The staff is very helpful and this place operates on the right model of being a butcher carrying the basics and the a small amount of specialty things rather than (like another place in the town over) trying to be too much in too little space and not carrying basics that can pay the day to day and build a base of regulars.

I have never seen a grocery store with so many food items in my life. It was like the mecca of all grocery stores. There was a large bakery section, takeout food section, along with other large areas for all types of food for dairy items, dry goods, and snack items. You kind of have to see it to believe it. There are tons of beverage choices as well and healthy food options. Nothing was out of place and it was so well organized and well sorted. I am not sure when it opened but it felt brand new. I also appreciated the different plants they had available at the main entrance. They had a wide array of pumpkins for the fall on sale as well which made a nice added touch. I am not so much a fruit person but right when you walk in, there were so many fruit items that were neatly placed, I didn't even wish to pick one as to prevent any of the items looking in disarray but for those that enjoy fruit, it is a fruit lovers' paradise! The pricing on some of the items seem a bit higher than others but i am sure the quality is excellent. There were so many brands that I have never heard of that I wanted to try! I have been pretty sensitive to a lot of foods lately so I have to be cautious but most of the foods seem safe to eat. I didn't check out the wine and liquor area as I think they have that as well, but if you are like me and eat with your eyes, then i suggest that you come with a full belly because you'll want to buy everything! I had an unforeseen event happen with an item I bought, it broke while I was walking back home with groceries, and I went back to exchange it and they did so with no issue. Marchello the cashier who assisted me made sure that I had the instructions for the Pete's Rewards/Loyalty App and then another cashier (Evelyn) and her colleague were super helpful for me in replacing the item that broke. I think what was most amazing was the bakery section. I have a makor sweet tooth and I have been trying to cut back on sweets, but if you love sweets, it looks like they have gourmet style desserts and pastries. Right next to that is the hot takeout section and the hot dishes that are presented vary but it was fully stocked and replenished. I was quite impressed after visiting this grocery store. In many ways, it has more to offer than the Pete's on Lake Street. However, what makes this location very different from the Pete's on Lake is the customer service, and unfortunately, it is horrible. Literally, no one seems to know where anything is or be able to answer basic questions. The employees do not seem knowledgeable about the store, and there is very little friendliness or customer interaction. At the Pete's on Lake, you would receive friendly smiles and employees would greet you as you walked through the store. At this location, no one says hello, and when you ask a question, it often seems like no one knows the answer. I was also disappointed with the service at checkout. I was behind a lady who paid $2.99 for a cup of ice, while I was waiting for my smoothie. Her simple cup of water was not ready before my smoothie order. There was no thank you, no acknowledgment, and no sense of customer care. Even though this Pete's on Madison is much closer to my house, I would honestly rather drive to the Pete's on Lake. The customer service makes a huge difference. I truly miss the friendly atmosphere, welcoming smiles, and excellent customer service that I experienced at Pete's on Lake.
