This woman of color is prejudiced. Against people of color.
Last week I was first in line for one of her open houses at a dilapidated studio located at 551 W 152nd Street.
In spite of being the first tenant in line to view the apartment, she led me inside and immediately stepped outside to discuss the apartment with an old white man.
I overheard the conversation and his credit score was lousy and he was questionable public assistance.....and again.......not first to view the apartment.
The apartment had potential though tiny, and covered in roaches. I asked to apply being that I was first in line and thought I could make the apartment work with fumigation.
I filled out an application and in spite of being first in line to view the apartment, having the appropriate credentials to rent the apartment, I assume I too Hispanic for renting this apartment bc WILLIE SUGGS gave the apartment to the poor white man with no credit.
I wanted to say I was imagining this but when googling other reviews of Willie Suggs, I found an article in the New Yorker where she speaks of how Harlem was, and never will be for the blacks. She says blacks never owned homes in Harlem and they don't have a right too.
She says blacks are dumb for not buying properties when the happy white people did, and she has absolutely no problem with gentrification.
This woman is a shame. Her brokerage is a joke. She's unprofessional. Prejudiced. Colorist. Has no follow through or response. Do not use this woman as a broker. Unless you are white.
When emailing and texting this woman back about the apartment and if it was still available (I knew it wasn't) , she went on the email me about a court case she was testifying in that had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HARLEM STUDIO I WAS TRYING TO RENT.
She overlooked me as a young dumb poor man of color who would allow her to discriminate against me. She was wrong. I'm on a mission to inform her potential future clients what kind of woman she is.
I've published over a dozen books. I'm a writer. I LOVE writing about folks. She shouldve Googled me. Like I googled her.
This housing discrimination has to stop. We deserve equitable opportunities for housing .... And don't deserve to be overlooked for whites.
It is true, we do not have a right to Harlem. We do; however , have the right to be treated fairly when it comes to matters of business. This woman is a disgrace of a entrepreneur. read more
