Here's where I get real honest. My kitchen? Used to be straight up mess. A plethora of pots and pans, scads of bakeware, and too many gadgets and doohickeys to count spilled from my cabinets and burst forth from my drawers. Thankfully, we bought a house with a full basement complete with built-in storage. Chaos reigned in and relocated to more spacious storage quarters and my kitchen (and I) breathed a sigh of relief.
I blame Williams-Sonoma.
There are some upscale housewares type stores that are damn near intimidating. The moment you breech the entryway, they can sense you are incapable of making a soufflé that does not fall. They know that you are a wannabe. And they treat you as such. There is none of that nonsense at Williams-Sonoma. Not only do they not give attitude, they hold classes and demonstrations (check out the link below) to help make you a better cook. If you decide to take a class you also receive 10% off all in store purchases that day. Not too shabby.
Maybe you tend to be more of a mix/jar type cook (no judgement here--if it is tasty, I don't care how you get it to the table). Williams-Sonoma has a number of items to help you out. Seriously check out some of their condiments. Yum!
Aside from all the cooking wonder, the staff there is always super nice. Returns have never been an issue, even when returning duplicate items that were inadvertently purchased from a centralized gift registry versus the Williams-Sonoma registry.
Speaking of registries: if you are looking to set one up, I highly recommend Williams-Sonoma. They offer a number of incentives and free gifts for simply registering for certain products and even more free gifts when someone purchases them. Very nice.
My only wish? Is that Williams-Sonoma was closer to me so I didn't have to schlep out there after work. Fortunately, their website carries even more than their retail stores. Makes shopping so much easier. Join Williams-Sonoma Reserve (or better yet, get someone to gift it to you) and enjoy free shipping all year. Not quite as much fun as playing in store, but well worth it if you have the yen to shop outside of normal store hours (or hate the mall as much as I do).
Williams-Sonoma. Hit it up. And invite me over for dinner, ok?
