They are likely selling resealed pokémon booster packs. We picked up some packs today that we later questioned while looking at them. My son is kind of new to the pokémon game so we decided to take pictures and opened the packs anyway. We emailed those pictures to another reputable card shop owner who said the packs should never be opened at all. You can see in the pictures they're open at the top in some corners. This is just a few of the packs that we picked up. So keep an eye out if you go there to get pokémon cards because if the booster packs are being resealed it's likely most of the other Pokemon product is as well. I was also told that it's really the shops prerogative if they wish to sell resealed packs. Apparently they pick them up from scalpers. And what would they care anyhow It's all profit. read more

I can appreciate a place like this for accommodations that appeal to those who may be a bit introverted or "nerdy" for lack of a better term no disrespect for anyone who plays D&D, magic or enjoys an action full day of larping! If I were into those sort of things To me I felt like I was going to run into Raj, Howard, Lenard and Sheldon down there. So with all due respect the 2 starts may be a bit misleading, because I really don't know what goes on here but it looks as though they host a plethora of game nights. With all that said the reason I went in there was I had come into possession of quite a few Pokémon cards and a few I looked up, if real were apparently worth a lot of money so I wanted to get a professional, expert opinion but what I got instead was neither. But I did get some terrible customer service. Honestly it was like a free for all there were a couple other people who I thought were in there for the same reason I was and they were possibly getting ready for a game night of some sort with a bunch of tables set and being filled quickly to the sounds of shuffling cards. Anyway after being completely ignored I decided to move to what anyone with an iq higher than 75 would consider to be another line to another "expert" and as I make this move the guy I was just standing in front of for 15 minutes and is still seemingly helping the same guy he has been for 15 minutes, he looks up at the guy that came in 5 minutes after me and was standing behind me, he calls him by his first name and says what can I do for ya?? It this point I'm starting to get an eye twitch but I stay calm and 5 more minutes goes by and the kid in front of me decides he can try and help me. So after all that he looks at my cards very thoroughly multiple times saying nothing but making odd noises none the less. I was pretty frustrated at this point and I say " so what do you think???!!" And he responds with " I don't know?" Dumb founded I responded with " you don't know?? What do you mean,? You don't know what they worth or what? And he says yea I'm not a big Pokémon guy I'm more like magic kinda guy...... I about to rage when this kid calls for the resident Pokémon collector I have no idea who works here as everyone in this place is dressed like Sheldon cooper. I could go on but long story short, 4 experts and an hour later as the magic tournament was about to begin. The consensus was nobody knew if they were real or not and I was told the only way to know if they're real is to cut the card I half!! Which obviously renders the card worthless !! An hour I'll never get back and I might have become a bit stupider in the process. So if your in your late twenties, still a virgin and living at home with mom and dad with skin so pale you often are mistaken for a vampire and have zero drive to find a job or girlfriend. A couple of the employees were quite rude and they seem to be kind of pompous. This store claims they get pokemon directly from distribution yet they charge more than scalpers. It's unironically more cost efficient to buy from a scumbag on Facebook marketplace. Also, there needs a sign that requires players in the shop to wear deodorant/shower beforehand somewhere. Every time I've walked in here while people are playing games at the tables it has smelled like roadkill. To be expected from tcg players but if you want the store to be more inviting, maybe consider setting up some ground rules to make it not smell like shit! read more

What a great store. We were in Salem to visit Willamette U and had about an hour to kill. My kids love games and we were possibly interested in getting a new one. They didn't have the one we wanted, but they have a library of demo games that you can play, and we were welcomed to sit and play for a bit. We had a great time - it was clean, quiet (in the middle of a weekday) and they are great to let people hang out and play for free. My only quibble is the decor is a little dark for my taste - I love the vibe at Modern Games in Bend, but that store charges you to stay and play. We'll definitely plan to come back and support this store next time we're in the area. read more

This review will be short and to the point. This game store is excellent and also the best in the area in my humble opinion. They have pretty much any board game or trading card game you could want, and staff is really helpful and gives good tips and advice. They hold magic and pokemon tournaments here as well. They have game accessories like play mats and sleeves as well. They have snacks and drinks for purchase and a small little game library you can check a game out of and sit down and play. Gotta check this place out if you're in Salem or looking for a game for your next game night! read more

Wild Things is a great game shop. I went with my son to get Pokémon cards and we were really impressed with the selection of singles available. Prices for singles and for sealed were decent. Their assortment of other gaming products and merchandise was huge. The gaming area was also expansive and it seemed like they have a busy schedule of gaming events. Terrible customer service, and regular mfg suggested retail prices. Went there today to get some paints for miniatures and stood in line to make my purchase for 20 minutes, with product in-hand. The cashiers were helping two customers with MtG Cards: looking up prices, going over lists... People behind me finally bailed 10 minutes in but I wanted to support a local business so I stayed and waited. Total waste of my time. The cashier couldn't have said 'please let me help out this other customer real quick and we can go back to your MtG questions.'? Nope. 20 minutes later, I gave up, placed my purchase on the counter and walked out, like the people that were behind me. Wild Things Games has only one positive for me: I can window shop before I go on Amazon and buy the same item faster, cheaper, and with better service. This is an MtG game shop only. These guys and gals rock. I play Dungeons and Dragons here every Sunday. They don't charge for the space (that I know of) but I make it a point to buy something every time I come here to play. Even if it is a only some MTG booster sets. They have a great selection of cards and host lots of game nights. Everyone here is friendly and usually calls me by my name, even though I'm nothing special and come in to play D&D or the occasional MTG draft. And the people that play here are super nice as well. I'm a below average MTG player by I don't get frustrated playing others here. Everyone is nice. And the D&D is up to three full tables now! New people are always popping up and we all welcome them and introduce them to a world of dragons and mimics and bards and dice rolls. read more

