We stopped in on a rainy/snowy day. They looked like they were closed because we didn't see any lights on. We did notice the OPEN sign so we parked and went in. Well the reason the lights weren't on was because there was a power outage in the area. That didn't stop them tho. We had read about their make your own chocolate bar and wanted to do that. When we got to the bar area there was a group already there deciding on their choices. The two ladies (Barb & Melissa) behind the counter were doing a GREAT job without power. They apologized for the inconvenience a bunch (not needed.....it wasn't their fault the power was out) and just handled everything so well. Once they had the group mostly taken care of they turned their attention to my wife and I. Both of them were super nice and very friendly. We had a great time watching them make our bars and talking to them. We would definitely recommend anyone in the area stop in!! They are awesome and fun!!! read more

First... the chocolate is absolutely the best chocolate we have ever had! Second... Wilmar's customer service is as fabulous as their chocolates! Last year, the delivery guy must have played basketball with my package. Wilmar helped me with replacing the damaged product and my very large family enjoyed all of the delicious chocolate treats! Third... they are local, right here in Wisconsin. They also have storefronts. Check them out... you won't be disappointed. read more

The make your own chocolate bar is amazing. I recommend mini m&ms and potato chips. Soooo good! The staff is friendly, the collection of novelty candy and chocolates is great, its what I imagine as a chocolate shop from decades ago would be like. A must do as you're passing through! read more

Wilmar Chocolates - Candy Stores Near Me - Appleton, Wisconsin

I went to DePere to buy my chocolate and was very disappointed. I stopped in at Wilmar's in Appleton, to buy a few pieces at a very busy time. The service was very good considering how busy they were and their pecans did not taste rancid. read more

My first time here. I walked around and they have a nice selection of chocolates. I assume they taste good but I didn't get any. The gentleman was very helpful. I think one of the reasons I didn't get any was because I've been been to Vande Walle's. Somehow I feel a strange loyalty to them. Also, I just like the layout of their store better. Plus when you come in, you can get a sample of a chocolate. read more

Great service and delicious treats. Happy to have this locally owned business in the area. The store is comfortable and clean and is a pleasure to shop in. read more

Candy is good, but they're not See's candy from the west coast. Don't buy their caramel apples. I bought 6 Granny Smith caramel apples at almost $30 bucks. Those were the worst caramel apples I ever wasted my money on. They were MUSHY apples. Apples are suppose to be crisp. I'm new to Appleton and have stopped at Wilmers several times. Like I said candy is good. However I feel like I got ripped off with the caramel apples.....I will not return to Wilmers. read more

Such nice people and great products. We've been consuming these for 20+ years as holidays when our local Appleton family would ship to us. This visit was our turn to stock up and buy gifts for ourselves and other lucky friends. everything is picture perfect and packed with perfect care. read more

I've been here once because my daughter wanted an apple but the pricing was Crazy high for pretty much everything, she did get her apple but said it was only OK. Definitely won't go back. read more

Five stars and then some!! Their dark chocolate almond bark is amazing! It's heart healthy and calcium rich, what else could one want? It's the freshly made, since something that good doesn't last long on the shelf! Also, their custom design your own bars can be made in milk chocolate, semi sweet or a mixture and one can add four ingredients. Personally, I like the Wisconsin cherries with sea salt, almonds, cinnamon, and a mixture of chocolate. Out of this world!! In the cooler months, the chocolate can be ordered and shipped to anywhere in the country. A little shop with a big taste!!! Gotta find my way back soon! read more

Small local chocolate shop, making in house chocolates.. and some award winners to boot. Had to check this place out and so glad i did. Killer chocolate. Killer service. I had already been to Wilmar Chocolates on quite a few occasions while visiting my daughter in Appleton, but since she has recently graduated from college, I no longer get a chance to go. So, just last week, I ordered some of Wilmar's decadent chocolate bars, and they did not disappoint! They came in record time and the bars were just as good as the ones that were hand-crafted in the store. Wilmar, please consider opening a shop in the Cities!! read more

I really love the homemade chocolates and candies that are made here. I recommend this place to people all the time as a destination, especially when they are actively making the chocolate and you can watch. read more

Wilmar Chocolates is a must stop in Appleton, WI! The chocolates are delectable, the store is quaint and the service was top notch. The story of the store's original owners is heart warming too. We are still savoring the chocolates we purchased there a week ago! Too good to enjoy in one sitting! Wilmar Chocolates would also be great for sending a birthday, anniversary, or holiday gift to friends and family. We will definitely stop when we are back in Appleton!! read more

