I've found the store to be fine for shipping. This review is about their "free" knife sharpening. Williams Sonoma advertises free knife sharpening (see photo of sign on their entrance). Prior to dropping my knife off I called to confirm they had free knife sharpening and was told "Yes, your first knife is free and it's $5 a knife after that." Great, I only had one knife I needed sharpened so I went in on a Tuesday evening to get it sharpened and they tried to charge me $5. (I KNOW this isn't a large amount of money but if they advertise a free service it should be free) I said I thought it was free and the associate said "Nope, I have to charge you" So I explained I had just called a few days ago and was told the first knife was free. She said that was true but a minimum of two knifes is required for that. This is not specified on their signage or by the associate who spoke with me over the phone. She ended up waving the fee for me (but was clearly not pleased) and told me it would be ready for pick up by EOD Thurs or Fri morning. I show up Sat morning and it's not ready yet. I was told to come back in half hour...even though it had already been more than 3 days. read more

I love a high end shop. Sometimes it doesn't matter the product! These days, if you have a passion for the culinary arts, you can't miss Williams Sonoma. Glasses, spices luxury cookware and everything a chef, either amateur or professional could want. A very pleasant young lady helped me order some induction cookware and I was encouraged to purchase some other nice kitchen gadgets. Great stuff and great service are a great combination. read more

I used to work in Beverly Hills and had my lunch hour in the city center. I'd drop by the Williams Sonoma there form time to time to daydream and buy things on sale or clearance. I visited this Scottsdale location a few days after Christmas and there was nothing being cleared out after the holidays except for a few broken or damaged items in the back corner of the store. Things like selling 1 candlestick holder when it originally came as a pair and that 1 is dented. The rest of the items were pretty much overpriced. You can get Le Creuset, for example, at the Chandler outlet about 20 minutes away. They always have things at 20% less than Williams Sonoma. As for premium cutting boards? Try Marshalls and Tuesday Morning. I got a cherry Legnoart cutting board at Marshalls for $12 and a teak cutting board at Tuesday morning for $7. read more

Terrible experience at this location and on their online website. I saw an item that was on sale online. Drove 45 minutes to the store, only to find out it wasn't on sale at all. The male manager refused to honor the sale price I had seen earlier (luckily I took a picture of it on my phone). They also did not honor the 25% discount I had received from their OWN company. What a scam! I was so irate that they wasted my time. Manager didn't offer any solutions to my issues. Told him their website is messed up. Seriously I have had better....yes BETTER customer service at Walmart. How low can you go, WS? Anyway, after 45 minutes with their customer service, I was able to purchase the said item. I purchased a Breville Barista Pro espresso maker from Williams Sonoma Scottsdale Fashion Square in October. I purchased this early for a Christmas gift as I was worried with all of the supply chain issues I might not be able to purchase one closer to Christmas. As it turns out, the Breville espresso machines all went on sale at Williams Sonoma in December for $100 off. I went into the store with my receipt hoping I would at least be able to get a gift card or store credit for the difference in what I paid and the sale price. Well, the store manager would not even let me explain before shaking her head and saying no before I could even ask what I wanted. The snooty store manager was more interested in correcting my pronunciation of Breville than helping me. I called Williams Sonoma online customer service and they said they would have been able to help me if I had purchased online but in this case it is up to the store manager so I am out of luck. Spend your money elsewhere, there are plenty of other stores that carry the same items with much friendlier policies and customer service than Williams Sonoma Scottsdale Fashion Square. read more

This location is usually busy as it is located inside of the mall at Fashion Square. The have a good selection of merchandise. Be sure to check out some of the clearance items. Right after Christmas last year I got some gourmet vanilla marshmallows marked down to $1 and they were totally delish in my hot chocolates. You never know what you might come across so the clearance is worth checking out. Besides that, they have a good selection of some nice pans and bakeware. I am a fan of the Nordic brand. Some of the Williams Sonoma dessert bread mixes are tasty as well. read more