First, let me say that I have been in many, many card shops and game rooms over the years. My son started playing MtG around 1996 before he was old enough to drive, so we went everywhere: WOTC in Renton, and later Seattle's U district, and all of the card stores between our house and there. So believe me when I say that I have experienced everything from a warm welcome, to bewilderment, to outright misogyny in gaming circles. I learned to disarm gamers by producing my silly Chaos Orb coin-flipping deck out of a sense of self preservation. As for game stores, this place is awesome. I was treated with respect and courtesy, and when I asked about a card from their website, the clerk fetched it from the vault and answered all my questions. I came in prepared to have my purchase sneered at (who really needs a signed Beta Black Knight, anyway?) but I left happy and feeling good. Ladies: no fear crossing the threshold. You are safe here. By far one of the very best card stores that me and my boyfriend have even visited. We make it a point to visit all the card stores that we come across, so we have been to stores all across Hawaii, California, Oregon, Europe, and we were blown away by this one. The selection of Pokemon and Magic cards are impressive, they have really old series, and the prices were quite reasonable. They have a good selection of older Pokemon merchandise as well. The only problem that we had with coming to this store was that we did not bring enough cash to buy everything! Definitely will be back many times! Parking was a bit tricky to figure out at first, and customer service was not the absolute best, but not terrible either. read more

How do I say this nicely... You guys are liars! You're customer service is so bad that I felt racially discriminated against. To be honest you deserve less than one star for censoring my last review. Had 6 boosters that they said they are buying but when they saw I got them from Walmart suddenly not interested. They treat you like a thief when you try to sell them sealed boosters. The staff will lie to your face about cards on their buylist and then say later they always buy cards on the buylist w/o exception. I came for a Magic pre-release event because I haven't been to one in years. Good turn out for a Saturday pre release. Friendly crowd, friendly staff. Appropriate pricing for event/cards/CCG supplies. Parking availability is the only real downside. They had other games and a few comics but nothing crazy. If I played more paper magic I'd be here more often. Can't comment on selling/trading cards or anything other than it was easy to show up and join the event, and despite bringing very little to the event, other people shared dice/tokens. Worst Customer Service EVER experienced. Pre-Paid for items that were slated to come in within a few days, at about $15 each. First time we called, we were told the items were in, but were all sold (to us), but they couldn't be located - was told we would get a call back before close. Then never called. Next time we called, was told they were there but still could not be located. Third call gets us to the owner - who took our original payment for these items - and he tells us they aren't in and they won't be getting any..oh and now they are over $100 EACH! Pre-purchased a product; in shop, paid and received receipt. Was given four different stories, coincidentally after the price went up. Was told that two of the items were in the shop, but nobody could find them. Then that they were never there; which can't be true because I bought one from the same shop before I pre-purchased three more. Since I was also told they order all of these in Three, it makes sense there would be Two more after I bought One. Somehow all of this changes once the price jumps up. After reading other reviews of similar things happening in regards to online orders, though I was in-store, it's pretty clear what happened here. One employee helping us made it pretty clear they knew this was all bullshit as well. Not that I'm about to say who and get someone fired by this shady business. For what it's worth, I'll be sending this entire incident and the video I recorded today into their distributor's, BBB and anyone else that seems worthwhile. You would think small shops like this would be more interested in keeping customers coming back than making a quick buck by fucking someone over. Can anyone else relate to me when I say that I have never really had a great experience at a card shop because of the customer service? I love playing card games and this was the first time I was bringing my girls to a card shop. I was greeted walking in, and then asked if I needed help finding anything. Explanations were given at the counter about certain products which was helpful. The service was so good I contacted the owner Randy just to make sure he knew how great a job his crew is doing. My visits here are normally very short, but much appreciated. Normally I forget to get a few boosters for a draft between friends, or I lost my d20s for a thousandth time. It is a inviting and clean store, and is organized in a way that makes sense. My interactions with staff are usually very brief, but it's the simplicity within these interactions that make me keep coming back. I don't need to be talked into something I don't need to buy -- myself, like many other nerds, know our product and know what we're there for. I have done a couple trades there from newer sets within MTG, and they seemed to always offered me a fair price on them. One of my favorite interactions was speaking to one of the girl staff members (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) that work there. I was in a hurry between my job and a MTG draft, so I called her up and asked her to gather up everything I needed and to find "Card sleeves with the tackiest/best looking backs you have". She found a winner -- card protectors with Bruce Lee on each one of them. They were later the talk of the night. She made things so easy for me and was such a pleasant interaction. Certainly the staff there isn't as talkative as they might be in other places -- but I like that. They just let me tend to myself. The prices on things are usually reasonably marked. Not always, but reasonably - I would have liked to see some of the D&D books a little cheaper. Until I have a sour interaction, I'll continue to visit every few months -- and I'll be happy doing it! First visit to store. Had a nice selection of board games. I found an item that was marked $29.99 and went up to the counter to purchase it. The lady rang up the purchase at $39.99. I went to sign for the purchase and noticed the mark up. She said because it is listed at $39.99 in the system she had to ring it up that way. I declined the purchase. Between this "stellar" customer service and the body odor from the Pokémon tournament card players, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more
