quaint and bright breakfast spot near raystown lake...been here a few times and the food is good, friendly service...large patio out back there is an attached shop featuring locally made foods as well as eclectic gifts.

My "Build-Your-Own" omelette with sausage, American cheese, and spinach wth a side of bacon and wheat toast.

I stopped in here with my boyfriend while on our way to Gettysburg. It was still relatively early in the morning and we both had a hankering for breakfast. After a couple quick Google searches, we decided to stop here. As soon as we entered we were greeted and welcomed. We sat at a nearby table and we were soon after given menus. For drinks I got water and my boyfriend got coffee. He raved about how good the coffee here was. Now, I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so you'll just have to take his word for it. For my meal I ordered the "Build-Your-Own" omelette with sausage, American cheese, and spinach with a side of bacon and wheat toast. I'm typically not a huge omelette eater, but it just sounded yummy. I'm going to note that the omelette is a 3 egg omelette. Upon ordering, I was surprised at how many choices of toast they have: white, wheat, rye, pumpernickel.. just to name what i can remember. While we waited for our food to arrive, my boyfriend and I admired the overall vibe and decor of the restaurant. It's very 1960's - flowers, bright bold colors, nature-esque. Very different and very charming. After about twenty minutes, our food arrived. I was glad I was hungry, because portions here are BIG. Like I said, my omelette consisted of three eggs, and it was stuffed with chopped spinach, big pieces of sausage, and cheese. It was so yummy. It really hit the spot. Overall, i have absolutely no complaints here! The employees were very friendly and welcoming. If I'm ever back in Huntingdon, I'll be sure to stop back in!

Breakfast sampler, was the best cafe food I have had yet ! Friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, great food and coffee!

The focus of this review is on the butcher shop, which is a high-quality operation that is not found in most major chain stores. The butcher area offers a good selection of hand cut meats, homemade sausages, and everything else one would expect from a professional butcher! Don't expect mass produced and packaged meats here because their fresh cut meats and poultry are amazing! The main reason we drove out of our way to stop by Wilson's was for their homemade hotdogs! While eating at Shy Bear Brewing recently we loved the gourmet hotdogs they were serving. These hotdogs were plump, flavorful, and had that snap when biting that most mass-produced hotdogs do not have. When asked we were told that Wilson's Meats makes all their hotdogs for them! These hotdogs were the best I've ever eaten and we knew we MUST have these for our 4th of July picnic! If you want high quality meats and some of the best hotdogs around, stop by Wilson's Meats. Be sure to grab a few whoopie pies while you are there!

I refuse to buy hamburger from the corporate "giants" after shopping at Wilson's. You may pay more, but it is well worth it. Also, there is more to Wilson's than the butcher shop/deli counter. There is also the cheap candy box. In it, you will find all sorts of classic varieties of old school treats at a the prices you might have had as a kid. There are local treats such a whoopie pies and Asher's Peanut Butter eggs when in season. They carry local PA Dutch favorites such as homemade chicken corn soup. They also carry a great selection of local spices and salad dressings. The Wilson's own and operate this store themselves. In fact, you will see Steve back behind the deli counter quite regularly. Stop in, have a treat, and enjoy.

A quick search later and I realized it was only 20 minutes from home. I immediately grabbed a friend and requested a dinner date for the item that caught my eye: the Bratwurst mit Kraut -- bratwurst cooked with apples and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun and topped with even more kraut, with a side of German potato salad ($12). But I'll admit... I was also eyeing their Obatzda Burger with Oktoberfest beer cheese. Feeling bold, I asked our waitress if I could order their regular Pretzel Braid appetizer ($9) but swap the usual cheez-wiz and spicy mustard for that dreamy Oktoberfest beer cheese instead. She paused, smiled, wrote it down, and said, "that sounds really good!" Bless the chef for making my pretzel + beer cheese fantasy come true. The pretzel braid was warm, soft, and perfectly salty, and that beer cheese was the real MVP -- smooth, melty, not too hot, and with a proper beer-cheese finish. When the bratwurst plate arrived, it was a showstopper. Juicy brat, tangy kraut piled high, and tucked inside a pretzel roll that was soft but sturdy enough to hold it all together. No mustard needed! The German potato salad surprised me, though -- I'm used to the warm version, so finding it chilled caught me off guard. But honestly? It worked. Perfectly seasoned, just wet enough to be salad without drifting into soupy territory. I demolished both. Dessert was impossible to skip after hearing our waitress describe it to another table. We shared both the Apple Caramel Crumb Cake and the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Cake. The crumb cake was served warm with ice cream, loaded with thick, crunchy topping that didn't rely on chopped nuts (bonus points!). The mascarpone cake was light and buttery with the perfect balance of lemon and blueberry -- like saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one dessert sitting. Southside Deli's Oktoberfest menu blew me away, and if their everyday offerings are anywhere close, I've been seriously missing out. Add in free parking, a convenient location, and plenty of seating, and it's an easy go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Southside is officially on my food rotation radar now!
