Place has faster turn around times than Tempe camera and the pictures turn out great (for a hobbyist like myself). A little on the expensive side but they are closer to me so it saves on the inconvenience of driving to Tempe. I needed negatives developed and scanned for a client ASAP and Nick promised he would get them back to me next day. I even paid extra nearly $30 per roll. A week later I got one roll back and still had to wait several weeks for 4 other rolls. He fails to provide a working phone number and he fails to reply and communicate promptly via social media. So you literally can't call to get an sort of update on your order. When he does respond he gives you the run around about how they are almost done and they'll be in your inbox later that day and weeks go by and still nothing. Then instead of taking ownership and apologizing for delays and lack of communication he basically tells you you're welcome to take your business elsewhere next time. This is bad business and not how you should treat your customers. There's no value in using their service the scans have dust all over and they scratch your negatives. Go literally anywhere else Phoenix photo lab is cheaper, quicker, and they actually give a shit and value your business. read more

I wanted to like this place because they are open Sundays and had a chill vibe at first, but after dealing with the owner a few times I'll be going back to Phoenix photo lab. They miss their projected delivery dates by weeks, offer weak excuses, take no accountability for their mistakes, and insult patrons. The owner will promise anything to get your money then sit on your film for weeks after the projected completion date. They don't return texts or calls. They pushed some 3200 film 2 stops instead of 1, making it look awful, then blamed me for it.... read more

Absolutely the WORST SERVICE. I dropped off two lenses that needed repair. It took more than a month to even get word on how much the repairs would cost or the status. Basically, "Don't call us. We'll call you." Then when I called Nick for the fourth time, he finally told me the costs to repair the two lenses. (On a previous call, he said that the delay was because of missing parts from China.) The costs were prohibitive. So he told me that he found a used one lightly scuffed on the outside but in good condition. He quoted me the price. He told me that he would order it, and he would call me when it got in. I just called in to see if it had arrived. Brandon, the manager, told me that they never order used lenses, even though that is exactly what Nick told me they would do. No apology. Just downright contradicting what I was told. Incredible! It cost me $35.00 to get the estimates on the two lenses, which they will not refund. I told Brandon to get my two lenses back by this Friday. He told he would. I will update this post if, as I suspect, they will take weeks to return my lenses to me. I used to do business with the previous owner of Wilson Camera, Rudy. Great service. Really super. What a contrast! The two young men who are now running the shop could care less about customer service. took a passport photo yesterday for my family, and picked it up today. The quality of photo is great, but they missed one copy of my wife's photo in a bag. I found it quickly when I checked the bag, and they found the missing photo from somewhere in the shop. They also messed up with the photo size for Australia passport, totally wrong size. So a customer service guy fixed it quickly. But the photo was cutting very unprofessional way by a hand, so all edge of photo not even, two copy of photos are not identical. very poor quality of photo cutting. It is not worth to pay $60 dollar for those very poor jobs. But, I didn't want to deal again, decided to take a photo in different place. BTW, the customer service guy didn't wear a mask, so I felt very unsafe there. read more

Just moved to AZ form Nashville and was recommended to get my film development done here. Great location and the employees were very respectful and quick with the development procedures. Wanted to get a nice point and shoot camera for the hubs, and this was a great find for all things camera. Brandon is so knowledgeable about everything and explained the differences in brands (because I really knew nothing). I really appreciated the personal interaction that was so much better than a big box store. Cameras are what they do and they know how they change year to year. And they provide free classes and services, too. Also, if you want an older film camera (apparently they are popular) they have several display cases. An excellent experience. During a road trip from Texas through New Mexico and Arizona, I realized that we should have a better camera than our cell phones. I wanted my first time at Sedona and the Grand Canyon to be properly captured and my iPhone 6 plus was not up to the job. So our search began in Scottsdale and ended at Wilson Camera. We met the owner Rudy and his wife Misty, they were very nice. I was not aware of all the factors that can make or break a camera's functionality. Rudy made sure that I understood how I wanted to use the camera by questioning my expectations. He then gave me a range of options in all price ranges that would best fit my needs. After I chose the right camera, Misty worked hard to link up the technology (blue tooth and wifi options) to my phone. Pretty awesome that an app will location tag my photos when I take them with my camera. I am sad that