I'm sure there is an ordinance down there regarding such atrocity.

As the park's namesake suggests, there is a large old water tower on the property. There's not much in the way of amenities, just a few benches and sidewalks with a seating area by the water tower. There is a nice patch of green space, but at one end is an abandoned building which was formerly a gas station. The small park basically serves as the center of attraction in the downtown area. The best place to park is across from Round Rock Donuts.

I sought this place out because it has a number of nice hiking trails. There's even a look trail that will let you go close to five miles without having to turn back. While it looks like the trail dead ends at a fence, if you continue climbing the hill you'll see that the trail continues on to the left about halfway up. Tip: The loop trail is actually a figure eight; not only that but the scenery is very pleasant; there's even cliffs and a small cave :-) The trails here go through an Austin City Park, but the land is actually owned by an HOA so please be respectful and take your trash and dog poop out with you leave.

There is a way to get to the water but I wouldn't recommend it. The cliff is steep and I'm not even sure how the one guy I saw got down there with his dog. As for bathrooms we passed one as we walked down to the water and there are a few awnings for shade which I was grateful for in the heat. The temperature goes up as you rise back up to the parking lot which is a bit small. It's a nice walk.

When we asked to purchase a park pass she directed us to park and enter the office. We parked and met with another kind employee who explained that a park pass would allow us entry to various other WILCO parks - but NOT Garey Park! So don't ask. Haha The pass will also get you certain discounts at other WILCO parks. After paying for our pass we went ahead and ventured to the first trail we could find. I will say this is a beautiful area! Nice, clean, and a fairly easy walk. Don't forget you water though. We ran into an older woman who was walking with a friend - they didn't have enough water. There are plenty of trails to walk but I will say the maps are not the best. If the park would add a teeny little sticker that said "you are here" it would be a load of help. Also, some of the markers are a little confusing. The park did add QR codes to scan so that you could pull a map up on your phone but it takes some time considering it doesn't pin your location. All in all, excited to come back to see what else the park has in store for us. It has great potential. Just need to see more of it. (And fix the maps!... might just be a 'me' problem though.)

The playground equipment is pretty standard but what made this park great is all the other stuff it's got going on. There was a musical area near the playground -- a variety of drums and things kids can bang on. I also want to note that the swing set had a high-backed adaptive swing with harness available for those that need it. Here's the best part (in my opinion). There is a miniature golf course here. How awesome is that and why don't more parks do this!? I've never seen that at any parks. You can sign out putters/balls at the rec center office (someone else posted a photo of the sign out instructions here). It appears to only be available Mon-Fri during business hours. Still, an awesome thing to have available. You can bring your own putters/balls if you come on a weekend. There was also a soccer court, tennis court, pickle ball court, football field, baseball field, and a pool with water slides. A lot to do here. Additionally, there was a birding surprise here. In the lake adjacent to the playground, there was a little island just packed with egrets. It was beautiful and unexpected.

This very large multipurpose park sits on the Sandy Creek Arm segment of Lake Travis. It is…read moresurrounded by upscale homes peering down from the hill country above. It boasts of numerous amenities such as a baseball field, volleyball court, basketball court and play scapes. There's also a hiking trail that links it to Firemans Park just a short walk away and they do have public restrooms. There's also lots of parking, although none of it is shaded. On the property you will also find a tennis court, a musical space for the kids, swings, sculpture garden and boat ramps. There's lots of covered picnic tables complete with grills for use by families and large groups. If you wish to use one of the larger covered pavilion areas, you'll need to make a reservation. You'll also find some covered picnic tables facing out towards the lake, but unfortunately on my visit, the lake bed was completely dry. This park is a kids paradise and the only things missing are a swimming pool and a soccer field (which could easily be squeezed in). I decided to shoot more videos than photos in order to capture the size and scope of this well appointed park.
