That said, we have no idea how well it has been maintained throughout the years. I've been living in my home for 5 years now. I've never had an issue with my septic. The moment I did, Scott was at my house within a very short time. (He actually came highly recommended by Mr. Sewer Rooter, in Painesville. That's another great review there, because as you know, all these local boys are in cahoots). Scott quoted us a very reasonable price on a Thursday. My hubby and I thought about it over the weekend and decided on Monday to give him the job. He came over prompt and courteous Monday evening. He just happened to have an opening to do the job the next day! Wow! The boys arrived at 8:00 am Tuesday and had the whole job buttoned up by 1:00 pm. They were super nice, explained everything to me and really set my mind at ease. We are very happy with our new leach field. It was an immediate relief and improvement on our septic system. I received a message asking if they 'could' reschedule the appointment after I already made arrangements to be off work for the appointment. When I attempted to call Roto-Rooter back there was no answer despite being during their stated business hours. When I called back the next morning trying to confirm the appointment I was told that my appointment would not take place due to another job that they had. When I called the person (Joyce) out for cancelling my appointment without speaking to me she tried to deflect blame by stating that her message mentioned that they couldn't service me on the scheduled date (not true, she asked if they could reschedule) and that trying to contact me twice (I was at work both times she called) sufficed as notice. When I pointed out the absurdity of this statement she simply refused to take any accountability for any wrong doing and tried to deflect the issue back on me before simply hanging up to avoid accepting any responsibility for her actions. If you plan to use this company you should be aware that they will punt you if they have a better job come up. They have no regard for their customers and will not accept accountability for their terrible customer services practices.

Started out having him jet a line, ended up needing serious excavation and repair of a lot of old,…read moreimproperly laid and then improperly repaired sewer line, encountering abandoned gas lines and masonry tile along the way. What was going to be a one day fix ended up taking two days of work as we discovered the old problems,and fixed them, but he was hard at work the entire time. Saw him work for hours with a spade clearing dirt around the abandoned gas line when the bucket digger would have been too risky. He wasn't cheap. But he was prompt, professional, and solved a problem that had existed on again off again for years that ultimately ended up arising because last time the line was worked on, they went cheap instead. Good local guy, I know his family.

When I decided to sell my house, I hired Cole's to inspect my septic system so I could get thigs…read morefixed so it could pass inspection. They said my septic tanks were fine but the water level in the distribution boxes was too high. They said that the crumbling D-boxes were letting ground water enter the leach fields. They recommended I replace all 5 D-boxes and get the lines hydro-jetted. I paid them $5000 for that work but noticed that the water level was still too high. They came back out and recommended I get a TerraLift process for another $1600. While I was waiting for them to do that, the buyer hired an inspector, and he found that the tanks were crumbling, and the leach field was too old (48 years) and unable to absorb enough water. Since the septic system failed inspection, the buyer is making me replace the entire system. I researched the TerraLift process that Cole's recommended and found a lot of bad press on it. It's banned in many townships because it could allow sewer water to enter the water table. Other articles said that it's, at best, a temporary solution. Cole's is the only septic service company I could find that offers this service. Every other company I called said it's a waste of money (and potentially illegal). So, Cole's inspection didn't catch the fact that the tanks were in bad shape, and had me pay $5000 for work that didn't bring the system up to spec. They also recommended a questionable service to fix the problem.

The septic tank needed to be cleaned but more importantly, the septic pump was broke and Don and Dave fixed it so the system works perfectly now. They explained to me how the entire system is configured and that there is an alarm system that needs to be set correctly inside the house to warn us of problems. We moved to the Cleveland area from Chicago about 2 years ago and we had minimal knowledge on all these septic items. Again, Don and Dave did a great job with their work at our house while Carol helped me isolate what might be the problem over the phone when I first talked to her.
