Girls working at this restaurant were the rudest people I have ever came across.. I was thinking what a cute little town, expecting southern hospitality. I dont understand what we did All I know is that the people working that day did not want us there, so we walked out.

Very clean, different look interior with the long table set up. But beautiful look. I sat counterside, ordered fried chicken and 2 sides. Jalapeño cornbread came out. Little bites of goodness.....so tasty. Salad was good. Ranch, yes. Mashed and gravy very good.. a little salty. Fried Chicken? Crunchy, light, moist, delicious...excellent!!

Oh my goodness, talk about a glow up! New location is so spacious compared to original. There is even seating outside. The food has also improved! The Mexican cornbread is packed with flavor! And the mini biscuits are so delicious, you don't even need butter. But of course you should add butter. Fried fish was perfectly fried. The okra was just right, not breaded to death. The black eyed peas were just what I desired, flavored perfectly with some good ole bacon. The bread pudding was good but definitely a different take on it. It's a white chocolate thick sauce almost like a frosting. Bread is moist but again not like traditional bread pudding. Definitely will be back and is a must if you are touring the town of Laurel.

They must have been better at their old location. It's all family seating, with long tables. We were told that they had just moved into their current location. We had high expectations of the food, only to be let down in a big way. Boss Lady ordered the fried chicken, which was cold, not crunchy at all, and lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes and gravy were just ok. She said the BEP was the best thing. I had the fried pork chops (ok taste but overcooked). The greens were sweet (hells no!) and the creamed corn was bland. One of my biggest grips is the beer list. Some of the names were familiar, BUT none of them had a description...PLEASE add a simple description of the beers. We won't be back.

We were delighted to find the new location and it was such a neat vibe! Our server was as pleasant as could be & waited on us with the best of southern hospitality! We got there at 1:30 and they close at 2. They had pretty much sold out of all the entrees for the day. We did order and the food was delicious but was served very lukewarm and the Lima beans had far too much salt. We would definitely go back & give them another shot but would go earlier to be able to have a better selection!! Laurel, MS is a cute southern MS town!!

This place is a Must if you are ever in Laurel, Mississippi!!! You sit where they tell you, so u may be sitting with some Strangers so talk it up and make some new Friends!!! The prices are Cheap. All dinners are $9.50 (meat, 2 sides and cornbread/biscuits) Add some Homemade Bread Pudding for $2!! The Meatloaf was yummy and the Best Mashed Potatoes I have had!!! Chicken Fried Steak was also good!! We prefer the White Gravy!!! Mac n cheese was ok. Not the worst! Get there early. They are only open from 10-2!

    Souvenir Cups!

Crispy diet coke. Great service. Maggie is a great waitress! She was very quick and helpful!

While in Laurel last week, I discovered this newish restaurant (opened last October) downtown and visited for lunch as Wilson's Commissary is open every day but for lunch only. Inside it's clean looking and attractive and is a table service restaurant that serves Southern style cooking. Parking is free on the street or in nearby free parking lots. The menu has a list of meats and veggies with salads and sandwiches too. Dessert pies and alcohol are also on the menu. Their entrees come with one meat and two vegetables and jalapeño cornbread or a homemade biscuit for $9.50! Yes, that's right, $9.50. I ordered the pot roast that comes with rice and picked lima beans and black eyed peas for the veggies and a biscuit. First to arrive was the bread basket that had mini biscuits and mini cornbread with some butter and they were good to eat. Less than 10 minutes my lunch arrived. The pot roast was shredded in brown gravy and over a bed of white rice. Man, that was some excellent meat, gravy and rice! The roast was very tender (no knife needed) and flavorful and the gravy and rice melt in my mouth. Truly delicious! The lima beans and peas were also delicious with the peas having bacon mixed in them. Finally, my table service was very warm and friendly. With the quality of taste of my meal and at that price point I must give a 5 score here. How can I not? Wilson's Commissary is an excellent place to dine for lunch 7 days a week. Laurel is fortunate to have it and I predict success here.

I ordered the grilled shrimp basket with new potatoes (small red skin potatoes) and it comes with bread. There were a generous amount of shrimp but not a lot of favor. I would suggest finding a table first if you're dining in. Enjoy!

There were nice options for seafood - crawfish, crabs, shrimp, catfish, etc., with preparations from fried to boiled. 2 in our party shared the catfish and shrimp platter, and took some home for a late night snack. 1 shared the seafood platter and a pound of boiled crawfish. The staff at the counter assisted us, and were patient with our numerous questions. The seafood platter had a deviled crab, fried catfish, large fried shrimp, boiled shell-on shrimp, corn on the cob, boiled potatoes, fries and the choice of cole slaw or a side salad. It was delicious, and even more yummy as leftovers for brunch late this morning. I wish I could give them 10 stars!!

This is mainly a seafood restaurant that also serves steaks, country fried steak and fried chicken. They have boiled shrimp and fried seafood with all-you-can-eat catfish which seems to be the star of the show here. They have fried options including oysters, shrimp, stuffed crab and chicken. They also have a baked redfish with crawfish sauce and boiled potatoes that I ate, which for the price, it was unfortunately really small and for around the same price in many other spots I've had a much larger serving along with a lot more crawfish in the sauce. For the area it seems very popular and there are lots of other catfish places around but this one seems to have a bit more variety. You also get coleslaw and hushpuppies with your meal (which is the same practice for many of the other spots around this area). Like the majority of places in this region their coleslaw is sadly NOT to my taste as it is far too sweet and is the mayo style while I'm on team vinegar and mustard based coleslaw with no mayo and zero added sugar. I literally would rather have plain sauerkraut or kimchi than this kind of coleslaw. Most people around these parts will by quite happy with the food here but a lot of it just isn't to my taste. The redfish had potential but I can get a way bigger portion size with a lot more food on the plate in New Orleans and all along the Gulf Coast for around the same price or cheaper than here. I sampled a boiled shrimp and like most of the boiled seafood in this area I found it way too bland to my taste and I would rather just boil my own. The service here was really great and they stayed on top of keeping drinks refilled. Overall most people from the area will probably like this joint but if you're used to seafood with a Creole or Cajun flair like I am then you will likely find it pretty bland here.

Flatware is the CHEAPEST sold to restaurants, terrible, just like the cheap flatware used by The Loft. Server was friendly for sure but not professional. None of the servers could tell you anything about any of the wines... except for the difference in color! Owners, teach your staff about the wine list! Your servers should know what a Malbec is and that it's from the Mendoza region in the Andes of Argentina, for example. We each had a dish that included a flatiron steak. Sadly our steaks were incredibly tough and chewy. I was able to eat ZERO of it... first bite... chew chew chew until it arrived at its destination, in a paper napkin. Same outcome for bites two and three.... Both ended up in my napkin! The server failed to notice that everything on my plate was gone but the steak appeared untouched! She should have noticed that the other foods were disappearing but the steaks sat appearing untouched on our plates. Green beans, shrimp, pasta dishes all a 10 out of 10! We will go back as overall this is a decent place to eat! However, still waiting on the down town Laurel restaurants to class it up! After all, we are a tourist town (HGTV-Home Town fans) and our guests are here daily from all over the country and world.
