We stopped here on opening day, around 1030. We found seats easily. My wife got pancakes and I got a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. I loved the fresh maple syrup and our food was good. I loved the simplicity of this place. Just be warned that it's in an old barn-type building and it's cold in there! I would definitely return if I'm ever in the area again. read more

This was a fun dining experience. Keep in mind it certainly isn't Parker's or Polly's. But overall, it was good priced and you could experience the maple syrup process. This is counter service. So it's pretty much self-help. They do have some tables. Very friendly overall. Maple ice cream is a must try. Very cozy cabin like atmosphere. It's definitely worth a try. read more

Mmmm! Right when you step out of the car, the most heavenly smell of maple syrup surrounds you. My boyfriend and I ordered a little bit of everything - one slice of French toast, one blueberry pancake, and one Belgian waffle with apples and whipped cream. Everything was so good! I think I inhaled it. My favorites were definitely the pancake and waffle. Portions are huge, and ingredients definitely tasted homemade rather than just a regular mix.. I've never been one to use a lot of syrup, but theirs is really fragrant without being overly sweet and artificial. Only thing I didn't like was the apples. They were encased in a thick, gooey syrup which wasn't that appetizing, but I ended up just scooping the apples out of it to eat with my bites of waffle. I think I would just go with a plain waffle next time! There were other interesting things on the menu like maple cotton candy, but I think we were already on a carb-filled, sugary overload (happily though). Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

Weird set up. You order your own food, wait for it, and take up your dishes after... Coffee is $2.25 a cup (small!) and you constantly have to get up from eating, to ask for a refill - and it's not good coffee. My mug had lipstick marks on it that I could take off just by using my finger - DISGUSTING. Bacon was so over cooked. Waffles were okay, but the use of frozen strawberries is awful. And why Is one waffle with frozen strawberries $8?! Coffee cups should just be paper disposable. Syrup was good. My father got blueberry pancakes and said they were good. The maple cream donut was delicious. Napkins should be readily available on the tables. read more

Was a little disappointed by the sugar house. Maybe I just didn't get what it was all about, but we drove over 2 hours and felt a bit let down. It could be in part that this year's sugaring has been impacted by the cold season, but, in addition to not offering much in the way of a demonstration, we felt a little unwelcome in the sugar room. Someone was in there when we we entered and they didn't bother acknowledging our presence. Since the point of their establishment seems to be to develop interest in their brand, I don't get the semi-rude attitude. They don't have to offer guests a view. Plus, I don't expect them to be all Disney about it, but just a quick hello and some information would have been great. However, this oddity seemed to go along with the whole place. Is it just for breakfast? Well, the room is poorly-insulated, they have a walk-up order system and serve on paper plates...... Hmm. OK, but then if the point is to see maple syrup being made, it's not official at all. No sign to indicate whether the magic is being made or, say, they're taking a break. So really, I bought maple syrup from them as a kind of validation for taking the time to drive all the way out here. I sort of got the country folk who resent having to sell the spectacle to city folk in order to make a living vibe. I can kinda get that, but either do it or don't, I guess. So thus the blah review. Very fun lively place to get a healthy American style breakfast with their pure maple syrup. It was crowded for us on a Sunday morning and the food took a pretty long time but its pleasant to chillax at one of their picnic tables to wait. You can also buy maple syrup, maple frosted donuts, maple fudge. I also had a talk with the guys in the back running the maple syrup boiling machines to learn how the process works. Probably good for kids to learn about. Worth the stop if you are in the area. Great for families and a real authentic "New England" experience. read more

I found this place simply by googling "Western Mass sugar shacks" and I'm so happy I did. Definitely an experience worth trying at least once. There's something about eating homemade food with backyard ingredients that is just the bees freakin knees! We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning-the last Sunday morning of the season-and it was such a great choice. They have these amazing maple frosted donuts that are sooo delicious. I got decent sized stack of pancakes and a side of sausage. They were both as good as I could've hoped, but the syrup was what I'll go back for. You could just tastes how clean and fresh it was. I didn't get a chance to check out the gift shop, but there's always next time. It's just a matter of waiting on the trees to do their thing! read more

Went Saturday at 1:30pm. That is a good time. They close at 3pm, busy time is over, no wait. Plenty of time to check out the sap boiling in the back room while waiting for breakfast. We ordered everything on the menu just about. And I finished every bit. This was the most delicious breakfast I have ever had. French toast, Belgian waffle, pancakes all cooked perfect and then I smothered it all in that sweet syrup. The sausages were plump and meaty. But the standout was the bacon. They said it was new this year. Best I have ever had bar none. And of course we finished with sugar on snow. I mentioned it was our first and a gentleman came out from the back and gave a demonstration at our table. So this will be our regular stop, along with the Yankee Candle village stores. We also turned off the main road into Deerfield historic district right near the restaurant. Very nice old houses. read more

It's rustic, which is nice. Went today, which was a Sunday around 10:30am. Was busy. You order your food at the counter, which is fine, except there were no tables available and people were standing next to tables awkwardly waiting for the occupants to vacate. Not a fan. I found them rather pricey. Coffee has free refills, but is $2.25 and it's a small cup (like 1/2 cup size) so multiple trips are required (which could be a management move to keep visits short). I had the waffle which I found ordinary at the over $6 tag. The bacon looked (and tasted) like the paper thin, precooked bacon you can buy at the store. I'm a maple fanatic. Deserts, cooking, baking, can't get enough. So I can say as an unpaid (and unproven) maple professional, that their maple products are very good. Expensive, but good. Proof? I got a maple cream donut. Maple cream was delicious! The donut? Stale, like the plain donuts in a box of mixed flavors. I get the farm and maple products are the bread and butter, and I appreciate adding the food. But either the prices need to be realistic for the quality or the quality (better recipe?) needs to go up. I don't think the physical set up is efficient for either eating or observing. Truth be told, I never left the main room to see the operation. I came for the food and left disappointed. read more

I felt it was worth the two hour drive. It's not fancy but a sugar house isn't supposed to be. It's a pop-up restaurant that exists for a few short weeks during sugaring off season. I'm giving five stars for the totality of the experience .....the rustic wood building, the smell of wood smoke as you get out of your car, the perfectly cooked pancakes, and the friendly people who work here. It's a slice of Americana and an old way of doing things that hopefully isn't going anywhere, you should get out and experience it if you haven't yet. They have a really good menu ....pancakes (tender & fresh, right off the grill), blueberry pancakes, waffles, English muffin with maple cream, eggs, sausage, bacon, maple donuts and you can even get fresh 'sugar on snow' in a bowl! read more
