burger that leaves me ready to come back again! Customer service is fine and the ambience is whatever but it is way over priced, the prices on the photos on Google are different from what they are in store and they charge you a whole dollar to add a slice of cheese. Then when you actually get the food it's meh. The fries are decent but I would not recommend the burger. Overall I'd say spend your money elsewhere and skip over this place. Placed an order for pick up. Ordering process in the website is pretty straight forward. Got a text saying the order was ready 5 minutes earlier than the original time - BONUS! Went in to pick up the order - ooof. There was a line to get to the counter (yay business coming back) but no dedicated "pick up" station or area. When the order was brought out, gave a quick check of it and found that 2 orders of French fries had been left out. Okay, well that happens right? They got the 2 fries and off we go home. Unfortunately, there were several other lacking of attention to detail issues that were hiding deeper in the bag. One Buffalo chicken sammich didn't have the onion and tomato that was asked for. The Oreo balls didn't have their chocolate sauce it's supposed to come with. With the French fries you can get different dipping sauces so we said "yeah let's do this" but there were no French fry dipping sauces to be found. But, most glaringly, most disappointingly, most ridiculously - one cheeseburger didn't have any cheese on it. The cheeseburger. Did not. Have. Any. Cheese. Come on people, it's in the name of the item. How do you miss putting CHEESE on a CHEESEburger? Best burger place in a country mile. Ordering is easy, just walk up to the counter and then take a seat once you've ordered. Food comes out pretty quick, and it's a quality burger with so many toppings you can choose to add. The sides are just as delicious! The environment is typical of a burger restaurant, nothing too special, just seating for the customers and a few TVs. Having placed the order online Monday 19th around 5:45pm, I was informed that upon arrival to call, and it would be brought out to our car. Upon arrival, no other cars/customers were there. I really loved this place. It's my first visit and I found it through the nearby feature on the Yelp app. Surprised I'm just now trying it. The food itself wasn't spectacular, but it was good, and there are several things that I think sets this apart from competition. First of all it has a theme that I think everyone can agree we all love and the comics make it cool. They must have some good lawyers to be able to use these rights! There are similar burgers around, but they don't offer any choices like Wimpy's does. I've said many times that a burger joint needs more than just burgers and shakes. These guys have plenty of toppings, different cheeses, and plenty of sandwiches and salads. There is a lot of food to try. I really liked the place. It's clean and cool, but I liked how spacious it was. They could have fit twice the tables it has in here, but this way people don't have to squeeze by you to get through. It was comfortable. I like that. I had a hard time trying to decide if this is fast food. It is counter order and you get your own drink, but they bring your meal to you. I guess it's partial service. You clean your own table, but they'll go behind you if needed. Disposable plates, napkin, cups, and cutlery are what you get, so I guess it is fast food. The thing that isn't like fast food is that they cook by the order rather than having a supply of food ready to sell. It took about 10 minutes to get my burger which is ok. As for the burger itself, while it was pretty good and I liked it better than similar cooked burgers by their competitors, it will not make my list of best burgers. With that said, I'll still order it again. And I'll eat it too! I prefer think patties at least 1/2 pound cooked medium with a little pink over a fire. Charcoal preferably. And the only flavor should be beef and the fire it was cooked with. My problem with these 1/4 lb griddle burgers is that they are overcooked, charred, and greasy but not juicy. Mine had too much garlic salt as well. I'm pretty sure that's a potato bun and it was a little sweet. It was durable enough to hold together until the end. It never got too messy or unmanageable. I loved the lettuce. I love when I get a nice leaf of iceberg like this instead of chewed up rabbit bites. The Wimpy's sauce was ok, but I'll skip it next time. My slice of tomato was about the worst part of the burger. I'm sure the tomatoes vary, so I'll probably get a better one next time. Oh, and red onions are always a hit! The battered fries are good, but of course they're frozen. The portion of fries is smaller than competitors'. I did not try the onion rings, but I watched someone stock them in the freezer. Frozen fries are one thing, but onion rings must be made fresh in my opinion. That's the difference between cooking and simply selling a product. Tea was great! Fresh brewed Luzianne and you can't do better than that. The lemonade had a sign saying its fresh made. For the double with cheese, fries, soda, and tax, I spent $12. I'm fine with that if they get my order correct and serve the food hot. I'm really between 4-4.5 stars, but because of the way Jacob C responds to his guests and thanks them for their feedback, I'll do 5 stars. That doesn't necessarily mean that this was better than a steakhouse who I give 3 or 4 stars to, but it's 5 stars for what they do here. I am more lenient to fast food and don't hold them to the same standards as full service places. Again, I really liked it and I'm glad I found it, and looking forward to coming back. read more

Are you kidding me? I work in this area and it is known for one thing -- having almost nowhere decent to eat. We were out for a quick lunch jaunt to our favorite local area: Lost Pizza, but decided to swing past the Kroger first to pick up some domestic junk as you were. We saw the Wimpy's Burger and did a quick Yelp on it and decided to give it a shot. Surprise! The burger was actually fantastic, and has been on my last 3 visits since. The patty is thinner then you would get at a lux burger joint, closer to a Five Guys style, and has a nice sear crust on the outside for added flavor. The default serve-up is with some batter-dipped fries. I'm not sure what these are dipped in but when I first tasted them, and try to keep with me here, it almost tasted like a funnel cake batter on a well seasoned fry. Every time I try to explain this people seem disgusted, and then they taste it. Yeah. It is that good. The biggest issue here is the same one I have with five guys, the prices do not reasonably scale for the dressings added to the burger. If I am going to spend $12-$13 on a burger and fries I might as well hit LBOE (currently burned down, until mid october) which, as probably the best burger in Memphis, runs the same price range! Then again, I cannot get to LBOE, get a burger, and get back to work in time to take a nap like I can with Wimpy's -- so.... 4 stars! We had dinner Saturday night the place is dirty. My husband asked if one of the employees would change his gloves as he was touching everything without changing them, no hair nets. When I sat down at the table my shirt sleeve stuck to the table. The tables were dirty, a bucket of dirty water was on one table, chair rails were dirty, napkin holders were filthy, and the broom was leaning up against the drinks. Ordered 2 double burgers add bacon and cheese. They left the cheese off and all the toppings off except for bacon and meat they didn't even add the cheese. We called the restaurant and a worker told us they would give us a refund for the burgers, but when the manager got on the phone, he refused to refund unless we bring the burgers back.
