Two stars because Chris W is one of the best physical therapists I have ever had and I would…read morerecommend him to anyone recovering from major orthopedic surgery. Chris would get six stars if I could give them. That said, the new "intake team" is grotesquely incompetent, loses paperwork, can't identify ICD-10 codes, blames coworkers when simple tasks aren't done, and lies for days about when work that used to take NWRA desk staff five minutes is going to be completed. After giving them my business for years I gave up and am looking to go somewhere else for PT because the clerical staff's incompetence is standing in the way of me getting the therapy my surgeon prescribed. It's a shame the low-level workers are so awful because they have some of the best physical therapists in Salem. Too bad their data entry flunkies do everything in their power to prevent you from getting to work with them.

Warning to Women: If you are being seen by Chris Woods,…read more make sure you are on guard at all times. Or have someone you trust with you. He was inappropriate with me. While working on my shoulder in 2019 (I was laying on my back on the table and he was sitting on a stool on my right)while working on it my hand was in the air between us and my eyes were closed. I felt fabric under my hand suddenly. He had layed the back of my hand on his crotch. I was in shock and I froze. I wish I had the nerve to say something right then but I have extreme anxiety. I tried to yank my hand back but he kept holding on to it like nothing happened. He would also bring up random questions like "What would your stripper name be?" Or say other inappropriate things. I went to the police and filed a report but the police said "we believe he is socially awkward so we won't press charges." You can not be socially awkward like that with clients. It is not okay. I have been too afraid to post my review but this is still tormenting me 2 years later and I don't want it to happen to anyone else.

Only went for a couple visits because they were so unprofessional…read more Every time they kept me waiting 20-40 minutes after my appointment started before I could be seen. The communication level from staff was terrible, making me extremely uncomfortable, unaware of the processes they were doing, or how long I would be sitting there alone with devices strapped all over me. From the doctor's conversations I did not get the impression he was confident about the diagnosis or process for treatment. He appeared to be just blindly guessing and chasing leads and hoping for the best. I did not record any perceptible change in health or my conditions after my visits. The staff wore insufficient plastic face shields instead of masks during COVID, and get right up in your face to get water or items from lockers in the tiny waiting room. From the Christian music playing in the waiting room to the Bible on the desk to the "Thank the Lord" talk from the doctor I felt VERY uncomfortable the entire time I was in the office. I've never needed PT before, so I didn't know what to expect and thought this must be pretty normal, but after having conversations with multiple friends and family who have had PT I learned that their experiences were NOTHING like mine, and I was shocked at how different our stories were. I went there because my primary care physician wrote the referral to them specifically and our insurance covered it. If I were to do it again I would rather pay out of pocket and go somewhere else.

Staff took their time to listen to and evaluate me thoroughly and then provided full-service treatment that was proof to me that they cared. They provided more than just advice and stretches, but also comprehensive workouts, trigger point and massage therapy, and tons of other things within their scope of practice that I did not even know about, but were extremely helpful. They hav transformed the way I see my care for my physical health and I am so grateful to know them!

I fell on one knee the day after Christmas and it was slow to heal. I had my GP x-ray it, and to…read morebetter understand what I was in for, I got an app't with an orthopedist. This was easy, I was taken in quickly, and preregistered easily on MyChart, the corporation's proprietary website. Check-in at the clinic took about 5 minutes, I was taken to the examination room at the appointed time, and Dr. Carol Chang, a DO specializing in sports medicine, examined me thoroughly. First-rate bedside manner, listened well, and did not push chargeable procedures. She called up the x-rays on her desktop computer and explained to me what was going on. I was given exercises to do, as we were in accord about proceeding conservatively. I have no hesitation in recommending this clinic or this provider. I am given to understand that when Salem Health acquired this clinic on 9/29/23, nearly all the former staff were retained.

By the time I arrived home, my knee was sore and swollen. My PCP referred me to a sports medicine specialist for an MRI, and I learned that I'd torn my ACL tendon. My options were limited, cortisone shot, ice and care with my movements. The only other option was surgery. Fast-forward to 2020 after my relocation to Oregon. I'd done okay since, with the occasional pain and swelling. I was excited to explore the wilderness and go hiking in the PNW! I joined my kids on a trip to Silver Falls and made the challenging 7 mile hike, but paid for it afterwards and knew I couldn't continue without addressing my knee. I got another MRI locally confirming the damage and delayed seeing an Orthopedic doctor during the pandemic. Once I felt more comfortable, I went to a consultation at Hope Orthopedic and heard, once again, that my options were either to live with the pain and swelling and be careful OR to have surgery. I gave the green light and got a call to schedule with Willamette Surgery Center (a couple blocks down the street) within a couple of weeks. I'd received a call outlining everything, but no reminder about test requirements and had to delay because of a lack of a required Covid test 2 days prior. Pretty unusual, I thought, in this day and age of text reminders! Either way, I pushed it about 2 weeks out and confirmed my 18+ adult driver/health supervisor for the next few days. My friend was great to be there (Willamette Surgery Center) for me and took good care of me afterwards. I've since seen my doctor and had multiple physical therapy appointments and am on my way to recovery! The PT has been essential in the success and I've enjoyed seeing the progress. Thanks to all at Hope Orthopedics, I'm looking forward to hiking again without pain this Spring!
