One day I visited the shop and asked if she ever gets any old Chet Baker (Jazz) records and she expressed they are pretty hard to come by. She then told she can order a new pressing for me and I agreed. A few weeks later, I was out of the country and got an email from Kim telling me the record had arrived. I couldn't get back to her for weeks and then one day I went into the store to pick it up. Kim saw me and was shocked bc not hearing from me she had just put the record up for sale and only moments before I walked in someone grabbed it. When I asked about the record she felt terrible and explained what happened and I quietly left. A week later I got another email from Kim expressing how terrible she felt and that she'd ordered the record again and this time she wanted to give it me for FREE! I couldn't believe it! A week later I made it into the store and declined to accept it for free but agreed to pay her purchase price. I bought several other records as well and intend to return to give her my business over and over. What a special person she is! Upon entering, the store is divided into two sections. A used/consignment store in front and a music store in back. The music store is well laid out and all the bins are well organized with 90% being alphabetized. Nice first impression. Everything is well marked and the albums are categorized by genre, with a few niche categories tossed in for good measure. "Girls who rocked, really heavy, etc". Small enough niches that you have to take a peek. Nice selections across the board for all genres. I dug through them all and grabbed records for each one. Nice way to spend an hour or so. Ended up with a couple dozen to add to my collection. Woohoo!!! The owner Kim, was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Wish it wasn't so far for me, but I will definitely be stopping in when I am back up there in a few months.

Brand new and vintage records alike are here, not every new record, but a fun eclectic mix of the old. That record remember from when my folks were kids? Found it! The album artwork is amazing, and I dint even get to the bins on the floor. My kid loves anything Stranger Things and she found some success here too. Obligatory Uncle Joes stickers were by the register, and the staff were friendly without hovering. You are almost exactly behind Cromwell Diner so f you're in Central CT this isn't far, but park with care in tiny angled lot, Can't wait to dig around another time soon.

Luckily, my wife came up with CBug's Records in East Windsor. Our transaction went as smooth as glass. First, I sent an e-mail to see if CBug's was interested, and soon Chris mailed back, saying he was. We arranged a date and a time, and since his store is on the second floor of The Vintage Shops collective, I called him from the parking lot and he walked down to check out the goods in the trunk of our car, packed into three boxes. While he was doing that, I took the opportunity to check out his store, and I gotta tell ya, it's a music junkie's paradise. Everywhere you look are LP albums, 45 singles, cassettes, eight tracks, and a ton more of very cool music memorabilia. I had a brief discussion on price with Chris, and he made me a very fair offer that I was thrilled with. My experience at CBug's could not have been any better, and I gotta give a shout out to Chris for his courtesy, professionalism, timeliness, and fairness.

The students all seem very comfortable with the instructors and demonstrated a variety of skill levels from just a few months playing to several years. There are several classrooms and teachers for a variety of instruments including violin, saxophone, etc. One of the students I know did not get on well with their first instructor and was quickly reassigned to another who they just love. It's good to know the students have options and the owners want students to have an enjoyable experience. Plenty of parking behind the building in a free public lot. Handicap entrance is on the street side of the building with on-street parking available. Restrooms available on classroom level. Store sells and rents instruments and associated items.

WHAL offers great classes for youth and adults, for beginners and experts. There are also lots of awesome showcases of locals' work - including some of my own photos once or twice - of different media. They always have a nice opening reception - often with free food and drink - which is a really nice touch and a way to meet others. Separately, I have also come here for a few mostly food events, like the CT Eats Out supper club inaugural event.
