I've been to the downtown location before and it was a small quaint shop, probably doesn't fit any more than 5 customers in the store. It was quite the opposite to this shop! It was really large inside and they had a high bench top counter for eating. Of course during COVID, that was unfortunately not allowed. This store had a fridge full of their pint sized ice cream flavors. We ordered their sampler which was 4 flavors for $9. A great deal compared to ice cream parlors in San Francisco! We chose their ultimate cookie dough, sitka swirl, lavender honey, and matzah toffee crunch. Out of the flavors we chose, 100% recommend the lavender! Not only was it a gorgeous purple color, the flavors really popped out! So sweet from the honey and the lavender was also very aromatic! Sitka swirl was pretty good with caramel and I am a huge fan of cookies and cream, so had to get the ultimate cookie dough. The matzah toffee crunch had a generous amount of toffee, super tasty. read more

This place has rave reviews and it did not disappoint. I love local hand made foods when traveling, and I love ice cream, so this was a given to try. I had the wild blueberry and rhubarb - both were incredible. My wife had the rhubarb as well. 2 of my daughters had Sitka swirl and the other fruity pebbles. All of us were very happy with our choices. Looks like they rotate flavors and we'll be coming back before our trip is over to try other flavors. read more

Excellent ice cream. The waffle cone was made fresh in the store. Decent selection of flavors, but it was the middle of winter when I stoped in. Will visit again for sure. read more

Wild Scoops - Blueberry and Mango - Desserts Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

While on our honeymoon in Alaska, my sweet tooth craving hit hard! We made our way to Wild Scoops for some tasty post-dinner dessert. Their downtown location was closed so we made our way out to this location. And we made it just in the knick of time, because they were closing down for a few weeks in their off-season. I ordered two scoops in a freshly baked waffle cone - Sitka swirl and chocolate. Sitka swirl was like a salted caramel. For an extra three dollars, on top I had the "baked Alaska" - marshmallow fluff that was toasted to perfection. They offered a variety of unique flavors, some that I wasn't even willing to venture to try - like garlic. But the flavors we did have were absolutely delicious! read more

Great but is the most popular place in Anchorage. Prepare for a l8ne, but worth the wait!

A no doubt 5 star review. If I could give 6 stars I would. I consider myself an ice cream connoisseur, and Wild Scoops did not disappoint. I would come here daily if I wasn't aware of what a daily visit would do to my waistline. So so so so good. read more

The local ice cream shop, which is worth the hype. Their reasonable prices, variety of flavors, and friendly service pulled the crowd even at 15-degree temperatures. If you love ice cream, then it's worth a visit. read more

Absolutely love the Alaskan Blueberry Ice Cream with the Marshmallow Topping! It is the only place I know of that does blueberry ice cream and it is delicious! I am thrilled that the store's sit down area was made larger so more people can sit and enjoy their ice cream together during the cold winter months! read more

Best ice cream in Alaska . They have rhubarb ice cream. They have chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, and also others

This location is one of two in Anchorage, this one being their only brick and mortar store. (The location in downtown is just a window where you order from the street with no place inside to sit). Both locations seem to offer the same flavors. I'm a big fan of the spruce tips and the Sitka swirl, and I cannot resist the warm waffle cone. The staff is friendly. The ambiance is inviting. The ice cream is delicious. Pints to go if you can't get enough, like me. read more

Excellent ice cream! Recommend the baked Alaska waffle cone--yum! Vegan ice cream was delicious as was the Alaska blueberry!

Delicious, Rich, creamy, and perfectly flavored! Would very highly recommend wild scoops! Ordered the sampler with Alaskan roasted beetroot ice cream, Sitka sea salt swirl, AK rhubarb jam crumble, and AK fireweed with honey. Have to admit I was incredibly surprised by the beet root! I loved how perfect the sweetness was with textures of beet root throughout! I know I'll definitely visit the next time I'm back! Ambiance was great. Many seats available, and clean environment. Great service! Would very highly recommend. read more

I'm know I'm in the minority, but I wasn't really a fan. I sampled 3 of their fun flavors (eggnog ginger snap, rubharb almond cookie, chocolate sunbutter) and didn't like any of them and was too embarrassed to get yet another sample so got a safe choice of Sitka Swirl (salted caramel). It was decent, a bit too sweet for my preference - which was surprising since the other samples weren't especially sweet. I love their creative flavor ideas, but they just didn't work for me. I'm also not typically seeking ice cream when it is freezing outside - but we were nearby and I was so curious about the flavors! Hope to try again and maybe just cycle through more samples before deciding. read more

