The Roof they installed is without problems. When I had issues with water leaks around the chimney, he came out and said it was my problem. They did try twice to fix the problem. Eventually he said It was the chimney. I was so frustrated with him I just gave up. It took two years and numerous calls. I eventually gave up and had a different company come out and fix the problem. They solved the problem in 30 minutes. It cost me $175. I am dissatisfied with his responses to me. Does the Chimney needwork...yes. The problem was the sealant around the flashing and the way it was secured to the chimney. I also had damage to aluminum flashing around my windows when his gutter contractor used the window sill to stand on while installing new gutters. He didn't offer to solve anything. The new gutters are good, the contractor's employee was not. No resolution was given. read more

Unimpressed. This is my second time bringing William Penn in for an estimate, with the first time having them estimate much higher than other roofers. This time was worse. They portend to be a high end roofer that will cost more, but will be worth it because of the quality material and workmanship. Granted, the mobile sales van that pulled into my driveway was impressive. Long story short, the verbal estimate exceeded all other estimates by $5,000. What's worse is that they ultimately declined a $23,000 job because the sky lights were "too complicated". Too complicated for a high end roofer to replace or repair? No other roofer balked. William Penn strikes me as a company that cherry picks work that maximizes profit. I would not recommend. read more

I had a small gutter job, not only to clean out the gutter on a balcony but also to clean it outside from soot and pollen. When he finished, the gutter was spotless, I was pleased. They did not try to upsell, which is what attracted me to use them. Bigger companies would not do this small job. I would use them again for a large project and recommend them. read more

These guys were absolutely awesome start to finish. I needed a gutter to be repaired and a gutter specialist attempted to tell me the entire length of gutter would need to be replaced. I made a few calls and William Penn came out reviewed the gutter and fixed it the same day. This was excellent, especially given that I had significant rain water that was pooling in my backyard. Not to mention they fixed it for 15% of the cost I was previously quoted. read more

We called William Penn Roofing and made an appointment with David, the owner. He couldn't come to see the job for 8 days. We said that was ok and that we could wait. When he arrived, he did the inspection and took many pictures. He said he would give us an estimate soon. He never called or asked for our e-mail. So after 2 weeks, we had to reach out to him. He said he gave the info to his office and they would contact us. So after a month, we received no quotes and no service from David. We called him on the phone and he acted like he never came out to our house. He was playing dumb and then he started to apologize. A complete waste of our time. I can't say enough great things about David and his team. They replaced my roof and the work was beautifully done, but it was the service leading up to the work that was so noteworthy. I had intially called him about a roof estimate, based on an excellent review I had read about him on Neighborhood.com for work he had done in my area. When he came to assess my roof, he was honest about what was needed, and what did not need to be done in the time frame I proposed. I appreciated his honesty. He went a step further and offered another service which I needed, but didnt know he provided. My garage trim is wood and was rotting and in need of repair/paint.He said he could not only help repair and beautify this trim, it would not require more maintenance based on the material used.He promised what he delivered, and in a clean and timely fashion. My garage looks great, and is newly weather sealed as well. William Penn Roofing replaced our roof and gutters & downspouts. We are very pleased with their workmanship and highly recommend them. Their quote was quite competitive, and they were far and away the most knowledgeable and willing to listen of all the contractors we checked out. Owner David La Salle spent over an hour surveying the job, even climbing up into the unfinished attic to examine some trouble spots. He made excellent, experienced suggestions about how to correct an ongoing problem with poor air flow which had made our upstairs get hot every summer. His estimate of how many sheets of plywood would be needed under the roof was very accurate--an important component of the total cost of the job. His office provided large samples of available roof colors, and even gave us addresses of previous customers so we could see what a full roof in different colors looked like. This helped us make a color choice we are really happy with. Once on the job, the crew was friendly, efficient and hardworking. The company even supplied a port-a-potty so workers would not need to use our facilities! I asked for a tarp to cover the contents of our garage attic while that part of the roof was being done, and David bought it and installed it himself. He went out of his way to mesh his crew's schedule with ours so the job would be completed before the holidays. When the job was done, David and his crew were painstaking in the way they cleaned up the roofing debris from our yard, sweeping with a magnet several times to get at nails hidden in the grass. We will definitely be using William Penn Roofing again to replace our windows--another service they provide. read more
