The playground equipment is pretty standard but what made this park great is all the other stuff it's got going on. There was a musical area near the playground -- a variety of drums and things kids can bang on. I also want to note that the swing set had a high-backed adaptive swing with harness available for those that need it. Here's the best part (in my opinion). There is a miniature golf course here. How awesome is that and why don't more parks do this!? I've never seen that at any parks. You can sign out putters/balls at the rec center office (someone else posted a photo of the sign out instructions here). It appears to only be available Mon-Fri during business hours. Still, an awesome thing to have available. You can bring your own putters/balls if you come on a weekend. There was also a soccer court, tennis court, pickle ball court, football field, baseball field, and a pool with water slides. A lot to do here. Additionally, there was a birding surprise here. In the lake adjacent to the playground, there was a little island just packed with egrets. It was beautiful and unexpected.

There is also a local community center that sits on the corner of the park. There is a pool also, but it looked in poor shape. There is plenty of green acreage to run around in and the Bull Ranch Creek runs down the middle of it. There's also enough room for about 10 or so cars to park in the gravel lot.

There is also a small incline that works well for some light hills practice. There is plenty of parking, bathrooms, picnic seating under a pavilion, a basketball court, a water fountain, spots for fishing, and it sits inside a nice neighborhood. I enjoy coming here for simple runs both in the morning and afternoons. There's not lighting to make it worthwhile to visit at night.. Sometimes people will bring their dogs off leash and let them roam around, so be careful of that, but for the most part people are very respectful and courteous of each other on the loop. That is all I know about the actual lake. This review is for the trails and bridges that I was there to photo. Comanche Bluff Trail is a hike and bike trail with 2 trailheads. The East trailhead is located in Taylor Park and costs 4.00 to access. Here you will find a well maintained trail and the Hoxie and Friendship Bridges and another wood bridge. The West trailhead is located off Country Rd 496 and has no fee and limited parking. This part of the trail is not well defined and we got lost and never found the primitive camping area. At this point it was starting to get hot and I was running out of water and would have been panicking if I had not had my faithful Canine with me. I gave her the "Lets Go Home" command and she found the trail back to our car Thank God! There is also horseback trail Willis Creek Park Equestrian Trail 4.00 to access and you provide proof of Coggins to gate attendant also 4.00 fee to access. And onto the main reason we were here - Bridges. I have a weird obsession with old bridges and Friendship Bridge did not let me down! FB was originally built at the turn of the century over Willis Creek. It was destroyed in a 1921 flood and reconstructed. In 1982 it was dismantled and moved to its current location in Taylor Park. FB is a Pratt Through-Truss Bridge a type of bridge patented in 1844 by father and son Caleb and Thomas Pratt. FB is one of only a few of these historic registered bridges and worth the trip.

This park is the perfect drop off point which can link you to additional trails in the area for hiking and biking. It's other advantages consist of about a dozen parking spaces, a public bathroom, water fountain, covered playscape with swings and a circular gravel trail to walk laps on. Nearby is an additional area to practice your skateboard tricks. These trails run directly next to Gilliland Creek, which means during a period of torrential rains, the trails may actually be closed off. Good spot to bring the kids, dog or a bike.

They thought of all the ways that would make it fun for a kid, and convenient for a parent. The play structure isn't your typical one, with a more obstacle-like feel, perfect for older kids. The swings were a hit for my toddler and my tweens, with them being so high off the ground. And the splash pad was so fun for all of them, with its variety of pour outs. We'll be back, with friends.

3.5 We found this…read moresmall park as we were driving in the area. It's a little ways past Murphy Park and has a lake with a dock you can walk out on. There are a legion of ducks and geese here that want to be fed but the signs say not to. Though I saw many people ignoring it. Either way, they will follow you around. The pathways are paved which is nice if you have any mobility issues. There is a little stream going down along the walking path which is nice to look at. It's about a quarter mile around the pathway. Parking has a few small sections but we had a spot. The bathrooms, however, were locked so you'll have to plan accordingly.
