History
Established in 2005.
Riverwalk (Passages) Counseling Center was founded in a small office on Van Buren Street, right behind the YMCA in Naperville. Eventually, we outgrew the space and moved to our current location at 710 E. Ogden, Suite 320, Naperville, IL. We now have eleven therapists on staff and a psychiatrist/medical director. Each therapist has been carefully chosen to bring a unique set of skills, training and experience to our group. As part of our on-going commitment to education, we are a placement site for Masters students from Aurora, Benedictine and Lewis Universities.
Meet the Business Owner: Char S.
Riverwalk Counseling Center represents the culmination of a career of life-long learning. Ms. Scott has brought together therapists who are not only clinical experts in their field but genuinely good people. We all approach our work with passion and commitment. Char Scott started out her clinical career in an intensive addiction training program at Parkside Medical Services, then obtained a masters in social work (MSW) from Loyola University. In addition to studies in addictions, she has had significant training in group dynamics, analytical theory, chronic mental illness, and Arise interventions. She has also obtained a Type 73 school social work certificate from Aurora University. After graduation, Ms. Scott went on to develop two successful Dual Diagnosis Programs, one at MacNeal Hospital and the other at Linden Oaks Hospital. She has experience in managed care, crisis social work, ER assessments and home health.
