She has been doing my hair for 4 years and was the first person to touch my virgin hair since my teenage years. Incredibly patient, always wonderful, never needed more than a description to know exactly what I wanted. One thing to know going in is that Ashley keeps it real with you. Once you understand that, you realize it is actually one of her best qualities because it means she is completely focused on your hair. I moved and tried to save the drive. My hair paid for that. I rolled the dice on a local salon and asked for a soft natural look on my dark hair. They bleached 80% of my head. Went back to fix it. Came out looking like a tiger. Orange, blonde, dark brown, black, all at once. Went back a third time. Left fully orange. My hair was nearly beyond repair. I reached out to Ashley. She had me come in for a consultation on a Wednesday, saw the damage in person, saw my inspiration picture, and was shocked. We booked that same Friday. She blow dried between every round to check the tone. Never rushed once. Fed me her favorite Korean snacks and got me completely hooked. By the end of that night she nailed it. Ashley has brought my dead and damaged hair back to life after 2 years of slowly working on it! I had damaged hair after getting it bleached, so she cut away dead ends whenever I came to see her, gave me a couple keratin treatments to keep it looking healthier, and finally gave me a magic perm when it was healthy enough. I have nothing but positive things to say about my new hair stylist, Ashley!!! I started out with brassy, overly highlighted, frizzy, mop of hair after spending $$$ on balayage at a different salon. I had given up on styling or trying to salvage the damage done to my hair that I was thinking of just cutting it off. After hearing from a good friend that Ashley is the only stylist who doesn't damage her hair from highlights and the only person who gives her the exact style that she wants, I decided to see for myself. During the consultation Ashley was able to pinpoint the difficulties I have with my hair type and diagnosed the problems with my current hair color and style. It was as if she took the words right out of my mouth! She just KNEW right away what the problem was AND how to FIX IT!!! She suggested a couple ways to correct the orange tone and make my existing highlights appear more natural-- which is the look I was going for in the first place. So I ended up with natural looking ash brown after her skillful color, treatment, and cut. Let me tell you another thing--her shampooing chair is beyond comfortable, and relaxing to the point that I actually dozed off during the treatment process! I have been contemplating a while about leaving this review, but I want to make sure new clients know what to expect when coming to Ashley's hair studio. Pro's: Ashley will put in the work to get your hair as close as possible to what you are looking for color wise. If you look at the photos, it's pretty close if not right on color wise. Con's: These were all unexpected. The first con was that what I expected to be a 2-3 hour appointment turned into a 6 hour appointment. I understand needing some time to get my hair to what it is now, but I would have appreciated a heads up before getting started because I had work that day. I also often felt forgotten due to many other clients coming in at the same time. Another Con was I didn't really know what was going on. My hair got double bleached and I was so nervous for the health of my hair. My hair after the first wash is quite brittle and I'm scared to brush it. Con number three is that not all of my requests were taken into account. When we started, I asked for some blending near my roots, instead the color runs all the way up to my scalp and I will be forced to go in for touch ups sooner rather than later. When it was time for my hair to be cut, I had asked for a trim because Ashley insisted I needed one, which she was probably right. However, without asking she angled my bangs and this was unfortunate because I have been trying to grow them to match the length of the rest of my hair. An additional con was that even though I was a customer, I felt I was an inconvenience. Most of the conversation was in Korean and I was only spoken to a few times about my hair. The final and most important con was that once all was done, Ashley revealed the price to me. For my color (not even a balayage) and cut, it was $650. I was absolutely shocked since I have done this exact thing to my hair before multiple times and so I never expect to pay more than $300. There wasn't anything at the salon to indicate how pricey it would be. I was offered a kurig coffee in a paper cup, surely it can't be that expensive is what I thought. I proceeded to pay and then went to my car and cried because I had just spent 6 hours here, missed work, and paid 3 times the amount I had expected which was a total financial strain for me for probably what was my least favorite hair experience so far. I appreciate the work Ashley put in for my hair and she was friendly when she spoke to me, but I will not be returning and will go crying back to my previous stylist. read more