Let me start by saying I LOVE ice cream. I'm always looking to try new and unique flavors and Wild Scoops delivered. I was tempted to get the Baked Alaska cone because that's what they're known for but ended up with the Sampler Flight because I wanted multiple flavors. The workers were patient and let me try a couple flavors. My favorite was rhubarb crumble but sunshine club and Sitka swirl were also very good. Everything was creamy and smooth. So delicious! read more

Wow I am amazed at the creativity of the ice cream flavors here! Coming from California, I've had Salt & Straw, which is my favorite ice cream shop growing up, and I can say Wild Scoops are just as good! I love that this place sources from locals growers and highlights Alaskan's ingredients. There are 2 locations and I went to the one in midtown which I think is not as crowded as the downtown one. If you are visiting Anchorage, you got to try the ice cream at Wild Scoops! Highly recommend getting the Baked Alaska with your ice cream (torched marshmallow swirl on top of ice cream in a house made waffle cone)! read more

I've been coming here for the past 3 years. Every year when I visit Alaska hot or cold I am down for icecream. They have seasonal flavors Summer time: I love blueberry There rhubarb icecream was bomb when I came 2 summers ago. Parking is plenty! It's a lot easier getting icecream here then downtown where you have to pay for parking. We got the flight of icecream which was only $10 not too shabby read more

I absolutely love Wild Scoops and was thrilled when they opened a larger store in a more central location. I love how Wild Scoops works with other local businesses such as Black Cup and Sweet Caribou to create fun Alaska-themed flavors. Great flavor variety, including non-dairy options. I can't pick a favorite because everything I've gotten has been delicious. The employees are very friendly and happy to let you sample any of the flavors. The shop is very clean and has art and photos from local artists on the walls. I highly recommend the Baked Alaska cone, which is your choice of ice cream in a homemade waffle cone topped with torched marshmallow fluff. Never had anything like it and it's tasty no matter which flavors you choose. read more

I was tricked by a friend to come here... so much for being on a diet when you're in Midtown Anchorage. The biggest problem is that Wild Scoops is worth "cheating on your diet"... a little bit... every day. Every time we have come to town, we have been here every day. Strangely, after filling up two punch cards, we still have not tried every flavor. Why? Because Wild Scoops is a small batch ice creamery with so much variety that Baskin Robin's head is spinning. You never know what they will have until you walk in the door. Why 5 stars? Let me make a list: 1. Free samples of any or every flavor, and even when the lines are long people don't care because they know they will get the same opportunity to " choose wisely". 2. The quality of the sweet cream base is beyond "premium". It is a whole new level of quality and ingredients. 3. The ingredients are Alaskan... blueberries, lingonberries, salmonberries... locally sourced and high quality. $4. Yes, it's only four dollars for a scoop of gourmet ice cream. For $1 more you can get it scooped into a fresh made waffle cone thats only $5. You can get a double for $6 but as a guy with an appetite... a single is plenty. 5. Once again, only $5 for an Ice Cream filled waffle cone. See the pictures below. 6. They care about the community. Currently there is a "scoop it forward" campaign . It gives us the opportunity to give a scoop to someone in a specific situation. Recent examples are, " Someone who loves Christmas year around", " Someone new to Alaska", "for a single dad". We gave a scoop to "A bereaved parent, (we don't walk alone)". 7. Just a number that's it's lucky. I am lucky to have found Wild Scoops 8. Just reading the names and combinations of the flavors is an adventure in itself. ie. The Sitka Swirl, Tundra Queen, Gooey Pecan Pie 9. If you can't decide your flavor, they split a single and give you multiple flavors 10. How many times I have checked into wild Scoops in the last two visits to Anchorage I would happily be a spokesperson for Wild Scoops... come to Wild Scoops because "Ice Cream Magic Happens Here". read more

Given its chilly reputation (temperature--not friendliness!) I was shocked to learn that Alaska anecdotally consumes more ice cream per capita than anywhere else. My friend swore by this place as the best of the best, and of course the local knew what he was talking about. It was hard to make a selection, as everything sounded so incredible. I loved all of the generous free samples they let me try--including the Black Cup Oreo (Locally roasted Black Cup Coffee + Oreos) and the excellent Wild Blueberry, but I ultimately went with the AK Birch Almond (Sweet cream + toasted almonds + Bridge Creek Birch syrup). Just incredible--fresh and sweet with the interesting texture provided by the almonds. My friend got vanilla because he is boring, but even that tasted great--like real, authentic vanilla and not artificial. We came on a weekday afternoon and it was nice and quiet. I hear there can be quite the line on evenings. I can see why and, much as I hate waiting, admit it would be totally worth it here. read more

