Normally, this would be a five-star review, but I did have a slight issue prior to arrival…read more I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member for over 30 years, and when given a choice, I always try to stay at a Marriott. As a Lifetime Platinum Elite member, certain benefits are part of that loyalty. I had two reservations for this stay: the first portion was booked under my name, and the remaining nights (which together totaled seven nights) were accidentally booked under my husband's name and his Bonvoy number. In the past, I've never had an issue having reservations like this paired together. I even called Marriott in advance and was told not to worry, that the hotel would merge the reservations upon arrival and that my Platinum benefits would apply for the entire stay. The flight was delayed into Vienna, I contacted the hotel through my reservation to notify them. At the same time, I again requested that the two reservations be merged and asked whether my Platinum benefits would override my husband's so we could have lounge access for the duration of our stay. Ronja responded and clearly stated that this would not happen and that my Platinum benefits would not be honored for the second half of the stay. After going back and forth and realizing I wasn't getting anywhere, I decided to address it when we got to the hotel. When we arrived at 1:00 a.m., Michael was at the front desk, and he was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. He resolved the situation immediately and without hesitation. Ronja's LinkedIn lists her title as "Hotel & Hospitality Specialist," but based on this interaction, additional training may be beneficial. As a lifelong Platinum Elite member, I certainly did not feel like a valued guest. Aside from that experience, the hotel itself was absolutely perfect. Our room was lovely, located on a high floor with a beautiful view overlooking the park. The hotel has so much to offer, and the Concierge Lounge was one of the best I've ever experienced. It was open daily from 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.--which is impressive in itself. Breakfast was served every morning with a great selection of both hot and cold options, and the coffee machine offered an excellent variety of choices. There was also a daily happy hour from 5:00 p.m. until closing, with beer, wine, and a consistent selection of food and snacks. The lounge staff truly went above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. The views from the lounge were magnificent making it a nice place to relax after a long day. This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic part of the city. It's within walking distance of major sights and excellent restaurants. If you're visiting Vienna, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Solid hotel with a solid breakfast buffet…read more We stayed here for 5 nights. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Each morning, we had breakfast at the hotel which included hot items like scrambled eggs, bacon (which was different from American bacon), mushrooms, potatoes, roasted tomatoes, waffles, and pancakes. The buffet also had a fruit bar, deli section, breads, sweet pastries, yogurts, cereals, salad, and a made to order omelette station. Beverages included coffees, teas, juices, and even prosecco. The food was the same every day, but there was enough selection that we could switch it up throughout the week. Would stay here again in the future.

Plus the proximity to the Uban made this a great property. I do have to mention that the food at this location was outstanding. Taking a recommendation from the staff, I ended up ordering a burger. To my surprise, this burger was out of this world delicious (even though they didn't have my ranch dressing --- i know it's an American thing). :) The breakfast buffet was also extensive offering any/all options. Service was great with check-in and check-out being a breeze. If you are looking to stay in Vienna on a budget, this location offers a lot.

Very disappointed…read more The tub is very slick but when I asked for a safety mat or rubber bath mat they said they didn't have one. The step down from the tub to the floor is quite steep but there is no safety handle or anything to hold on to. Seems very dangerous. There are no ice machines, even though there are places for them. You have to go all the way down to the bar to get ice. No electric outlets on one side of the bed. There are those awful card slots by the door for the electricity so when you come back to your room, the AC has been off for hours and it's hot and it takes hours to cool down again. While I was there, several youth sports teams checked in. Good for business. Full bookings. But no additional provisions were made for the breakfast buffet. The young people were like swarms of locust. Of course. Long lines and empty food containers. Really ridiculous. Generally not what I was expecting from Marriott.

The gym area includes a sauna and relaxation room (Does have old equipment and limited space). The lounge is spacious and comfortable, with a good selection of beer, liquor, and Coca-Cola products. It is in a great location to many metro lines. Cons: The bed was unacceptable. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, and the mattress was so hard it felt like sleeping on concrete. This was, without question, the worst bed we have ever experienced at a Hilton property. The hotel may claim it meets Hilton International standards, but if this mattress qualifies, those standards are extremely low. Despite being two Diamond members celebrating an anniversary and a birthday, there was zero recognition of our loyalty. No card, no note, no acknowledgment of any kind (They were made aware multiple times). This lack of basic personalization was disappointing. Breakfast was mediocre and nowhere near the quality offered at other Hilton properties. There was no made-to-order option, and if one existed, it was never mentioned. The lounge food was very poor and not something we would eat again. Communication was also lacking. The hotel only asked how our stay was at checkout, as we were walking out the door, rather than during the stay when issues could have been addressed. While mechanical issues in the room were eventually fixed, they should not have occurred in the first place. Overall: This hotel looks elegant, but the experience does not match the appearance. The service, comfort, and attention to loyal guests fall well short of expectations. A good-looking property means nothing when the bed is rock-hard and the guest experience is an afterthought. We left extremely disappointed.

