Yes, we all have to be realistic with what our hair outcome will be regardless of what inspo pics we bring in, because this is all a science with all the color formulas, what's in your hair to begin with, how easy or uneasy the lifting process is, how strong or resistant your hair is, and whatnot. Modern Beige gives their absolute best to each and every customer with kind, welcoming, accommodating customer service every single time with fun beverage & snack options. Cannot praise Frances + Modern Beige Salon enough and refer everyone here whenever they ask me where I get my hair done! I made an appointment for a long blowout with Michelle. Before I even booked online, I called to…read moremake sure the style I wanted, a bouncy blowout, would be possible with my hair. The receptionist assured me it would be. I arrived on time for my appointment, but Michelle was still with another client and asked me to wait because she was running behind. I said that was completely fine and ended up waiting 23 minutes. After washing my hair, she started blow drying it and rough dried it until it was almost completely dry. My hair was already getting frizzy, so I reminded her again that I wanted the bouncy blowout I booked and was paying for. She told me she did not have time because she was rushing and that she could not do what I had asked for. At that point I was really frustrated. I was paying for a specific service and expected to actually receive it. When I told her I was upset, she looked at me and said, "Do you know how much a blowout for your hair would cost?" That comment was honestly so unprofessional. I told her it was not about the money. It was about the fact that I booked a service, confirmed ahead of time that it could be done, waited almost half an hour because she was behind, and then was told she did not have time to do what I had paid for. What makes it even more frustrating is that the entire appointment still took about an hour, which is a completely normal amount of time for a long blowout. My hair is thick, but it is not curly and not difficult to style. If she knew she was running behind or did not have enough time to do the service properly, that should have been communicated before starting, or I should have been given the option to reschedule. Instead, I received a rushed service and was charged the full $70. She barely went over my hair with a round brush, and the final result looked like it had just been rough dried instead of being an actual blowout. I left feeling like my time did not matter and that I paid $70 for something I did not even receive. I am extremely disappointed with both the service and the way I was treated, and I will not be returning.

Hair is an investment that I will never regret with Annie Trang!…read more I moved to Florida 4 years ago and I fly to California just to get my hair done by Annie. She's the hair queen so I travel for her because she is worth every penny and minute spent. She is the best investment I've made for myself. I learn a lot from her as she is very wise and understands my hair health and history. I never have "hair salon anxiety" with Annie because I trust her so much and know my hair will always turn out perfect in her hands. I'm always excited to visit her because I enjoy spending time with her as she is a good person inside and out. In addition to her lovely work, she is a lovely person and has a big heart. I always get compliments on my hair and so I always get a chance to talk about her to the people in my life. What people respond with is "I see why you would fly 8 hours for her." Her work is unmatched!!

Still loving Annie as much or even more then when I first started going to her…read more Post covid times has been very nice to have only her working on my hair without an assistant. She's like me, a perfectionist that cares about every single little detail, so if you're anything like me, I like my hair to be a specific way and she always hits the mark. If i get nervous during the appointment about it not looking the way I want it, she's always open to listening, reassuring me, fixing anything that might be off, or being honest and letting me know why my visions may be unrealistic in just one sitting. She's truly an artist and born to do what she does. I trust her judgment and always leave her appointments feeling more confident with not just my hair but my life struggles we talk about throughout my appointment hehe. She's a very busy person so please remember to book your appointments well in advance and be patient as you should with any service person but know that she really cares about her clients and will fit you in and accommodate any changes that you might need within reason. I've been going to her for more than five years now and her prices are reasonable for the industry of beauty :,) you get what you pay for and you pay for quality here. Just be detailed and specific about what you want, what you dislike, and understand and ask questions nicely if you have any concerns. Fair warning, if you want a hair stylist that doesn't talk to you or you need to get somewhere after your appointment, she does run late and does care about relationships with her clients and likes to chat. I'm someone who expects to spend the full day at the salon since my hair is thick and it takes about 6-7 hours to get this type of work done. I go in every 6 months and will bring work with me or something to kill time when I'm waiting around for processing and if she happens to run late. She's very clean and the studio is well lit and has nice aesthetics. Happy to say I won't be needing a new hair stylist soon. Although I do have to drive extra to her after moving, I like her work, her personality, her attention to the questions and concerns I have.

Because of her skill and care, I try to get an appointment with her when I visit OC, even though I live in NorCal. So far, very worth it! I think what makes it the most worth it are the little details in her service. She taught me how to style certain parts of my hair using the blow dryer, which I asked about because I liked the way it looked on a kdrama actress, LOL. Now I do it everyday and love it! She also provides great product recommendations. Lena's salon is petite and cute, but it feels spacious enough since she usually has one customer at a time. Lena has a gentle and sweet approach to hair, making recommendations without feeling like they're being forced on you. I really appreciate that. She has done a great job dying my mom's hair, which seems to be her speciality, but I've also really loved having my hair cut by her. The products she uses smell very good. I believe she is able to speak in Korean, Spanish, and English. Highly recommend her services!