Wilson Camera is over 1000 miles away. I would definitely recommend them your business. I have become accustomed to doing business from a keyboard and forgot how real customer service enhances the transaction. I'm a small business owner, so of course I want to see small businesses thrive. BUT, I have a story to tell. I am telling it in hopes that this conveniently located camera store will change its ways. I came into this store looking to BUY a camera battery charger for a very small camera battery. The store sells them - usually - but was out of stock. Heading on an excursion and wanting to have some juice in my camera for a little budding photographer in our family, I asked if there was any way they could charge my camera battery with a charger they weren't planning to sell individually (i.e., one that came with a different camera, etc). REMINDER: I was looking to buy one, they didn't have one to sell me. The guy in the store was super-nice. He checked around and came up with a charger that was to be sold as a part of an assembly with another camera. He plugged it into the wall and charged the battery I'd brought in for about 30 minutes while we went to eat (Delux is right next door, and we eat there ALL THE TIME, so I had planned to buy my own charger and plug it in one of their outlets, which their super-friendly servers and the AWESOME ownership would've allowed in a heartbeat!). 30 minutes later, we head back over to Wilson's. The guy says "it maybe has enough for 20 to 30 pictures in it, are you sure you want to take it?" Um, yeah, guy, I had told you we just wanted to charge it quickly on our way to our excursion. We had told this guy our plans to run eat, then head out! I said "yeah, we're done with lunch, and we have to leave." He said, and this is the part where my jaw hit the floor: "that'll be $10.93." WHAT? REMINDER: I was looking to buy a charger, they didn't have one to sell me. I don't want to pay their &$(#%&*%& electricity bill, however. Not exactly a tangible good or service! I thought he was kidding. Because seriously, who charges MONEY to charge someone's very low-voltage camera battery for 30 minutes? I've never charged my clients for such a thing. And I'm an attorney! We practically coined the phrase, "nickel and dime!" I handed him $11.00. As I did, I told him him in very nice tones "I am floored. I seriously had no idea you'd charge me. I am absolutely floored. I had no idea you'd charge me." Massive hints, guy. He said, "I probably should've told you there would be a charge." And then, with a smile on his face, he gave me $.07 back. **** UPDATE: I saw the owner responded. The person minding the counter very clearly told me he was charging for the voltage. I went to BUY, not "rent." And yes, I am a lawyer and I charge a fee for my services. You're a camera store, and you charge a fee for your...electricity? Paper boxes? NO - your products! You charge for products. Your service, your expertise - not voltage, not taking a thing out of a box and then putting it back in. See the other one-star reviews. Refused to book appointment for Digital Photography Workshop for Groupon customer. Have tried to book appointment for workshop 5 times and each time we get the runaround--anything from we're too busy to hold the class, not enough students to have the class, we're not booking anything right now call back in August, to we're not booking Groupon customers. The funny thing is that I even tested them to see if they just weren't booking at all or just not Groupon customers. As it turns out, when I wouldn't mention the Groupon, they had plenty of room and no problem booking! It's only when I mentioned the Groupon that it became an issue. They sold over 300 of these Groupons to users. I can't imagine that we are the only ones who have been denied the ability to use our Groupon. Very unprofessional and we do NOT recommend. read more

This is not meant to belittle or bash a small business, it is only meant to be honest. This place cannot compete with AMAZON or EBAY, and it's not just because of competitive prices, it has to do with attitude. They are nickel and dimers at this shop, and the markup on every item is ridiculous. 7 dollars for a pack of AA batteries? 100% markup on point and shoots? That's just too much in this day in age. The reason this place is still around is because it's a historic store in Scottsdale, the shop itself has been there for like 50 years, they have a lot of senior citizens people who go there to get their ancient film processed and to shoot the breeze, and honestly that is what is keeping this place open. The old folks who don't know what Amazon is and who don't care about spending 10 bucks for a AAA battery, they are keeping this place's lights on. I love when a small business can offer something fresh and new compared to the big giant guys, but seriously...the markup here is just crazy, and with sites like amazon, eBay, even craigslist...with perfectly good gear, for hundreds of dollars less? It makes no sense to pay so much. The selling point this store has is that they will give you personalized service and teach you how to use a camera...okay, well that still doesn't justify overpaying hundreds of dollars. Considering YOUTUBE and the free, easy ways to learn camera work, it just doesn't really cut it ya know? Does that mean that the markup is basically covering the cost of an extremely pricey "how to use your camera" session? Anyways, there are better deals to be found, and in this modern day