The place to fly in Northern California for beginning soaring pilots, and experienced cross country pilots. For new pilots, Williams provides an all glass fleet with ships up to Open Class performance for rent. Instructors has deep experience, and the best is the social side, with the Valley Soaring Association (valleysoaring.net) holding seminars, racing series and evening dinners. For rides, the gliders are clean and safe. For boys, this is the place to learn about handling airplanes and the basics of flying. See pics on some of the cloudscapes.

WOW! What a great experience this was. I went up to Williams last week for a glider ride and it was amazing. It was only a 40 minute drive from Sacramento and well worth it. I did the 30 minute glider ride but it felt like so much longer. Once I got over the initial butterflies, I was able to relax and enjoy the views of Sutter Buttes and Mt Lassen. My pilot, Ed, was very informative and shared stories about the history of gliders, you could tell he is very passionate about his craft. I highly recommend trying this out, it won't disappoint!

The glider that we were towed up to 3000 feet in. We had to sit side by side in the back and our pilot was seated in front of us.

Our pilot, Crazy Ed, told us all about the process of gliding and was very responsive to all our questions.

They had 3 bartenders, making sure everyone drinks were topped off. LOL The band was playing good music, which had a lot of people on the dance floor, including me and van. The buffet style meal was plentiful and delicious. The line for this meal seemed to flow without hiccups. It seemed Venus was in charge of this department. (she works front desk) Job well done I saw Chris (operations manager) running around and making sure things were in place, like extension cords, to make this event happen.. The silent auctions consist of paintings, trip to Mexico, etc... They also had candles for sale. Not sure up this point how this turned out. Augustine, the owner, greeted everyone, making it such a warm welcoming environment. It was nice to see people involved in aviation and being able to meet them first hand. Can't wait till next party hosted by Augustine !!

Park was great - very nice and informative about flying. We took off, suffered an engine problem and had to declare an emergency and return to airport. I rescheduled, but later called to postpone because of a potential conflict and was told there'd be a $50 charge. I said I'd try to make it for scheduled time. I called before scheduled time to say I couldn't make it. The person I spoke to remembered my emergency problem flight and said he'd get back to me - no one has. Six months later, the work is still not done, despite numerous promises that it would be done "next week." The wing was finally delivered, but the flange to attach it to the fuselage needed to be repaired as well. Why that wasn't removed when the wing left is a mystery to me. Still no paperwork for the repairs. Now at seven months. The flange has been replaced, but the paperwork for it is missing, so my wing still can't be put back on my plane. Rivets were missed on the skin and now I have a wrinkle that will oil can. Steve patched a corroded fairing without speaking to me. I would have replaced the entire thing. Now I have to pay to have that work redone. Steve also damaged my exhaust ports. He claims the damage was done by my mechanic, despite the photo of it being loaded on his trailer without any damage. Parts were removed and not replaced, which will cost me more money for my local mechanic to correct. It's a freakin' nightmare. And, we haven't even started on the corrosion to my other wing. Not that I'll let Steve anywhere near it. Update: 03-01-13. A bolt was removed from my landing gear assembly by Steve. Without it, the plane can't be taken off jacks. Still waiting for him to send the bolt. 9 months and counting ... Steve likes to say he is "wearing the white hat." Looks more like dingy brown to me.
