I am extremely unhappy with both my haircut and the way my concerns have been handled afterward. I was harassed!!! When I called the salon to express my concerns.I was specifically complaining about a stylist named Donna. According to her salon bio, she recently moved from Chicago. Less than 24 hours after making that complaint, I received a text message from an unknown Chicago-area phone number calling me names. The timing was concerning enough that I felt it should be reported to the salon. I did not feel that concern was taken seriously. I was told that someone would contact me regarding my complaint, but I was left waiting without any meaningful response. At this point, I was seeking a refund because I am deeply dissatisfied with the haircut itself, upset by the way my concerns have been handled, and troubled by the harassing message I received after reporting my experience. When my calls were not being returned, I called again for a third time and at that time was told that Donna is the owner of the business and would never do such a thing. My initial complaint was regarding my haircut. I have fine hair, and throughout my appointment the stylist described what she was doing as adding "movement" to my hair. At no point did I understand that significant debulking was being done. That is not something I would have requested. The result is that my hair feels much thinner than before, and I have not been able to find a way to style it that I feel good about. Another concern is that my hair was not blow-dried at the end of the service. It wasn't until I went home, washed it myself, and blow-dried it that I was able to fully see the haircut and notice the issues I have with it. Looking at it styled properly only made me more upset with the final result. Now this situation is much larger and I am still hoping for a full refund for the service. read more

4 stars for the salon, 1 star for the stylist. Baily gave me the most bizarre cut I've ever gotten. I told her I wanted to grow it out so just add some layers. She essentially gave me a bowl cut on the top layer of my hair and left the bottom untouched. When I got home and straightened it I freaked. I called her 40 minutes after my appointment and sent her a video. Her immediate reply was that she "didn't cut it". When I asked how we could fix it, she suggested $900 extensions and behaved like a defensive, petty child. The owner ended up trying to salvage it by bringing the bottom layer up another inch or so to try to connect the bizarre top layer that Baily brought up way too high. I've gotten a lot of unfortunate feedback about this cut and will just have to wait it out for it to grow. No refund for the $125 cut was ever offered. (Not including color and tip) read more

I had an unfortunate experience at this salon recently. I've been going here to get my hair done for a few years now. My hairdresser Amanda usually always requests payment via venmo, but this time I wanted to use a credit card. I handed her the card and she handed it back to me while we were chatting about her prices changing. She insisted to me that her prices had not changed at all, but I was sure they had increased a little bit each time over my last few appointments. Not a big deal, but I was wanting to clarify pricing, so I knew what to expect moving forward, future appts etc. It's annoying for the price to increase steadily everytime you make a new appt. As we were having the awkward convo, I put the card away, thanked her and started to leave. I think we both got distracted chatting and as I was leaving, I realized I never had the opportunity to finish the transaction and add a tip. I was planning to add a cash tip separately and when I brought it up, my hairdresser told me not to worry about it, that I could "just get her next time". When I insisted, she then picked up the phone and told me that I had tipped already. I told her she never handed me the phone to finish the transaction, but she insisted I did. The tip added was a flat 20% and I usually add a custom amount to make my total an even round number. I knew I hadn't actually added the tip myself, especially because I was planning to tip in cash that day and I left feeling a little uneasy and uncomfortable about what had just happened. I had a second appointment with the same hairdresser the following week and did not want to feel weird at our next appointment, so I decided to reach out to her to clear the air to let her know that I honestly had not had the chance to finish my transaction and she never handed me the phone after giving me my card back. I assumed good intention and let her know that I figured it was an honest mistake and that we were distracted by our conversation. Maybe she accidentally clicked through to complete the transaction and wasn't sure how to undo it. I just wanted her to know that had happened so we could clear the air and more importantly, that it didn't happen to her and another customer again. I've got a pretty good memory and I would remember if I finished a transaction or not. Unfortunately when I reached out to her, she was dismissive and denied that had happened and actually cancelled my hair appointment the following week saying she didn't think she could do my hair anymore, trying to refer me to someone else. I've never had this happen at any kind of