I would suggest the management of this store focus on training their staff to foster an environment that embraces inclusion and diversity. While shopping for Christmas gifts at this store I was approached by a sales person when I stopped to look at a Nespresso espresso machine. She told me they were on sale at the best price they will ever be. She checked a clipboard and gave me a price of $89. Since the price shown was $149 I said I would take one. I waited in line and she brought one out to me from the back. When I finally made it to the check out I was told the price was $104. The sales person showed the check out the paperwork on the sale but was told that was wrong. While the check out was not quite rude she was not in a helpful mood. I felt this was a form of bait and switch and complained to the corporate office. They were not helpful either. I will not shop at this store again and urge others to check out the many bad reviews of this store and shop someplace else. read more

Went here on Friday because they were having a great deal on some skillets I have been looking at. I had gone to Sur la Table earlier in the day for another item and my experiences at these two places were quite different. Everyone here was very nice and quickly asked if I needed any help as I was browsing which was great. However, whenever I asked a specific question they had little to no knowledge of a good answer. Anything from "I think this is priced wrong" to "Do you know the difference between this style pan and that?" each question was met with fumbling around for words or them needing to ask a manager... and I thought I was asking pretty simple questions. The selection here is great for specialty items, but if you are going here for pots, pans or knives my experience with the three different people that I spoke with was that they knew very little about the products they sold and had zero hands on experience with them. Very nice people... just wouldn't feel comfortable buying anything off their recommendations and will look elsewhere to buy my equipment. read more

If you're looking for an unusual cookbook, they have a ton of good choices, as well as many different cookie cutter shapes, for those looking to add to their collection. I went in to purchase a knife or two, along with a nice cast iron pan, and ended feeling like I was wasting the time of the sales staff. It was the manager and one sales associate. I was in the store for fifteen minutes, and had walked by both of them multiple times, along with standing at the knife display staring. All this time, neither even acknowledged me or offered to help. Granted, the manager was helping some lady pick out dinnerware, but could have at least said hello or said something to the associate. Nope. I had to ask, and ended up getting an eye roll. I felt awkward the whole trying to ask questions, and finally gave up asking, picked out a knife, and a nice cast iron in red. He had to go to the back to search, but couldn't find it, said the manager would help, who couldn't have given me an uglier glare. When the associate went in the back again, I told the manager to put my stuff away, I was going somewhere else. The snobby attitude really rolled off of him. I ended spending more than I had planned into Sur La Table, simply because they helped me as soon as walked in the door. I love Williams-Sonoma, but not enough to be treated like a second class citizen. I'll take my money elsewhere when I resupply the new kitchen in a couple months. read more

On Feb 8th their website had plastered all over it "ORDER TODAY! GUARANTEED BY VALENTINES!" So it's Valentine's, I take off work early figured I'd work this weekend to make up for it. Head home to get my pan and head to my boyfriends house to surprise him. Get home, no package but a notice to sign. So I drive an hour down to the UPS hub to get the package. It must be my pan because they "Guaranteed by Valentine's" I get down there and the truck isn't back that has my package. So I sit there and wait for over an hour before we find out these packages were not my pan. It is now 5pm rush hour in Phoenix my drive to my boyfriends house is now 20miles 1hour and 30 minute drive. And low and behold these ass holes lied. I looked up my package and it's expected delivery is the 15th. HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HELP ME MAKE VALENTINES DINNER!? I feel like I should be able to sue these people for false advertising. If there are any lately knowledgeable people that read this please let me know if that's possible because I would purse that. Needless to say, their guarantees aren't worth sh*t and I cut work early just to waste my day and miss this stupid holiday and spend it alone in a ups hub all because I Was stupid enough to believe this horrendous company's promises. If you are a Yelper, chances are better than good that you appreciate cool kitchen stuff. Williams-Sonoma is the Disneyland of cool kitchen stuff, and the weekend before Xmas I went out in search of gifts like any good procrastinating guy. The store was bustling and busy, but the staff were great and very helpful. They had samples of this amazing hot chocolate that puts Starbucks to shame. My brother and I were arguing about what a weird little tool did, and we found an employee named Claudia, who was friendly, funny, and helpful. She explained what it was for, which sucked, because it meant my little brother was correct, which pains me to no end. Claudia had some great tips on cooking gadgets, and really made the shopping experience fun. Well done WS! read more

