Very clean and welcoming environment but it's overpriced. The portions are entirely too small for the prices.

We found this place on our way home today from Meridian, MS. What a great place to stop in for…read moresome home cooking. The tables were really long and you just fill in, which is great for meeting new people and striking up a conversation. The service was quick and the food came out quick too. They brought out mini biscuits and cornbread muffins to start which was also a nice treat. The blue plates are great as you get pick two sides, and the best part is the cobbler of the day or the bread pudding is considerably a side.... The plate specials are only $10 and drinks are $2.50, a great value overall.

We had our dog in an enclosed stroller, and they allowed us to bring her inside. The waitress was the sweetest and made our visit really enjoyable. She even brought our dog a bowl of water. I ordered the country fried steak, rice, and a side salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The country fried steak was delicious, cooked perfectly, and paired well with the rice. The rice came with brown gravy, which I wasn't informed about. I had wanted white gravy, so I mixed the brown in and added the white on top. After that, I couldn't taste the brown gravy at all. The salad was a generous size, and the dressing was delicious. I thought sitting at a commissary-style table might feel odd, but it was actually fine. I would definitely recommend eating here while visiting downtown Laurel.

I visited this restaurant about a year ago and boy have things changed. My first visit, the food…read morewas good and the buffet was kept cleaned and stocked. I went there again on June 7, 2026 and it was awful. First, I wouldn't exactly call the place crowded and they had more than enough servers and workers present, but tables sat unbussed for far too long. The buffet was a disaster with food spilled everywhere. The price for an adult buffet was $24.99, which is ridiculous for what they offered. I went on seafood night, which just meant one buffet line had a bunch of cheap shrimp, blue crab, and fish dishes with some crawfish. No crab legs or higher end seafood anywhere. What they offered was slightly passable too. The rest of the buffet was just low-end slop and I mean that in earnest. There wasn't one dish marked so you had no idea what you eating. I asked one of the workers what one of the dishes were and she said she didn't know. The rolls and cornbread were old tasting and dry. The desserts were just one small display case with two types of cake and some cookies. All which were tasteless, dry, and food service buys. I went at the height of dinner time - a time when everything should be fresh, but it seemed more like closing time. The food was very mediocre and tasteless and kept at a slightly warm temp, not even hot. The food was so bland, I doubt they use any seasonings. They had all side dishes with only a few meats thrown in and those were pork and chicken, the inexpensive meats. (When I first went there they had pot roast, etc). Lastly, the ambience of the place was also horrible. There was so much noise coming from the kitchen area, all you kept hearing were dishes clanging and pots banging, really bad acoustics in the place. I couldn't have a nice conversation with my friends over the loud din. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was an all around horrible experience and I don't want to see others spend $25 on a bad buffet. I don't know if this place has new owners now (I suspect it does) or what. But I will never go there again and if you want to have a good meal and not get ripped off, I urge you to look elsewhere too.

This is mainly a seafood restaurant that also serves steaks, country fried steak and fried chicken. They have boiled shrimp and fried seafood with all-you-can-eat catfish which seems to be the star of the show here. They have fried options including oysters, shrimp, stuffed crab and chicken. They also have a baked redfish with crawfish sauce and boiled potatoes that I ate, which for the price, it was unfortunately really small and for around the same price in many other spots I've had a much larger serving along with a lot more crawfish in the sauce. For the area it seems very popular and there are lots of other catfish places around but this one seems to have a bit more variety. You also get coleslaw and hushpuppies with your meal (which is the same practice for many of the other spots around this area). Like the majority of places in this region their coleslaw is sadly NOT to my taste as it is far too sweet and is the mayo style while I'm on team vinegar and mustard based coleslaw with no mayo and zero added sugar. I literally would rather have plain sauerkraut or kimchi than this kind of coleslaw. Most people around these parts will by quite happy with the food here but a lot of it just isn't to my taste. The redfish had potential but I can get a way bigger portion size with a lot more food on the plate in New Orleans and all along the Gulf Coast for around the same price or cheaper than here. I sampled a boiled shrimp and like most of the boiled seafood in this area I found it way too bland to my taste and I would rather just boil my own. The service here was really great and they stayed on top of keeping drinks refilled. Overall most people from the area will probably like this joint but if you're used to seafood with a Creole or Cajun flair like I am then you will likely find it pretty bland here.

To see across the dining room one has to shield one's eyes with one's hands.... Paint the walls gray, and put some shades on those bright lights! Best to ask for the other dining room which has a much better environment for your eyes and senses. Flatware is the CHEAPEST sold to restaurants, terrible, just like the cheap flatware used by The Loft. Server was friendly for sure but not professional. None of the servers could tell you anything about any of the wines... except for the difference in color! Owners, teach your staff about the wine list! Your servers should know what a Malbec is and that it's from the Mendoza region in the Andes of Argentina, for example. We each had a dish that included a flatiron steak. Sadly our steaks were incredibly tough and chewy. I was able to eat ZERO of it... first bite... chew chew chew until it arrived at its destination, in a paper napkin. Same outcome for bites two and three.... Both ended up in my napkin! The server failed to notice that everything on my plate was gone but the steak appeared untouched! She should have noticed that the other foods were disappearing but the steaks sat appearing untouched on our plates. Green beans, shrimp, pasta dishes all a 10 out of 10! We will go back as overall this is a decent place to eat! However, still waiting on the down town Laurel restaurants to class it up! After all, we are a tourist town (HGTV-Home Town fans) and our guests are here daily from all over the country and world. Train the staff, learn the wines, ditch the cheap flatware, think about adding cloth napkins... and paint the dining room and dim those flood lights!
