This was possibly my worst dentist office experience, ever, and I've had some doozies in my 60+ years. The dentist was rude, didn't listen, and apparently doesn't care much for his patients. When we got there the receptionist (his wife?) was working out on a treadmill in her office, in skimpy gym clothes. I thought, okay, unusual, but to each his own, and sat down.
I was called back promptly enough, There is no dental assistant - just him. The chair is just behind the receptionist's desk, with an open window and an open hallway to the reception room - everyone can hear your conversation and share their germs if they're sick. I asked for gas and was promptly told that it was $30 extra. I said I didn't care - I told him I had extremely sensitive teeth and had hard to deaden gums and needed gas to help me through the procedure. He complained that I should've told him ahead of time about the gas (to which I replied that I had done with the receptionist when I called for the appointment). He put on the mask and started the gas. Five minutes later, I told him the gas was having no effect. (I've had gas many times before, so I know when it's not working, and I know what it feels like). He said rudely (and I'm not kidding here), "your talking doesn't help it work." Five more minutes and I explain that it still isn't working. His reply: "well, it's ON, so I don't know what to tell you." I said "I hate to pay for something that I'm not getting." His reply was "do you want to continue or NOT?" I had no choice - I had an abscessed tooth that needed pulling and was due to fly out of state shortly thereafter - no time to get an appointment elsewhere and still be recovered enough to fly. So we continued with the most painful shot in my life and with tears running down my cheeks. I waited to write this review, but my feelings have not changed. I cannot recommend this dentist to anyone, especially not for children or people who expect a modicum of politeness or caring. There's a reason he's cheap. Since then I've asked around and several of my coworkers and my husband's had similar experiences with him. A good dentist isn't cheap, but will be worth it. From now on I will use Dr. Chris Freeman or Dr. Bright in Tyler. Both are wonderful, kind dentists with wonderful staff. Wish I'd found them first. read more