Had the classic ice cream sandwich. Chocolate chip. I feel like it's expensive $7 for what it is. I felt like it was a bit much. Really doughy, too sweet for me couldn't even finish it because my tummy started to feel weird. Not a fan of the raw taste. But the chocolate chip was pretty good I think I'll just get that in a cup next time. read more

Best ice cream ever. Really I wish I could just leave it at that but that doesn't do Wild Scoops justice. For starters, the ever revolving flavors (minus the few constants) makes going to Wild Scoops a journey every time I visit Alaska. I've gone to Wild scoops 7ish times now, and I don't believe I have had the same flavor twice. The most impressive part I have never been disappointed with an ice cream flavor I've gotten from Wild scoops. Are there some I enjoy more than others, of course, are there any I would say "don't get this flavor", not in a million years. Although, what I suppose helps me always pick the perfect flavor is the dedication to service that the employees provide. The willingness to provide samplings of various flavors is astounding, I typically limit myself because I know I could go through trying every one of their new flavors that I have yet to try. To cap off this review is the pièce de résistance of Wild scoops, their Baked Alaska Cone, which consists of a homemade waffle cone, filled with Ice cream of your choice, all topped with toasted marshmallow fluff. The homemade waffle cone is unique as it is clearly made with fresh spices that give it a robust flavor. Then, topping it all off with toasted marshmallow fluff provides a subtle sweetness that brings the cone together perfectly. The only critique I can make of Wild Scoops, is that I wish their ice cream sandwiches, which are delicious, had double the amount of ice cream between the decadent cookies. read more

I claim to be someone that knows about food in Anchorage. I've known about Wild Scoops since before there was a location. Why the hell am I just now reviewing Wild Scoops? Two reasons: 1) Lactose intolerance 2) Low carb dieting I've minimized #2, but #1 is still an issue. Luckily, they have lactose-free ice cream here! It's more commonly referred to as VEGAN ice cream. I'm not a vegan, I love meat. But I love the vegan ice cream here! It's coconut-based to get that wonderful creamy smooth fattiness we love in ice cream...without the lactose that gives some of us bad cramps. I got "sweeter than dirt", and it was excellent. It reminded me of the "dirt" cakes my mom used to make me for my birthdays. It's got a cookie crumble thing going on. The ice cream here is pretty spendy, but worth it. Also, if you're a local, this is the place to go. Avoid those monstrous lines at the trendy downtown location! read more

Easily some of the best ice cream I have EVER had. We tried 4 flavors: puppy chow, ak honeycomb, banana pb, and turnagain mudflats. They were all the best you could hope for with their respective bases and toppings shining through and tasting super fresh! The best part was getting the "baked Alaska cone" - torched homemade marshmallow fluff on top your ice cream inside a homemade waffle cone. Who doesn't love ice cream!? Wild Scoops is some of the tastiest in Anchor town. This is a welcomed addition to the flagship location. A second more accessible location that doesn't require trekking into downtown--obviously this is amazing. It is a much larger shop with indoor and some outdoor seating. There is ample free parking at this strip mall, and you can peak into their test kitchen to watch the magic happen. I love the ice cream at Wild Scoops. It's innovative, it's delicious, it's made locally, and they are committed to using local ingredients. They have seasonal flavors that will knock your socks off as well as flagship staples. Definitely stop by one of their locations for a delicious treat. It is much needed given this heat wave we've been having, but I'm not going to pretend like I won't be heading here in winter as well. read more

Great little shop I've been wanting to try, but dread driving downtown so I never had to visit. Problem solved! They opened a second location in midtown. Yes! We visited after dinner and it was our first time here. The girls were very friendly and helpful. They offered samples, but I always feel weird asking for samples? I don't know, I'm just socially awkward in that way. Anyway! I decided on the Sunshine Club in a waffle cone for $5 as a single scoop. The sunshine club is a sweet cream base with lemon curd and snickerdoodle cookie pieces. I know right?! The single scoop was more than enough for me, and I like to eat! It was almost too much. The combination of bright lemon totally helped ease the sweetness factor. Plus it is a great end of summer flavor. The waffle cone was tasty and delicate. Some waffle cones you get other places they're pretty solid, but Wild Scoops has easy to bite cones. They have unique flavors as well as classics. They even had two vegan options available. The raspberry sorbet was a very close 2nd choice! They also offer floats with coffee or locally made root beer! They provide merch, complimentary water and feature local Alaskan artists on their gallery wall which I found very neat. Will return. read more

Delicious Ice Cream! So far everything I've tried here is amazing! I'm a simple person so my usual go to is either Vanilla or Chocolate which are both very rich in flavor. My new current favorite flavor that I tried was the honeycomb swirl, that was just off the hook!!
