Their website clearly states they service the Chicago area. This type of statement is discriminatory, offensive, and unprofessional. I called for inspection and remedy of a possible animal problem somewhere in my crawlspace area and…read moreI ended the appointment with an estimate that rivals that of a home remodel! Lowest quote $5k+ up to $22k and some depending on how much we wanted to do. I paid less than that to replace my whole roof/gutters a year ago! The upselling with huge markeup on work that isn't their field (insulation, moisture remediation, roofing) is out of this world. They also greatly exaggerate the issue making you feel like you have no choice but get it done (thanks Chat GPT for pointing the discrepancies in their "report") They propose payment plans lasting as long as car loans (60 months) with an interest rate of a credit card (vs the 2- 5% you get for a new car loan these days with excellent credit) that would rival the monthly payment of a 30 year home mortgage! If i want someone to advise me about insulation I ll call an insulation professional, the same ones the Orkin sales guy tried to convince us they did a bad job and were lazy to not place insulation in a specific area (that the professionals advised against as it could have resulted in frozen pipes), and If I need moisture remedy in my crawlspace I ll call a professional for that as well. I ended up calling a local company and they solved our issue for a low 3 digits amount. Also it turns out that my attic is fine, my insulation is good as new (we got some added in 2022) and my crawlspace isn't ripe with mold either though there is a small area where it is recommended we replace it. The so called point of entry in our roof area were non existent, turns out our roofers had installed flashing already.

Each time I requested service, they got me on their schedule quickly, came in and did a thorough inspection, suggested a treatment plan, and worked quickly and efficiently. We brought an outdoor plant indoors to prevent it from freezing. Unfortunately, the fungus gnats also made their way into our home via the outdoor plant. Jessica, from Schopen, kept trying to reach me and I was missing her call due to meetings. When I finally got a break in the day to call her, I explained what our issue was and she knew right away what we were experiencing. She also had a recommendation that didn't require a visit. I was already nervous about any chemical solution to the problem because I have small children and a dog. I was very much interested in a "natural" solution. Minutes after the call, Jessica sent something to my inbox. I really appreciate her integrity and diligence. Three of the other companies we contacted wanted to charge us $200 to come out. They couldn't confirm safety of the solution nor could they guarantee effectiveness. Seemed like they just wanted to collect a check. Schopen was the complete opposite and wanted to provide the right solution. I've added them to my contacts and will definitely be referring them to friends and family.