Yesterday late afternoon, I browsed at this location inside of Scottsdale Fashion Square to look at the pretty Easter tablescape, aside from checking out whether their seasonal cookie cutters were on sale. There was an older sales associate (petite, skinny, haggard, graying stringy hair, no makeup, no nice wardrobe...just looking like she lives in a trailer) who kept following us customers around and repeatedly inquiring whether we needed help and while we politely said "no thanks", she continued following (& following)- targeting the (approachable) lone ones. Pretty much borderline stalking. There WAS a copper pumpkin cookie cutter on sale that I thought of purchasing solely to make a picture frame ornament (as I have other like frames in my collection for displaying), but because she was such a distraction in this store that affected my mind trying to decide whether it's really worth to add said cookie cutter to my collection, I changed my mind and left (there are many other (cheaper) cutters I can find elsewhere anyway, right?). Instead of wasting time following customers and pretending she's stocking something, how about she cleaned up that disgusting stove with a saucepan on the burner with some cold food in it that needed washing and also throw out those madeleine cookies and clean the baking pan? Sorry that I didn't take a photograph, must be I was in such a hurry to get the heck out of there. I will be reporting her to the boss. I usually shop at the Biltmore Fashion Park location or order online, so I will definitely stay at these two. There was no reason for her conduct. We customers looked very nice and had money to spend and this location is not in a ghetto neighborhood. My suggestion to this bored pest is to get a job elsewhere that doesn't deal with the public and to improve her appearance (we customers take the time to look nice, we expect store people to look nice, too). She judged customers, we customers judge her in return. Don't like it, too bad. My forewarning to businesses who treat customers as such the above, I will be more than happy to report you and give you a 1-star rating on Yelp. Meantime, leave us alone and let us shop in peace(!) UPDATE: I received an e-mail reply from Williams-Sonoma on the following Thursday morning assuring me that they have forwarded my experience to their Retail Store Management that reviews / follows up with each store's sales associates. I simply mentioned said pestering sales associate as well as the dirty stove- pretty much from what I reviewed above. And, it was totally not acceptable to this company.. I will absolutely never shop at Williams Sonoma ever again, and neither should you, if you value being treated how a decades-long paying customer deserves to be treated. I received a house warming gift of a dining room table, that was absolutely falsely represented on the website. Unfortunately I was not at home the day it was delivered so I was unable to refuse the delivery, which I would have, given its state. The table looks like it was made of linoleum or plastic, and not wood as the website suggested. Further, the website also falsely represented the table as a wood color when it was in fact grey--completely different. All this would have been acceptable had a return been an option on a gift I did not choose, but clearly I am here writing this review, so that was not the case. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 3 different customer service representatives today who did not represent customer service in any sense of the word. The first representative refused to return the order, explaining it was a final sale item. I explained I would gladly accept store credit, given it was a gift, and she plainly refused. I asked politely to speak with someone in her management since I understand she didn't come up with this policy, and she put me on hold..FOR 40 MINUTES and then hung up. I called a second time. The second service representative, Jessica, spent the majority of our phone call arguing with me about the company's policies. I explained to her that I was not there to argue with her company's policies, but to reach a reasonable compromise, given that, after all, this was a gift that I had not selected for myself. She repeatedly drilled the same lines she had already said to me in an increasingly hostile voice and refused to connect me to a manager. I explained that the table was a gift and the table was not my choice. She refused to believe me, indicating that there was no proof since the table wasn't on a gift registry. (Who creates a registry for a new house?) I explained that you could see the billing name and address was clearly different from the mailing name and address, proving it was a gift, and that I had the receipt if she couldn't see that in the Williams Sonoma database. Finally, after explaining for what felt like the 3rd time that I was not here to argue with Williams Sonoma, but in fact to continue using their products, she "connected me to her management" which then resulted in a dead line again. I then called a third time. I begged the third representative not to hang up on me and to please put me through to her management so I didn't have to explain for a third time the same situation that Williams Sonoma customer service representatives are clearly not authorized to handle. Naturally, she refused and insisted I relay her story. I explained I had already been put through this twice and would rather not waste another hour. She instead pointed out I'd already wasted 5 minutes of her life, and I better get talking because she wouldn't put me through to her manager until I relayed the circumstances to her. (Try 2 hours of my own life, but that's clearly not of concern at Williams Sonoma.) Finally after relaying the circumstances to her, she told me in fact her manager wasn't even in the office on a Sunday, and wouldn't be back until Tuesday. She said she'd "submit it in the system." Wish she had told me this beforehand and I would have asked to be circuited to a representative whose manager was actually in the office, but my time's not valuable to Williams Sonoma so I really shouldn't be surprised at this point. As I expected, she had the same answer as the previous two representatives--that she was not authorized to return the table which was gifted to me. She did agree to return the six chairs gifted to me, but said I would have to call the scheduling services myself to organize it...cherry on top of great customer service. (Why wouldn't they call the customer instead of forcing the customer through ridiculous wait-times and unhelpful representatives, yet again?) Overall, I am incredibly disappointed, given my history with Williams Sonoma. I used them as my wedding registry 5 years ago and have spent years as a loyal customer, overall spending tens of thousand of dollars there, and they were unwilling to compromise on just a couple thousand of that (which they wouldn't have lost anyway in an exchange or store credit). It's terrible to argue with a place I've put so much faith in my entire life. I would have loved to continue the tradition with our new home, but needless to say, I will never be able to move forward with them again. Especially with Williams Sonoma Home. Given that they have few to no physical locations, you would think their business model relies on ensuring a positive customer service experience from their online customers--presumably their primary source of revenue--and therefore that they would value them more, but I assure you this is not the case. read more