Even without decorations, the Art Deco style is so sleek and sexy...right up my architectural alley. Front desk staff was outstanding. Very service oriented. My room was really comfortable and had a great desk for working, extremely comfortable bed and an outstanding shower. There was a coffee maker but I was staying on the exec floor so I went down to the executive lounge for coffee in the morning. The lounge itself was nice with lots of options for drinks and a decent variety of carbs and other foods in the morning. The gym was a little small but very clean. The location was pretty good, close to the Metro/U-Bahn. The Schottentor stop on the U2 line is right outside the hotel. There are lots of trams and buses nearby too. It was very easy to get to the airport from here taking the U-bahn a couple of stops to a train station with a direct connection to the airport. If you don't have giant bags, it's a very easy trip and much cheaper than a cab. Think 8 Euro vs 65 Euro. The on-site restaurant has good cocktails. Service is another matter but I'll cover that in a separate review. I'm a big Hilton Honors guy and this is one of my favorite Hiltons.

A wonderful hotel in a wonderful location!…read more Located directly across from St. Stephens, this contemporary boutique hotel is in the perfect location to see all that Vienna has to offer within a short walk. Or the subway entrance is right out front so you can venture as far as you want! The rooms are well furnished for a European hotel- large towels (even washcloths which are not common in Europe) nice toiletries, and coffee in the room. We upgraded to a suite on the top floor and had our own personal balcony with a table, chair and umbrella to sit outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Plaza. The included breakfast in the morning was one of the best we had on our trip! Pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, meats, cheeses, etc- whatever you wanted - it was there. And they have a couple of guys making your favorite coffee drinks as well so I could have sat in the breakfast room all day. And the staff was super accommodating- they ordered us a taxi on our last day and because they did it (or maybe it was the time of day) they were able to pick us up out front versus us having to walk from the pedestrian plaza that this is located on. Know before you go that if you are driving- I'm not sure exactly how close you can get before you have to park your car although there is a parking garage on the nearby side street. Why not 5 stars you ask? The bed just wasn't as comfortable as it could be. It was hard and just wasn't what I was expecting given everything else was so great! But if you like a really hard beds- this could be your place. That aside- we had a great visit and would return the next time we are in Vienna!

River front? Its a huge area. Got the usual fixing plus make your own juice, eggs to order, honey served in a natural honeycomb state. Lots of tea options. Perfect spot to stay in Vienna!…read more First of all, I want to highlight how wonderful and accommodating Ulla Spiess is! I may have been a bit of a difficult visitor after I wanted to swtich rooms. Ulla was accommodating and wonderful about everything. She's also quite nice and really friendly. I visited this spot recently and it really is a super spot to stay in Vienna. It is approximately 3 stops from the "center" of town (depending on what you consider the center) and it's really easy to navigate the trains. The location that the B&B is in is really quaint and there are local restaurants nearby as well, so you don't have to travel to the more touristy area. Ulla had a great restaurant recommendation for my first night there (delicious and inexpensive!). I stayed four nights and had a great time. I was in two rooms while I was there (my fault that I moved). Both rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. The breakfast area is really charming and there is an area that has glass windows where you can feel like you are eating in the garden. The food is really great and fresh. Cheeses, meats, cereals, juices, pastries...I could go on and on. The made to order scrambled eggs are great, too! Coffee is delicious! Everyone is really helpful and they really make you feel like you are staying in their home. The B&B is expanding - I'm not sure when everything will be open, but there may be more room options soon. Thanks to Hotel Pension Spiess & Spiess Appartements for a great visit! I hope to be back!

Everything was spotless -- especially the bathroom and the bed -- which always matters most to me. Breakfast was a standout. The buffet was fantastic -- freshly cooked eggs to order, great pastries, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. One of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The staff was warm and professional throughout our stay, and we loved stopping by the You Bar for drinks and light bites in the evenings -- perfect when you're tired or jet-lagged and don't want a full restaurant experience. The location is excellent, with most major sights just a 15-20 minute walk away. There were a few downsides. The room ran very hot in winter, which made sleeping difficult, and we had noticeable noise from a neighboring suite with children -- we could clearly hear laughing and shouting through the connecting door. The hotel did call the room after we complained, but the noise didn't stop. Luckily, the connecting door was on the sitting-room side of our suite and not the bedroom. Vienna is an expensive city, but we booked using a government/military rate and felt it was very good value given the spacious accommodations, cleanliness, service, and prime location.
