I've eaten birria tacos at I don't know how many different locations over the past few years, but this was probably the one location where I was not sure if they were actually those type of tacos. While the meat was good, it lacked the flavor that you're used to. The consommé that they gave me was probably maybe 2 ounces; I really couldn't dip my tacos in it. My tacos were extremely soft even though I watched them cook them, but they didn't fry them up hard enough. There wasn't really any melted cheese on my tacos, and the beans and rice they gave me had to have been sitting out for a while. Not that the food wasn't good. It had flavor. The presentation was off and it wasn't as tasty as I expected. The price wasn't bad for three tacos, beans and rice and consommé, with tax it came to about $16. I just expected it to be a lot more delicious.

When we walked in and no one was speaking english, I knew we found the right spot. The lady behind the counter was helpful in assisting us with what to order. We ordered a pastor burrito, quesadilla, and two papusas. I think our order total was around $25 or $30, which is unheard of (especially for us over-orderers). The food was great, while I think the pastor was a little under-seasoned (from what we are used to), overall we very much enjoyed everything we ordered. We will definitely be returning!

I beg you: come hungry! You're going to want to try everything!…read more I was on my way back to Tampa from Sarasota and decided to stop in. This standalone restaurant is on a busy road, but has plenty of parking and a little lake next to the lot. It's big but cozy, with a fun decor-lots of booths and tables in two different rooms plus a bar to belly up to. My server was sweet and attentive-but didn't hover. She had perfect timing. The complimentary chips were warm and the salsa had just a little kick to it-good combo. I had to order the white queso dip... I mean, who am I if I don't try the queso? It was silky and comforting. I ate every drop. By this time I was full-but I wanted to try more things. I ended up going with the build your own: one taco (really tasty! Simple but oh so good!), one chile relleno (generous serving-lots of meat and cheese/less pepper) and one chicken enchilada Suiza (I think it was dark chicken-but check me on that). This is a lot of food-and you also get two sides! I chose rice and black beans-which were both excellent. The lunch menu has great choices/prices and there's a happy hour from 3-7 (not sure if it applies to the weekend-should have checked-sorry!). The booth was comfy and it wasn't loud in there (except for the folks next to me-who I now know wayyyyy too much about!) I think the ac was out when I was there-or on its last legs. But that's fixable. I'll definitely go back again. I had the house margaritas this time (good! Perfect sweetness levels-lightly strong, if that makes sense) and want to try others on the list. Clean-casual-good service-big menu. Thanks, Poblanos! See you soon!