paying too much for something is not cool. I also find it very tacky that the owners respond to yelp reviews with such a standoffish attitude...If you are getting low reviews, it isn't because yelp is evil, it's because people are seeing a pattern of not-so-good service. Worst experience EVER!!! I ordered an item and was told it would take 7-10 business days... 30 days later i finally get a call saying my item has arrived... I was upset that no one could take the time to call me and explain to me that the item was gonna take longer than told to me! On top of that, they didnt even offer me a price break on the shipping (which was only $10 dollars, but it was the principle of the matter for me...) not to mention, this was my first visit to this company... upon browsing around and asking about certain items, on my list of things to get, i was told that they didnt have anything i was looking for and that I would have to order it... I will NEVER visit this store again nor will I suggest this store to any of my photographers on staff!!!! Worst EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Stay Away!!! On my quest for a camera bag, Wilson was my first stop because of location. Although they do carry cameras, lenses, and some accessories, selection is really limited. The gal helping me was very nice and suggested I try their other location. Unfortunately, I didn't see enough there to entice me to do that. After camera shopping all day we decided to stop in on our way home. The first thing I noticed was that even though the shop was small, they seemed to have a decent selection of hard to find supplies. And they still develop film :-). We were looking for a new camera for my wife's new business (jewelry design), and for general fun. We shopped at every big box store in the valley. And no one was particularly helpful. When we stopped in and explained what it was we needed, they were quick to offer a few suggestions. After narrowing it down to two possible options we decided on a Nikon P100. My wife was very hesitant to spend such a large sum of money. However the people we talked to did a very good job of easing her anxiety and guided us in the right direction. The service and help was excellent. The prices were good, and the support after the sale is fantastic. All their cameras come with a free hour lesson, and a manufactures extended warranty. They handle, and file all the paperwork. They also offer classes, that I believe are free. Overall I am very impressed with this service. And on my next purchase (hopefully a nice DSLR for fun) I will be going back. It's worth paying slightly more than a Sam's Club of Best Buy for the quality of service you receive. And when you factor in the extended warranty you actually come out a little ahead. read more

Upon reading the other reviews, it looks like we can predict Misty H. will comment on this with a customer is always wrong attitude and defend their poor business ethics. Instead of bashing the customer why not reevaluate and provide a reasonable solution for both parties? I make it a point to support local businesses! Shame on me for not reading these reviews prior to making my purchase. And... shame on me for not performing the proper research, like I normally do. I recently visited Wilson before leaving the next day for a wedding in Miami. I needed a new lens since I am currently rebuilding my equipment after an unfortunate theft. I had a budget of 700 - 800 to spend and wanted a 50MM 1.4 Canon lens for my Canon 7D. I was talked into and sold a 18-250MM 3.5-6.3 SIGMA lens. I appreciated what I thought to be professional advice and trusted the information given to me to be true. I should have followed my gut. I asked their employee if their prices were comparable to prices I may find on the internet? He said yes and also mentioned that I would receive customer service that the internet couldn't offer. The example given to me was that I could come in anytime to have my lens cleaned. After returning from Miami and editing the photos I had taken I was more than disappointed with the quality, the amount of noise, most photos were blurred out if the zoom was used, etc... I know I have a lot to learn about photography, everyone can continue to learn and better their skills but these photos were night and day compared to the photos I had previously taken using my 50MM 1.4 Canon lens. I thought if I was paying an additional 400 dollars I would be receiving a better lens and higher quality photo. First, I did a search on the internet and found the SAME lens, brand new for half the cost. 100% markup??? (one of my shame on me moments) Second, I called Wilson and explained my situation to the man who sold this lens to me, he apologized and said he would trade the lens I purchased for the lens I actually wanted. GREAT or so I thought. He said there would be an additional 350 - 400 dollars left over and that he wasn't sure if he could give me cash back or a store credit. He said he needed to discuss with the owner. I said OK, I prefer cash back so please let me know. He never calls back and I hear nothing. I waited roughly 2 weeks (I had an emergency surgery or this would have been handled sooner) before making a phone call and speaking with the same employee that I had been dealing with. I tell him you never called me back... I would like to know if I will be receiving cash or a store credit and when is a good time to exchange the lens. He started back peddling immediately explaining they could not take