Four stars is being very generous. But to be fair, some things were very good and other things had a lot to be desired. As others have mentioned, it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside and parking is a bit difficult but there is parking across the street near what looks like a park. The seafood options are very tasty and nicely presented . So-called avocado salad is just a bunch of slices of avocado on a plate, no salad. The steak was very salty, and even though it was requested to be well done, it came back as a rare to medium. The servers were friendly, but the service itself was a bit slow . It was good overall for most people except the one that ordered the steak. The Mofongo is a Puerto Rican side dish and it was really tasty. I would not repeat read more

I'd love to be able to write a review about the food & ambience. The only thing I can honestly write about is the service, which was NON-EXISTENT for us. We walked into the restaurant & headed to the bar. The hostess gave us 2 dinner menus, & our menus didn't match. Oh, well. Then, we looked at the drink menu. The bartender NEVER even looked at us. After several minutes of waiting for the bartender to notice us, to no avail, we counted to "3" & walked out. This is NO way to treat a customer. We actually walked 24 blocks from our hotel to the restaurant, just to be ignored. Not good. read more

This place was okay. The only saving grace to this place was the salmon being perfectly cooked and the pear sauce being really good. Everything else was meh. The paella was slapped onto this plate the original dish looked better without the waiter just plopping it onto this plate. Also all seafood except the squid was overcooked on the paella. read more

So good! Tucked away from the business our tourist, this place was amazing. We got there on the later side but they sat us with open arms. Serving staff and host were all very welcoming. We were searching for a restaurant nearby the Airbnb we were staying at, and we found Mar Del Caribe. The reviews and pictures looked promising, and I could never turn down seafood! The restaurant was clean, and we were luckily able to get seated immediately with 7 people. The service was amazing and so attentive- never had an empty wine or water glass! As for food, 4 of us shared Paella de Mariscos It was seasoned and cooked well with plenty of seafood, including prawns, lobster, squid, mussels, fish. Great little spot in Isla Verde. Formal dining area with excellent service. They bring out a bottle of their homemade hot sauce which was great. Their cocktails left something to be desired, I would stick with a bottle or glass of wine. They served complimentary bread and the soups were divine. We had both the lentil and seafood soup. We love this restaurant because it is consistently good! We like the seating outdoors and the service is excellent. We went with another couple. They loved it too The appetizer grilled octopus and the tuna salad with seaweed was delicious. For main course i had the salmon & shrimp with creole sauce. It was delicious. Excellent neighborhood upscale Puerto Rican restaurant which feels like a family business. Service is excellent from the valet parker, to the entrance host to the very attentive waiters. This is a great place to have an authentic Puerto Rican meal. They have several varieties of rice and they are all very good. We had chicken, steak, and pork and they were all excellent in quality and taste. The guava dessert was so good. Our server, Felix was the best server we had while on the entire island. He was attentive and gave really good recommendations for not only what food we should order but other things we should do on the island. The restaurant was very clean and family friendly. Ordered delivery from here over the weekend- so can't speak to the ambiance- though we have passed it and it is a "hole in the wall". Don't let this stop you- everything we had here was AMAZING. Our friends Karen y Eric Vera brought us to Mar del Caribe restaurant for a dinner date. Wonderful service, ambiance and the food was exquisite. We shared the Fried calamari, King crab pastelillos, a wonderful Spanish bottle of red wine and the main courses were to die for. My husband had Fricase of goat, I had ceviche of conch and octopus with a mash of root vegetables. My friend had lamb chops w the same mash and her husband had a wonderful fish filet. We had a blast. Honestly a great place to go! The inside is beautiful and the staff is great!! They are super attentive and I couldn't recommend this place more! The food was overall amazing (we got the seafood paella, surf and turf, chicken Parmesan, and the Alfredo pasta). Everything was reasonably priced and awesome! Ceviche was fresh, Octopus was grilled and tasty. Large portions. The large seafood Paella was dry and over cooked, eggplant crab was an unslightly dish and enough for a sports team Positioned as fine dining, the staff need training in savoir faire..when's glass of white wine was asked for , after some struggle a glass of Vista Point ($4 at CVS) was the sole undrinkable option from a otherwise bottle only list. Creme brulee was burnt. With just a tweek of finesse this could be a fine dining venue, but 10/10 for effort. read more

The food and decor is excellent. The appetizer came out quick. It was small yet delicious. The meal came out slow yet was also delicious. My suggestion is if you see more than 10 patrons inside, check to see if these people have their meals in front of them of them. If they don't, you will likely have to wait far longer than what's reasonable for your meal. read more

Great fine dining experience. My chicken breast stuffed with sweet plantain, mozzarella and mustard was outstanding. (That was my husband's first review ever so you know it's good) This charming little restaurant (that is very unpretentious from the outside) was recommended by the staff where we're staying nearby. We wanted to stretch out from flying and enjoyed the half mile walk to the restaurant,but we did not want to walk home in the dark considering the potholes. To my amazement the lovely owner manager offered us a ride home personally, And we accepted her gracious offer. I took her recommendation to get the scallops and shrimp in an incredible coconut honey sauce. It was amazing, and the tostones were great with it. read more

I was driving by after the beach and saw their sign at front.. intrigued by the name I found their facebook page and was blown away by the photos. Let me tell you, those photos did not lie whatsoever! The presentation for everything was on point, as was the flavors!! I ordered the seafood paella and tasted fresher than any place I've ever had. The only thing that could have made it better was if the rice was crispy on bottom, but I'm sure that's a request I could have made had I asked. In addition to the food, the decor is OUTSTANDING!