professional salon. I was bit shocked at the reaction and felt like it was very unprofessional. I've been seeing her for years now and was only trying to be upfront about what I had thought had been a technology mishap. I was hoping to get my hair done for my 40th birthday and was not able to reschedule anywhere to get it done in time. Very very disappointing. I enjoyed going to this salon and the experience I had was unfortunate. Not good customer service or how you treat someone who has been a loyal customer for years. When I called to inform management they acted like they could have cared less and did not even bother taking down my information or contact info for follow up. Classy joint. This place is just the cutest!! I was able to make a last minute hair appt online, it was super easy to set it up on their online platform. You can choose which service you want and then pick a time with the stylist of your choice. Parking is a bit tight, but they provide a parking pass for you as well. The front of the store has the cutest stuff to browse, things like jewelry, candles, sunglasses, apparel, gifts, etc. You also get 15% the front store with your hair appt! I absolutely loved the vibe here, and Donna took great care of me!! I got quite a bit cut off and she was wonderful, encouraging and listened well to my vision. I love it!!! I'm new to Asheville and had read countless reviews on hair salons and it took me weeks before almost giving up to find Willow's Dream. I made appointment with Danielle and I am so glad I did. Got root touch up collar and a trim and I couldn't be happier. The salon is very cute. When you walk inside, there are accessories, jewelry, candles, and lots of fun things to look at and purchase. I was greeted very warmly, and was given a pass for my car so I could use the lot that is adjacent to the building. Danielle did a great job and provided amazing conversation. Willow's Dream is downtown and while the parking is a little tight, they do actually have parking! It's a cute little place but the real reason to go is GENEVIEVE!! She is the absolute best! My spouse and I are queer and Genevieve couldn't do a better job on short-short hair that fits each of our personalities (and faces). She is pleasant, takes her time, very friendly and genuine. FINALLY after years of finding a stylist who did maybe one or two decent cuts, after which everything kind of stank, we have the best!! Yes, lots of exclamation points!!! Because she deserves it! She took time to explain her process and did such a thorough and careful job. It was unlike any hair coloring I have experienced before. I had ask to go brunette with some honey blonde highlights, maybe a balayage. My hair was platinum blonde and super long. I went in with a generally open mind but had an idea as to what I wanted to walk out with. I did not get anywhere near what I had expected. My hair is fried, choppy, uneven, and genuinely ugly. Normally, when I get a haircut, I go straight home, try to style it, and then my partner ends up having to fix my haircut. A friend recommended Kim at Willow's Dream. I scheduled an appointment and I was not disappointed. I told her a few things that I definitely didn't want, a few things I wanted, and just allowed her to pick the style. She paid so much attention to detail and I received THE BEST HAIRCUT I have had since living in Asheville. Worst haircut and haircut experience! Went in with medium one length hair and pictures to show and describe what I was looking for - an inch off length with long layers - the hair dressor nods says ok good and proceeds to - cut my hair into a horrid bob chin length cut - what made it worse is that she asks if I want to have it blown out. I've never had a worse hair experience in my life (currently trying to figure out how to post pictures, as me describing the hair cut I received at Willow's Dream does not do it justice). I have long, thick hair (that is all one length) and simply asked for a trim and thin. After TWO hours, Zoe gave me a ton of layers (which I didn't have before), it looked like a true mullet. My hair was completely butchered. However, I didn't realize just how bad it really was until I got home, as I was in a hurry to get out of there since it took a really long time... and she never offered a mirror so I never saw the back. I emailed the owner once I realized how terrible my hair was and asked for a refund. The owner said that Zoe refunded my hair. I waited over a week and still hadn't seen the refund on my credit card so I reached back out to the owner and she was "short" with me through email saying she knew for a fact that Zoe refunded me. I waited a few more days and still no refund. I reached back out again and it turns out that she "refunded the wrong customer" and would try again. Also, I was told that the hair cut was $45 and Zoe charged me $50. In one email from Zoe she said there must have been some "miscommunication about what I wanted." There was no miscommunication AND if you don't understand what a customer is asking for, you should ask more questions! Zoe later admitted to the owner that she "got lost in the haircut." If you get "LOST" in a hair cut, don't just keep cutting! Ask someone else to help! To top it all off, Zoe kept the tip I gave her! I don't how, in good conscious, she could keep any