my lens back, wha what??? You already told me you would exchange it and now you aren't doing anything to rectify the situation? I was dumbfounded and extremely upset. We hung up and maybe 30 minutes later he calls back and says that he would like to offer me a class to teach me how to use my camera. I politely turned down the patronizing offer and thanked him for his time. So, in summary... I was sold a lens I didn't want and convinced it was a better lens, sold a lens with a 100% markup attached to it, lied to when I was told they would exchange said lens then basically told I didn't know how to use my camera by offering me a free class. I had purchased a Nikon 3400 Camera from the owner (Rudy Henninger) who boasted about a WI-FI feature on that camera that sends pictures to your phone, well when the feature did not work I had asked if the 7-day old camera could be returned for refund, I was told NO all sales final!!! REALLY 7 days old camera???? why never no in store credit addressed??? How come I was never for-warned about a possible issues with camera??? No one can tell me when you own a business that you don't know what issues the cameras your selling are having!!! REMEMBER BUSINESS ETHICS? I felt like "HEY WE'VE GOT YOUR MONEY NOW! I bought a Christmas gift for $39 at this camera shop. When I realized that the person for which I had purchased the gift, could not use it, I wanted to return it and get my money back. But, the store told me that "all sales are final" - no refunds. Only store credit was available. So I looked around to see if I could find something else to buy. I located a flash memory card, but the price was ridiculous - double the price that I paid from another supplier in Phoenix. I couldn't find anything to buy, so I am stuck with a refund that I can't use. I will never go there again. read more

I am surprised to see that the non-recommended reviews are all good but hidden and the ones that show are all one star. What a strange combo! All I can say is what my experience was...couldn't have asked for better. Mind you, it was a simple passport photo but I thought it was great. I had tried a few drugstores for a passport photo buy there was never anyone working in the photo departments. I figured for the extra $2 it took to go to Wilson, I'd be getting guaranteed service and probably would look better since it wouldn't be done in a drugstore under fluorescent lights. The guy who helped me was friendly, courteous, and got my pictures done quickly. He showed me before he printed them to make sure they were ok with me. I did read reviews about the pictures not being accepted by the passport people, but mine was. I had a small issue with size, but honestly, I think that was my fault because my printer shrunk the form to fit the paper and thus it printed the box too small on the form. The picture fit into the passport office measuring window but she cut it down a bit to fit my oddly sized form anyway. Either way it worked and my passport looks great. I DID talk to the man working there about some of the people who said their pictures were rejected and he said in that area (Biltmore/Arcadia) he gets a lot of women who come in caked with make-up and ready for glamor shots. He says he tells them they might not look natural enough for the passport office, but they insist on having their picture taken like that. They then get upset when the passport office won't accept them because they have too much make-up on and don't look like themselves...Eeeeeeeven though they were warned. Bottom line, I'd go there. Decide to pay more and buy local to have support. Went in for the included cleaning. Apparently, just external cleaning. Had a spot on the sensor so paid the $65 to have it cleaned. Returned and was told it was not able to be removed and it would cost hundreds at Nikon. Was recommended to probably invest in a new camera if that was the case. Didn't even get the external cleaning. I realize the spot on the sensor was my doing but have thought abut it and sort of hoped maybe I'd be given a bit of a discount considering I am no better off now. At least it would have given me some kind of faith to stay with a local shop if I were to buy again. They could have offered at least to put that $ towards a new camera. Found them online and called to see if I could schedule a session for my 8 month old. The gentleman who answered the phone let me know they do not take infant pictures and referred me to JCPenney.... First of all they have an entire link on their site for childrens pictures, also where is there a JCPenney and since when has anyone called a portrait studio when they wanted JCPenney grade pictures. I ordered a Canon R6 on April 7th after talking to new owner Luca. I was told it was in stock and ready to ship and that he would email me the next day and let me know when it would ship out. That email did not come. I called on the 10th to see what was going on and Luca said that his Canon rep was on vacation and he would talk with her on Monday and would get back to me then. Again he failed to get back to me. This went on for 2 weeks. Promises made by Luca and promises broken by Luca. I cancelled my order. Now, I am having a difficult time getting Luca to refund my 15% deposit he required before he ordered the camera. He has said he will send the refund but has not yet done it. This young man has a lot to learn about the importance of customer service and if he does not figure it out soon he may not be in business long! read more
