I have seen Lena twice so far, after being referred to her by my mom. The first visit, I got a haircut, and the most recent visit, I got a keratin smoothing treatment. Because of her skill and care, I try to get an appointment with her when I visit OC, even though I live in NorCal. So far, very worth it! I think what makes it the most worth it are the little details in her service. She taught me how to style certain parts of my hair using the blow dryer, which I asked about because I liked the way it looked on a kdrama actress, LOL. Now I do it everyday and love it! She also provides great product recommendations. Lena's salon is petite and cute, but it feels spacious enough since she usually has one customer at a time. Lena has a gentle and sweet approach to hair, making recommendations without feeling like they're being forced on you. I really appreciate that. I've been wanting to try something different for my hair since being dark haired for several years. I lost touch with my old stylist so started my search for my new stylist. I found Lena on Yelp and Instagram and just fell in love with her work. I wanted someone who knew Asian hair but can also cut hair well. I asked for bangs from another hair stylist and she told me no- wtf. Another cut it all stringy, and it took a while to grow them back. I was having bad luck finding the right stylist until I found Lena. Lena is located in the Sola Salon building, and her place is clean and cute. Lena offered me coffee and snacks (I ate everything lol) while waiting for the color to develop. I showed her a picture of her own work, and described what I wanted my hair to look like, keep it long, some bangs but face framing and she knocked it out of the park!! I never seen a stylist curl my hair so fast, I wish I had that timing to curl my hair everyday for work. I saw myself in the mirror, and I was like, who is that? She made me feel so pretty and the color is just beautiful- I've been getting compliments from everyone. The only thing that caught me off guard, a haircut is usually included in coloring services by every other stylist I have been to but Lena doesn't include it- so I wasn't used to that. You have to pay for it separately at $75. So be aware when you're booking a service and don't get shocked like I was at the end. I was too happy with my end hair color but it did catch me by surprise. She gives excellent haircuts though- I didn't tell her much and she cut it in a very flattering way just the way I envisioned it. Lena is a super sweet person and she can really do hair- very talented. Lena is a blonde specialist. I had virgin hair and it took about 4 hours for the whole process of bleaching my hair and toning it plus haircut and style. I went from a tired, overworked gov't employee to refreshed warm beige/milk tea goddess. Lena's studio is located in the Sola Salon building with a giant parking lot. I didn't know this before going but Sola Salon is a shared space salon where each designer and stylist has their own individual studio space. It's got great air conditioning, ventilation and extremely clean bathrooms that are password protected. Lena's space is clean and cute. I was very impressed by the location. Parking is free and ample. I found Lena on instagram and loved the way she did the balayage on many of her clients. I have never gotten a balayage before and am always extremely nervous with getting my hair done in the states. I lost a lot of hair a while ago due to stress and am very self conscious about it. I have been to many popular hair salons in ktown and many have made me feel really shitty about my hair loss. Until now, I've always walked away feeling patronized and not in love with the final result. Booking Lena was straightforward and easy to navigate on her website. I went for the first time to get my hair colored. I wasn't sure about doing a balayage but after consulting with her I finally took the plunge. I have never bleached my hair and am very obviously nervous but Lena was very kind and very easy to talk to. She made sure to listen to my preferences but also gave me her honest opinions on what she thinks would look best on me. Lena is extremely conscious and efficient with her time. While my hair was being bleached, she gave me snacks and also gave another male customer a haircut, wash and styling. When Lena was done with him, it was right back to my hair. I really loved the smell of the hair mask that she used and how soft it made my hair felt that I ended up buying one from her. I didn't know that a haircut was a separate service and not included in the balayage, but upon seeing the state of my hair, Lena was able to also fit in a quick trim at the end for me! The entire process took about 4 hours. I went in with pudding hair (half newly grown black virgin hair on the top and half faded brown dye from over a year ago on the bottom) but walked out with fresh milk tea hair TuT She also gave me tips on how to care for my hair at the end of the session as well. I went to Lena for the second time to get my makeup done. All I can say I she is a PRO. I am absolutely terrible at makeup and was