I came in to see Dr Chuck for burning, stiff neck pain and knee pain. The intake process took about an hour as he is super thorough, he sees, hears and listens to you. I never at any point felt rushed. As he examined my posture and spine, Dr Chuck showed me what he was seeing and he gave me some exercises to help posture and subluxation from life and scoliosis. He treats and works on the body as a whole, not just the spine. In my opinion, this puts him at the top of the list. He is passionate about chiropractic and helping you feel your best. I came to Dr. Chuck with a very sore back and extremely tight and knotted-up shoulders with burning pain, as well as daily headaches. During my first appointment, Dr. Chuck spent over an hour going over my medical history and examining my posture and alignment. He is very serious about his work and extremely thorough. He explained everything he was doing every step of the way and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I have since been back a few times and I don't have any pain at all: no burning pain, no headaches, nothing! Not only has Dr. Chuck helped realign my body, he also showed me different stretches I can do on my own at home. Dr Affatato took one look at me and quickly showed me the door I'm sure believing that I couldn't be helped. No not really more the exact opposite. We went through the intake process isolating what areas to focus and which to leave for the next visit. He gave me relief after the first visit which is greatly appreciated. His approach has allowed the adjustments to "stick" and stay with me not return to their painful, more familiar positions. Somewhat typical guy that I am, I had occasional neck and shoulder pain but suffered through it. One day I woke up and felt nearly immobile, and the pain was awful. At my wife's suggestion (because I was a real skeptic about chiro), I gave in and called MBC. The helpful office staff scheduled me in immediately and got all the paperwork done in advance. I met with Dr Chuck, who has a really great personality, wonderful rapport, and obivously knew his stuff. We discussed the current issue and history going back 10 years, and Dr Chuck correctly identified that much (if not all) of this stemmed back to an injury 10 years ago. The session ended with some great bodywork, a plan that fit my schedule for return visits, and homework in the form of some great online guides for stretches. The immediate pain was gone within a day or two, and over the next few weeks we continued the work with an eye toward healing and prevention. OUCH, MY BACK HURTS! Lol, that's what I was saying until I paid a visit to Dr. Chuck Affatato. My back has been anything but exceptional due to car accident a few years back, my rather large breast augmentation, and continual abusing snowboarding (or rather falling delightfully down a mountain side on my butt) trips. My symptoms included tight neck and shoulders as well as a shooting pain up my spine 1-2 times a day when leaning over. I began having trouble sleeping and finally, after a recent agonizing trip to New York, had had enough and went in search of a good Chiropractor. Too my rescue was Dr. Chuck Affatato at Mission Bay Chiropractic! Upon arrival, I was pleasantly greeted by a very kind and professional Dr. Affatato who gave me a full exam in order to properly asses the causes and cures of my ailments. He showed me how various movements and activities had tightened certain muscles in my back, leading to my pains. For example, having a breast augmentation under the muscle had rolled the muscles (don't ask me what the technical name of these muscles are, but Dr. Affatato knew!) in my shoulders forward, causing tightness in my neck and shoulders. He also gently assessed my lower back pains, noting that due to muscle tightness my left leg was about a half inch shorter than my right... After a complete exam he popped, stretched, and maneuvered my body in ways I never knew possible. By the end of my session my range of motion in my neck and shoulders had drastically improved! He was also able to loosen muscles in my lower back resulting in even legs! Woohoo! Before I pranced out of my session he demonstrated various stretches I could do daily to improve my situation. That night when I got home I did my stretches as instructed and, for the first time in a few months, slept like a new born baby after a healthy feeding! I feel great, fabulous, like I could mold my body into a human pretzel! I would recommend Dr. Chuck Affatato and Mission Bay Chiropractic to anyone having back pains! I am so happy that I found Mission Bay Chiropractic. Dr. Chuck Affatato has helped me greatly with a medial ligament injury on my left knee and plantar faciitis in my right foot. When I went to him I was in so much pain that I thought I was going to have to have surgery. I started seeing Dr. Chuck at the end of Dec. 2009 when I woke up one morning unable to move my neck without excruciating pain. I spent two days staying home from work and laying on the floor before I decided my pain was not going away on its own. I was able to see Dr. Chuck the same morning I called. He spent over an hour evaluating and treating my pain, and I left that day with more mobility and less pain. I went back every day for the rest of the week, and by the end of that week I was feeling considerably better. I continued seeing Dr. Chuck for the next couple months treating an old car accident injury, and I now feel so much better and have strengthened my neck/back muscles greatly due to his treatment and take home exercises. I am so grateful for the time Dr. Chuck took to evaluate my specific needs over the months I saw him. I have been to Chiropractors in years past (for car accidents and sport injuries), and I felt the treatment I received from them was very generic and impersonal, and they only helped temporarily if at all. I have never had a Chiropractor track my progress as intricately as Dr. Chuck has or spend as much time explaining why I feel the way I do and how to counteract the pain as he has.
