I took an intro to photography class here and it was great. Dean took us through all the basics of the settings on each camera, ranging from Program to aperature and shutter priority to white balance to discussing lenses, flash, and equipment like tripods. The class is quite long so be prepared - and eat before because I didn't and I was starving! There were about 12 people in my class so it does take some time since he helps each person find each thing on their prospective camera and everyone has different settings. I wasn't a beginner beginner taking this class (have already been shooting on Aperture priority) but it definitely helped me understand more about settings I was already using. This is a good class if you're brand new to a camera, but also if you've been shooting for a while but mostly on auto. read more

I took a class here tonight to understand some features on my dslr camera. I learned a lot from this class and the teacher made it enjoyable for us with his humor. Got a great groupon deal for an " Intro to Photography class" and couldn't wait to attend. Over 3 months, I always had some work event pop up the day of class, and had to cancel at least 4 or 5 times. Dean was so understanding and allowed me to reschedule. I finally attended the workshop last week and was so impressed. It really was a well organized workshop on how to take photos. He really broke it down from basics (lens, aperture, shutter speed, modes etc...) so now I have a better understanding of my camera. He's well versed in both Canon and Nikon cameras. I took the intro to photography class. Dean walked us through every dial of my dslr. I would not have known what those were for if it were not for this class. He gave great examples and never had a problem with answering any questions. I felt very comfortable and learned a lot. This class is exactly what it is- a "DSLR Introduction to Photography Class. He walks you through everything. I would highly reccomend it. I have taken other classes with other instructors and I would have to say that Dean by far- explains everything so much better and clear. Keep in mind I did not have any prior background to using a DSLR and took his class. The only thing I would have loved is if we went out and took pictures shortly after the class. I took Dean's Secrets to Creative Photography class and having taken other workshops from various places, I wasn't expecting much. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised. The curriculum was unique and his delivery was easy to understand. More importantly, it was interesting. If you are looking for honest and straight forward critique, take one of his classes. I was really impressed with the camera class I took this past weekend. It was thorough enough to go over everything you need to know in order to start taking advantage of that awesome new camera you just got without getting way over your head into topics you aren't ready to learn yet. The instructor, Dean, was able to answer any of the questions thrown his was and explain things in terms us wannabe photographers were able to understand. The class was 4 hours long but it ran a little longer since there were plenty of questions and additional discussions. I left the class feeling much more confident messing with settings on my camera to get it to do what I wanted it to do as well as understand what settings I should be messing with for various situations. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to learn how to use their camera or anyone looking for other advanced classes. My husband and I took an intro to photography class today and it was such a great experience! So much great information and the photographer who taught the class was very knowledgeable and helpful! The class was 4 hours long but he took time after the class ended to answer all questions and help students with navigating their cameras, etc. all in all he spent nearly an entire hour after the class should have finished patiently sharing his knowledge and helping anyone who needed! Got a groupon for an Intro to photography class/intro to DSLR cameras. Dean is a good presenter/teacher, presenting things in a comprehendable manner. His train of thought is logical and easy to follow. He doesn't spend time explaining the ins and outs of how your camera works internally like reflecting off a mirror, letting light in, etc etc, but focuses on how to get your camera to take good photos which I appreciated. As he put it: You don't need to know exactly how a car works, just that the gas pedal makes it go, brake makes it stop, and steering wheel makes it turn. This is exactly what I needed to get started using my DSLR with practical info on how to get results from my camera without overwhelming my brain with info that it is not ready to comprehend yet!
