I was told I needed authorization from my PCM to be seen. My personal account was charged for services and not my insurance. I sent multiple emails and called to attempt to reconcile this issue. CHANGED OUR FAMILY! We've been with Willis consulting for over 8 years through two of our family members. From day one, they ensured that we found a therapist that "fit us". We were allowed to make a couple of fit changes for one of our minors. Once we found the "right" counselor, it bloomed. I signed up to receive services with Willis Consulting a couple of months ago and was given Jada Choate as my therapist. Initially it was through my EAP, Jada is an amazing therapist she listens with her whole heart and that speaks volume. She's attentive and caring. About 15 years ago I found Willis counseling. It was exactly what I needed at the time navigating my life in Chicago when I was still trying to figure out my values, my goals and romantic relationships in general. I took a break for awhile, moved a few times and now in my mid-40s reached back out to work on a few different things and some of the same things in this stage of life- goals and friendship relationships. 10/10 recommendation for anyone looking help. I scheduled an initial appointment for early afternoon with Amber Konopa. Admittedly, I scheduled the appointment about 30 minutes prior to the anticipated time of appointment, but was able to complete all intake paperwork, to include uploading and sending copies of insurance card, etc. I received a call at the scheduled start time of the appointment from a receptionist asking if I was able to reschedule for a later time that same day, as the therapist hadn't had time to prepare for the appointment. I was able to shift some things around and carve out an hour at a time they suggested later in the day. I received a text and email confirmation of the rescheduled time. The time for the rescheduled appointment came. About 10 minutes into the appointment, after not receiving a link for the visit, I called the office, sat on the phone for another 10 minutes, without any explanation as to what was happening. Eventually, the receptionist informed me he would call back once he had any information. I received a call at 30 minutes into the appointment time that the therapist was unavailable and if I would like to reschedule the appointment. Again. It seems strange that patients are charged for any no-show or cancellation, but there's no repercussion when the reverse happens without any explanation. read more

We also call to confirm that our clients have the right match with their therapist so we can get them switched if they are not satisfied. Sadly our persistent calls to this client were intended to get them to the best match for their free sessions and we are saddened that the communication attempts were not well received. We respect their choice to go elsewhere as we only wanted to make sure their needs were met." You are correct, I had 10 free sessions through my EAP. That said, I told you stop contacting me and let you know that I was going elsewhere due to your clinic's unprofessional behavior. I left my feedback, twice, with people that followed up who were nice enough, but I firmly told them I was seeking a therapist elsewhere with my 10 free sessions. You called me so much, even after telling your staff that I wanted to have nothing to do with your clinic at least twice on the phone and to put a note in my file to no longer contact me, that I had to block your clinic's phone number after you started calling me every night AFTER telling you to stop. I shouldn't have to block the number of a therapist office because they can't respect my boundaries. Your communication attempts were not well received because you did not listen to me and treated me like a cash cow rather than as someone seeking mental healthcare looking for help. There was no acknowledgement or accountability from your office in either my conversations about my poor experience with your therapist or your office's frequent and unwanted phone calls, as your response to my review makes blatantly clear. read more

I've never stuck to therapy longer than a month, but this time I've been working with Willis cc for a while and I don't see myself going anywhere else! They have all kinds of availability (in person, on the phone, video chat) different locations, all kinds of time slots and availably - they work with you and work for what's best for you! I couldn't be happier with the progress, the people, and the help I've received. Any issues you have in your life - personal, work, family, what ever - you can be helped here! Unprofessional billing team. The therapist I worked with was amazing. However the billing and intake team has horrendous customer service. I have been trying to get a billing situation resolved, but the intake team continues to ghost my emails and hang up when I call in. For a counseling center you would think they would value customer interaction. Would not recommend the center to anyone solely based on the horrendous experience with intake. read more

I've been working with Liz Gaddas for six months. My insurance changed after our first month, so I've only been able to see her once or twice a month due to OOP costs ($100/hour session). She has still been able to provide me with excellent care, which is challenging for any therapist with less frequent visits. She is caring and a great listener, but can be more directive when needed, which I find helpful sometimes, and when I don't, she isn't pushy about it. She has provided me with helpful, practical CBT skills to improve my confidence with interpersonal communication and to reduce my anxiety. I highly recommend her! read more

I couldn't speak higher of my therapist Jada, however the intake and claims department was horrible. They lied about what insurance they take and charged me out of pocket. Even better, I talked to my insurance and they never even filed a claim. They say they offer sliding scale pricing, only to find out they do not. They are supposed to help your mental health but instead they become another hurdle to feeling better. AVOID AT ALL COST. read more

I have been attending Willis CC for several months. My therapist is Dawnielle G, and Marcelo G is my children's therapist. I am going through a divorce and Willis CC has been an integral part of helping us to navigate the challenges. Both Dawnielle and Marcelo are able to speak to our unique experiences. I am a Black woman, and I've found over the years it can be difficult to find mental health care that is relevant and relatable. I am so grateful that Willis CC is not offended by my request to work with providers that I feel can relate to our racial experience. As a matter of fact, Marcelo G generally doesn't work with small children, but made an exception to accommodate my request. He has been absolutely fantastic. Additionally, I had a minor issue with using my EAP and the intake department. Stephanie Willis personally reached out to me to address my concerns and resolve my issue. She also personally knew my family and our situation. I am so pleased with how she handled my issue and advocated for my family. She was very responsive and understanding. I love Willis CC even more after the issue because of how Stephanie addressed my concerns. Although, its very nontraditional in its setting, the staff cares and works to ensure that you are getting the care you need. I highly recommend Willis CC! read more