An absolute must try if you haven't been. Every time I need a reasonably priced gift, I stop in for an assortment and get myself a little treat also. Better than some of the fancy shops you find in bigger cities. Great staff also. read more

On the road for two weeks, then Two more in Wisconsin for work is not something the "better half" is happy with. Luckily Wilmar's offers excellent Chocolates to soothe the savage beast that is the "road scorned" Mrs. Gonzalez If not for you Wilmars, the possibility of bodily injury to myself upon returning home empty handed is greatly reduced. read more

High priced, so-so chocolates. Save some money and treat yourself to Hughes or Oaks in Oshkosh.

We came here to try out the local chocolate shop while visiting from California and were not disappointed! In fact, we loved it so much I ordered online from them a make-your-own chocolate bar for delivery all the way to Cali! The weather here is always up and down so delivery was tough, but they called me as soon as the order was placed to discuss options. Even when it couldn't ship after a week they called back and personally explained the reasoning (dumb California weather!) THEN, I got a confirmation that my order had shipped without having to contact them again! They watched the weather daily for me and got it to me as soon as temps dropped and I got it well before Christmas. Amazing customer service and yummy chocolate. read more

Anything I want in my giant candy bar? Well, thank you! We were on a weekend adventure in the Fox Cities and our hostess selected Wilmar for a tour and candy bar making session. We were lucky enough to have a great hostess who coordinated with the store ahead of time to allow us to select everything we wanted in our candy bars. 80% of the candy was ready for us when we arrived. We started with a brief overview of the store's history and then we were lead to the back to watch them make 5 of our chocolate bars. What a fun experience! I can't say enough of how great my candy bars were and how welcoming the store was to all 18 of us. In addition to my 2 candy bars, I got a box of melt-a-ways, some Pop Rocks (yeah, for real) and candy lips. Everyone enjoyed their gifts very much. Great little shop with old school penny candy, great chocolates and friendly staff. read more

We received a few boxes of Wilmer chocolates for Christmas and the toffee is the best we've ever had. Yum!

Lots of different good reasons (chocolate) to visit but if you want 1 really good reason, go to make your own custom chocolate bar!

Every trip to Wisconsin includes a stop at Wilmar's. There is no finer piece of candy than their maple cream filled chocolate! I've been going there for 50 years!!!!!! read more

Every year a special group of high school friends from all over the US meet up in our home town of Appleton for a long weekend of fun. Part of this year's get together included an impromptu trip to Wilmar Chocolates. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner and offered the most delectable samples of their creative (and award winning) chocolates. The daily special was their "S'More" bar. Let's just say I shamelessly asked for seconds... We all purchased boxes of assorted treats along with a stash of freshly made caramel apples. Frankly, it would be tough to name a favorite because it's all so good! This shop is amazing, the chocolates are spectacular and we will definitely add Wilmar's to our annual "must do" list. read more

I used to come here when I was a kid, back when it was mostly stuffed from end to end with cheap candy, the archetypal small-town candy shop where you could afford something even if you only had a few scrounged pennies in your pocket. Now it's a fancy upscale chocolate shop, although they keep a little bit of penny candy around at the front of the store. The chocolate is pretty good -- American style, pecan turtles and meltaways and bridge mix, and bar chocolate with fruit and nuts. The day I came in they were giving out bacon chocolate samples but I (wisely, I think) avoided that and tried a cranberry nut variety instead. read more

From someone who has lived for chocolate a very long time. This chocolate is the very best that you can find anywhere. Yes, it is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. They know their stuff, and the chocolate candy they make is by far the finest around! read more

I have to admit that I am a bit biased as I have family history with this store. My grandparents founded this store and if you can only imagine what it was like growing up as a grandchild of a candy maker. The chocolates hand crafted with love have always been there and it just keeps getting better. No holiday is complete without a box of Wilmar's chocolates and it is always the first thing on my gift list from my family in Wisconsin. This is definitely not your average candy store. The moment you walk in and hear the old fashioned bell ding, you are gifted with a scent of pure sweetness and joy as the smells from the kitchen in the back flood the store. If you are in Appleton, you have to stop here. I always make time for a visit to Wilmar's whenever I am back home. I always get a box that includes the oysters, the meltaways, the angel's food, and the turtles. read more
