Stayed here during my visit to Vienna, Austria or Wien as the locals call it. I'll be honest, when I got off of the subway and walked up to the street level, I had no idea where my hotel was. So I was walking around for a good 15 minutes before I decided to look up the address.
Once I found the building, I noticed that it was an older building and the door was locked. Luckily, there was a speaker that you can press a button and say like 'I'm checking in' and the receptionist will buzz you in.
Inside, there is 1 elevator (made in the 80s I think) that can take you up to the receptionist desk. Once checked in, you get an old school key (instead of a keycard) and you have to ask for another key for the safe inside the room.
FYI, there is no AC in the room, just a fan (because the rooms are older) but you can open the window which for my room faces a courtyard.
The breakfast is basic. The lady will ask you Coffee or Tea and then ask for your Zimmernummer which is room number. I recommend learning to say your room number in German and impress them! Mine was dreißig or 30. Simple enough. The actual breakfast is a buffet with cold cuts and delicious fresh baked bread/rolls. Out of all the countries that I visited, I loved the bread from Austria the most. Das Brot!
The location is excellent! It is location in Stephansplatz which means you're right next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. It is also around a 10 minute walk to the Hofburg Palace. There is a u-bahn station which is the underground subway really close so you can take it to go to other sites like Schönbrunn Palace.
Anyway, I definitely recommend this place. read more