I've been going to Willis CC for a few years now and I've had only good experiences. I appreciate the 24 hour cancellation/reschedule policy as sometimes things come up and I have to reschedule, which is a much more flexible policy than other counseling offices I've been to. I've seen a few counselors at Willis and all have been nonjudgmental, kind, and thoughtful. I'm a firm believer in therapy and see the benefits of it each day in my own life. I found them through my insurance network (BCBS HMO). My insurance covers everything besides my $20 copay. I've never received a bill so they clearly handle their billing right, too! read more

My experience with Danielle Gaskin T Willis Counseling Center was the worst experience I have ever had with a counselor in my entire life. Dawnielle calls herself an expert in resolving family conflicts., yet with her guidance (if you can call it that) my relationship with my adult son went bad to worse. During our virtual counseling sessions, she supported my son's derogatory, inflammatory, and insulting comments towards me rather than encouraging him to express his feelings. This only created more animosity. The result of these sessions is that my son and I have not spoken to each other for a year, since our sessions ended. Dawnielle did absolutely nothing to try to encourage remediation, but instead encouraged blaming and accusations. Stay away! read more

2020 was a challenging year and I was interested in finding someone to talk to. My doctor recommended Willis CC and so I reached out. I called their office in late 2020 three times and left a message, but never received a return call. For the time, I gave up. Fast forward to mid-2021, I figured I'd try again via email. I went through the process of submitting my insurance information, describing my situation, and specifying which location would be ideal for me. Willis CC eventually ghosted me mid-conversation, never to respond again. I cannot fathom how a place providing mental health services can behave like this. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is seriously looking for help. read more

The level of professionalism needs improvement. My first therapist went on vacation and never came back. She was replaced by a very young therapist who had a poster of Brittany Spears on her wall (these sessions were video meetings due to COVID). Please note, this is an upgrade/edit from my original post. Following a devastating incident in which the therapist with whom I had built a relationship left the practice without warning to her clients or the clinic, I found myself cut off, in December, from my only lifeline. My appointment was cancelled last minute, and the updates I received from Willis changed suggestion/shape a few times. I felt confused and alone, and not in a good position to start all over with a stranger at the end of the year. Upon expressing my shock and desperation, the owner reached out and went above and beyond to re-rail me, in ways that would work for me and my situation. She was very upfront about what had happened with my former therapist, who abandoned her clients in an unprecedented manner. Not all therapists/people are the same, and it's sad that one therapist's lack of professional integrity - or general human regard for her clients' well-being and transition/discharge - did so much damage to me, other clients, and the clinic. I am grateful for the practice's willingness to correct the situation and protect my welfare at a fragile time, despite the fact that they were victimized as well. My discussions with the owner, who also seemed flustered and hurt, made me feel like human hands were behind the wheel. It's pretty rare these days for a business to show very real compassion, but perhaps this is why some people are better-suited to become therapists than others. I've been convinced to have some faith in a new therapist and consider this an isolated incident. Therapy is a crapshoot, but I hope the coming attempt will help restore the balance lost. I've been a client at WCC for a few months now and couldn't be happier with their services. I was referred to WCC through my work's EAP program. At the time I was struggling with coping with some health issues and was pretty freaked out, for lack of a better term. I was paired up with Danielle and by the time I left our first session I could tell that she was the right person for me. Over time we uncovered underlying issues that, in addition to my health issues, contributed to my "freak out" and I learned new tools that helped me find my way back to my "normal" self. Fast forward a few months and I am now in a much more comfortable place that at one time I was unsure if I would ever be able to reach again. Danielle has been invaluable in helping me understand self-acceptance and mindfulness, and has guided me through my healing every step of the way. She is very professional, personable, and non-judgmental. I actually look forward to our sessions! I highly recommend WCC for anyone who could use some guidance, big or small. Billed me three different amounts- each time increasing me and then back charged me the different due to an insurance error that was actually a mistake on their end. Had I known the actual cost I would have never continued going. Communication was terrible throughout this whole process as well. I scheduled two sessions with a counselor which went well however the rest of the staff and service are horrible. I picked this place because it was covered by my insurance only for them to tell me that isn't and that I needed to pay out of pocket. Both my father and I had called to give them our insurance information TWICE and whoever was tasked with this dropped the ball so hard. I had to stop having sessions because of this, only to receive an email 8 months later that I had a refund because I had a co-pay (Who would've f**king thought!!). Within the email, they asked my preferred method of payment (Zelle QuickPay or a paper check) and after choosing QUICK pay, they had me wait 16 days to receive it AND they said they would keep me up to date with the billing department and never did. Valerie, the lady that sent me the email and initial phone call, stated that I was to expect to receive my refund on the 29th and the day comes and I had to call 3 times to get a status, asked for the manager twice and wouldn't get transferred, was told that she would call me and never did, asked for HR's number and the regional manager's number and they want to sit here and tell me that it's the same ONE phone number to reach all these people/departments and they have no extensions??? THANKFULLY I received my refund via Zelle and will not be coming back. This was not well for my mental and emotional well-being. Think about what you do and work for a living.