so stressed out thinking about getting my makeup done for a friend's wedding when Lena offered that she can do it for me. The day of, she made me feel so pretty!!! Needless to say I am so impressed at the results both times and also at how quickly and acute she is with her work. Lena works fast with extreme focus. I have never seen someone curl hair so fast lol, I wish I'm able to do that everyday for myself! I am so glad the instagram algorithm lead me to Lena. I'm really relieved that Lena just knew what I wanted even though I didn't have any picture references and I listed a bunch of ideas that I'm sure sounded incoherent. She's thorough, detailed, and very pleasant and easy to speak with. I know it can be hard to speak up sometimes if you feel like the process is not going the way you want, but you still want to "trust the process" but by the end you're like ...wtf. Not here! I didn't feel intimated or uncomfortable trusting her or communicating what I wanted. An additional plus is I felt that she was really sincere about wanting to give me the style that I wanted and not like I'm just another time slot in her day. I really really recommend setting an appointment with Lena! I've not been able to settle with one hair stylist for the past few years, always going to a new stylist because I'm never fully satisfied with the results. But honestly I'm going to keep coming to Lena now. *I know some visitors pointed out the "hidden fees" at the end of the service. I want to say from my experience, I also had an extra charge for my extra long hair, BUT I knew about it when I was doing the online booking. Since the price for the extra service can vary, the final price is determined upon you contacting her. The online booking literally tells you to contact her. Lena was upfront about the extra charge and told me what it would be in the first few minutes we were doing the consult. I'm not trying to take away from anyone's experience especially when it comes to paying 100s of dollars for hair that you weren't planning on spending, for sure I'd be pissed too. But also it's not fair to imply she's using some sort of scam tactic as a practice. Again, the extra charge is visible in the online booking process. It literally tells you to text her for accurate information on what the extra charge will be. AND she double checked thay I accept the extra charges before she started working on my hair. Recommend asking about the final charge when you make your online booking and at the start of the consult just to be on the safe side. read more

I need a feathered cut on the sides of my head & point cut on the crown to cover my thinning hair. I want to avoid splitting or parting of my hair. My hair should be layered all over. I wear a medium length with the ends turned in or under towards my neck. Most every salon tells me they know what I'm talking about but my hair does NOT turn out feathered on the sides. One woman used to cut my style perfectly. My last haircut with Nancy was in February 2019 when she grabbed my hair on the top of my head & chopped it off leaving me with an old Bubble style cut on the top of my head. I chose this salon for having amazing reviews and was amazed with everyone's results. I recently had my hair done by Lena and will say she is nice and kind but very unprofessional and unfair when it came time to pay. Us clients book appointments online and select what service we want with a quote included. If you're going to charge extra or have hidden fees it only makes sense to include that when we book our appointment so we know what we're paying upfront instead of being caught off guard without having time to react. Lena uses this tactic and takes advantage of hard working people who come in with what they're quoted online and ends up leaving paying $100+ more. I'm writing this review to warn people who are considering this salon and want to book thinking they're getting a good deal let me tell you it's actually going to cost you more than that. I booked a service (bleach and tone) that said $400 I left paying $740. $300 alone for having long hair and an extra $40 for hair products ladies if you have long hair stay away from this place. Sure I think my hair is nice but it's definitely not worth $740 I confronted Lena and she said she thought this was fair and other salons would've charged me $1000+. Lena never once discussed the extra hidden fees during my appointment preventing me from changing my mind and leaving. I could've dodged $340 but I'm left with a debt that I will have to work hard paying off while she continues to use this tactic on clients who she thinks has money and the reason I say this is because she told me "clients usually know" well I'm not a usual client and definitely not a client with $1000 ready in my pockets to waste on my hair. read more

Lena is my go-to girl for hair and she is very talented! This is my second time coming to Lena and let me just say she made me fall in love with my hair again! I was nervous at first when she told me "let's do a silver" considering it was my first time with this color and she reassured me I can pull it off.
