Took my son here for his birthday and found very good cocktails and a very good meal. Spicy tuna appetizer and cheese balls with guava barbecue sauce, both delicious. For the main course , my wife had sea bass and we split several sushi plates. This restaurant is amazing the service is excellent!!! The drinks are all made fresh and taste delicious. The appetizers we're very good, order the raw tuna on the crackers and the cheese balls with guava sauce. The steak with onions is amazing and huge, it is not one steak, it is three steaks one on top of the other and with a mountain of crispy thin fries on top. Drinks and appetizers are reasonably priced. Main courses are a bit higher than average. All in all the appetizers were mostly excellent. We tried the burrata, grouper bites, cheese balls, alcapurrias, & codfish croquettes. The croquettes had a harder than usual skin for a croquette and tasted somewhat fishy. Main courses were filet with a very mild tasting bbq sauce (I wasn't sure if the same had been watered down), churrasco with a parsley chimichurri (tasteless), and avocado stuffed with churrasco. Side dishes were a mashed roots something (completely tasteless and bland), breadfruit tostones (extremely greasy), and asparagus. Dessert consisted of baked Alaska (heavy on the meringue (did I mention it was mostly meringue?), flan (best one had), and brownie a la mode (Costco has better brownies). May be a local favorite but maybe locals don't know any better. read more

Nice neighborhood restaurant, food was really good and so was the service. We went here for lunch and took our dog with us. They are not only a pet friendly place but the staff really went above and beyond provided us water and made sure we all had a good time. You can buy items to cook at home, that's a plus. My recommendation of you want to take some things home look at that and then you can order them, this way you will know they are your taste. I live in the area so anytime a new place opens I am excited to try it. The difference with Wilo is that I've been hearing a lot of "don't waste your time and money here" for reasons of poor service, hectic environment, food being hit or miss, etc. Now, my boyfriend is vegan, and the metro area only has a hand full of vegan friendly restaurants, Wilo being one of them with a whole section of purely plant based dishes. Needless to say, we were thrilled and decided to ignore the negative chatter. Let's start with the entrance. You are greeted by florescent lit grab and go fridges that gives you the feeling that you are in an airport deli. The hostesses were nice and seated us quickly in this very bright lit room in the back that was like an echo chamber. We started with the vegan "pegao" and bean dish. The pegao that they are "known for" was very greasy and the beans lacked citrus and salt. Bland. We then ordered the white bean hummus, which was served so cold that it was hard to eat. For the main course, my boyfriend ordered the "two beyond meat veggie burgers". We LOVE the beyond and impossible burgers and cook with Beyond at home a lot so we hoped it would be a slam dunk. What he received was a massive single patty of "two beyond burgers" combined into one dry and lackluster patty. First of all, this is a daunting and intimidating site to a vegan, this slab of imitation meat. Secondly, serving it with onions and mushrooms alone is overwhelmingly uninspired. Where are the sauces? Where is the tomato that provides a fresh burst of juicy acidity? Needless to say, this plate is falsely advertised and in this case, bigger is not better... On to the service. Awkward, tired, chaotic, unfriendly and unprofessional. At least our waitress couldn't be less enthused to have us in her section. She did not introduce herself, rather went directly into specials of the day. There were moments of awkward silence were I wasn't sure if she had more to say and why she was blankly standing there hovering over us like a deer in the headlights. We wanted to pass on this constructive criticism nicely with her at the end of our meal in the hope that one of the few vegan friendly restaurants welcomed a vegan's perspective in order to improve. This was sadly not the case, the waitress rudely blamed us for not telling her earlier in the meal as if now she cannot do anything about it. I was not expecting them to comp an item off the bill, rather I wanted the waitress to address this matter with the chef and I wanted the him to come out and show that someone in this place gives a damn! The worst part was she was offended by the advice and refused to give us our bill personally or further engage. Another waiter brought our bill and rung us up while I see her standing idly in the background. This place is the definition of being a jack of all trades but master at none. Seems like they are trying to be too many things and as a consequence nothing is really good. The place has all the appeal of an airport restaurant/deli, a wait staff that hasn't been trained properly with standards, mediocre food and the captain is asleep at the helm. Amazing overall experience! We order the Mushroom rissoto and the salmon. Both of them were amazing. The rissoto is prepared the traditional way. Not the usual heavy cream full of fat that are served everywhere else.... Definitely we will come back for more great food! The service was top notch! Wow that's all I should have to say, But for those of you who would like more of an explanation here it is. If you have visited PR before you may have remembered a restaurant called Pikayo one of the best (if not the) restaurants that PR has ever had. Well guess what Wilo Eatery and Bar is run by the same genius as Pikayo Chef Owner Wilo Benet. This more relaxed casual atmosphere is just as inviting It's bold colors and decor lives up to the cuisine and beverage program. It's a must visit. Try either of the risottos, 0ne with gandules and Chicorones or with calamari and squid ink The tuna tartar on crispy rice is a favorite the drinks are just as fabulous the hibiscus tea and tequila is amazing I had 4 don't worry took an Uber on the way out. As far as for the service the staff is pleasant knowledgeable and attentive and by the way you will find Chef Wilo floating in the dining room as well The best part is when you leave, there is a market in the front of the restaurant where you can take some of Wilo's fare home. Food, as usual for Wilo, was excellent. The ambience however was lacking. The service was poor--the waiters budded in to conversations and brought dirty dishes from other tables to our table. The restaurant was too loud and the ambience was not welcoming at all. We expected more in regards to ambience and service given the prices, which remain as expensive as fine dining establishments. We have followed Wilo Benet's restaurant, Pikayo, since its first iteration in the Condado area of San Juan (at a Best Western); at the Museo de Arte; and back again to another hotel in Condado. Now back in Puerto Rico we were excited to go to "Wilo," his latest restaurant. His food had always been exceptional and his staff, professional and spot on on recommendations. Sadly that's not the case here in his new endeavor in a shopping mall in Guaynabo. While on the whole his food is still good It's uneven (for example, his signature dessert, a cheese soufflé was so dry that no amount of the accompanying guava sauce could rescue it). The most egregious misstep in this restaurant however is the young staff. They up-sold us on the amount of appetizers (some of which could have easily served as entrees) and the main courses. They should have known the portion sizes, but either didn't, or willfully up-sold.That was very disappointing and we won't be following this chef anywhere again. read more