Customer service is above and beyond. Had trouble with an on-line order when the discount code would not work on-line, the 800 customer service number was no help. I called the store and they very patiently placed my order with the correct discount and shipping. Then the store helped with a return when the product arrived in damaged condition. I will place all future orders through the store instead of on-line since the store takes care of issues and provides excellent customer service. read more

Terrible service. Act as if they could care less about helping customers. I was in the store last week and I nor another customer could get checked out. In line at the cash register for 15 minutes. Only 2 people working and one of them was at the counter looking something up on their computer. What would have made all the difference is if she had had a descent attitude and explained her situation, instead she had a very snarky tone when she told us she would help us soon as she could. Visited the store today. Staff did not greet me or my husband when we walked in but rather stayed talking near the center of the store. As I waked in I remembered the name of another store I'd been trying to think of and mentioned it to my husband. It happened to be another cooking/housewares store. At that point I heard a staff member make a very snotty remark to her coworkers because I'd mentioned a competitor. When she realized I heard her she very disingenuously asked if I needed help. For high end store I was shocked how shabbily she treated me. Not one of the three staff members left the counter area. I should have asked to talk to a manager but I just wanted to get out of there. I ordered an item (pizza oven) to be delivered Dec. 24th as a gift and it finally showed up Jan. 5th and it is broken .They said they could deliver a new one in one week, January 16th too late for the party December 25th, January 1st, January 8th,January 15th, the national college championship game.No one should buy anything from them and expect to receive it in working order when you may need it. They will not assist you with a return, you are on your own.Go ahead,buy your wife a gift and piss her off!!! I have had wonderful sales staff, but have experienced a HORRIBLE male manager. I had purchased a large all stainless "all clad" crock pot. TWICE it did not turn on - it was defective. I returned it, could not find the receipt, told him to look it up on my Wells Fargo debit card. He looked it up and insisted it wasn't there. Actually wondered "if I really purchased it there." I have purchased thousands of dollars of gift cards, and wedding gifts at this location. (In fact at one of the bridal showers, they had sold the exact gift twice from this store, even though she was registered there. They had made a big mistake on the registry). Back to the rude male manager. I told him he did not have to credit my debit card, he could give me a store credit. He insisted he could not do that "because I might go and take the gift card and use it at Pottery Barn." This was his exact quote. He also said "we are not responsible if this appliance isn't working, ship it to all Clad." Hello? Then why would I buy anything from Williams Sonoma if they don't stand behind it? I left in tears, and I left the appliance there. My daughter told me to call the Williams Sonoma at the Biltmore. She said their staff is fabulous. The manager was exceptional! He went on my credit card and found the charge immediately. He told me he would help me in any way possible, he never criticized the other manager. I went and picked up my gift card at the Fashion Square Store. (The manager at the Biltmore arranged this, I did not want to talk with anyone). I will never step my foot in THIS store again. Even though I've had fabulous dealings with sales people at this store, just not this particular manager. (Colleen is a wonderful sales person there, very helpful!)