money with what she did to my hair! And I never would have tipped or paid in the first place if I would have known what she did to my hair! Had a manicure and pedicure appointment scheduled for 6 months at Willows Dream with Leah. This appointment was made for my wedding in Asheville. Only guideline posted online was that clients that have flown within 14 days to please not enter the business. I have not flown for over a year! Got a call the day of my appointment that a new guildline was made up that now anyone that has not been in Asheville for 14 days is not allowed in the business and my appointment was cancelled. This was the DAY of my appointment. This appointment was made 6 months ago and no one bothered to reach out to clients about this new guildline that was sporadically made up and never posted on their website. My mother's appointment was also cancelled via text message without even talking to her first to see if she's been in Asheville for 2 weeks. If the nail tech Leah was so uncomfortable working with clients outside of Asheville it should be posted on their website or she shouldn't be working at all until the pandemic is over. Do not use this business. Thank goodness I wasn't getting my bridal hair and makeup done here as well! read more

Got a hair cut by Amanda Penland and can't say I'd recommend. Pushed my appointment back by a half hour which was fine by me, but no acknowledgment or thanks on her part. Had some trouble finding parking when I arrived which delayed me by about 10 minutes. Amanda rushed through the cut and I had to slow her down a couple times to make sure she understood what I wanted. Overall okay job but long layers came out a little blunted and not blended very well. Maybe she's better to her regular clients but did not feel like she gave me the time I deserved. I booked a last-minute Saturday morning blowout with Ally on Friday afternoon via Vagaro. The booking was quick and easy, but Vagaro gave me the wrong directions and, as I'm from out of town, I didn't know they were wrong until I was running a few minutes late. When I called Willow's Dream, they got me headed in the right direction and were super-nice about the minor delay. The space is really cute and eclectic, in an old, renovated home downtown. Plenty of natural light and lots of character. Ally is friendly, a great conversationalist with interesting stories and a hair magician. I went from 3 day old crunchy curls to a smooth, flowing mane. Even a breezy afternoon of sitting outside at breweries and then dancing my ass off at a show (in an overheated concert venue) didn't make it flatten or frizz. Got a dry curly cut from Danielle, and it was the worst cut I've ever had. She combed out my curls and chopped off my V ends in to a blunt cut, even after asking how I usually have them. She even tried to wash my hair before cutting and I had to remind her I was getting a dry curly cut. She was also completely stuck up and judgmental. I would not recommend anyone get a curly cut here if you've had curly cuts before. Aside from the appalling stylist, the shop itself was cute, and the lady working at the front was incredibly warm and friendly. I will not return, and instead will search for a more experienced stylist. read more

Brittany is just the best there is. This woman lives for hair! It's not just what she does, it's who she IS! The shorter cuts she has given me have been mad cool and major compliment fetchers! I recently took some time away and actually missed her! WTH? Who misses their hair stylist? But Brittany has such a positive, soulful presence, I missed getting my "hits." "Lol. The reason for my break was to have dreadlocks for awhile, about 1 1/2 years. When I took them out, my hair had gotten quite long and need the ends trimmed badly. I knew Brittany would of course do a great job, but how exciting could a trim on hair with long layers be?...ROCKSTAR! Somehow my run of the mill long hair morphed into ROCKSTAR! If you don't have Brittany cut your hair you're dumb! Haha. Plus, the salon is very nice and very Asheville. High end with a cool, artsy, funk factor. Downtown with parking, say what? Every time I've walked in I've been greeted by a very friendly, outgoing person at the desk who has instantly made me feel happy, unlike so many salons that feel intimidating, cold, and One last thing. This not just a salon and boutique, it's an AWESOME salon and boutique. I have never had such a stellar experience getting my hair cut. If you're looking for a great cut and style, go to Lilly! I visited her for the first time a few days ago and she was great; extremely friendly and sweet while remaining professional. I've had friends recommend her for color as well. The other hairdressers that I talked to were also kind. Everyone seemed like a happy family. The salon is actually comprised of areas and rooms that each hairdresser rents. But between the salon and the boutique, the entire space is beautiful. The boutique is small and resides on the main level with some of the salon and spa space that also continues upstairs. Another plus is that they have their own private lot that's reserved for customers only. Parking in Asheville can be a pain and this made my experience a lot less stressful. I'll definitely be coming here again and I highly recommend it to everyone. read more
