First, our server was excellent! I wish I could remember her name but sadly I don't. I took off 1 star because the table we were placed had an ant problem. I couldn't thoroughly enjoy my meal because I had to constantly kill ants so they wouldn't get on our plates. When I addressed it with the server, she said it's a known issue. It was not busy, we could've been placed at almost any other table but were seated at the one with the bug problem. Had I noticed it before the food came out I would've asked to move but at that point I didn't want to force my elderly mother to have to move. Find a way to deal with your bug problem! read more

I went to Wild Eggs New Albany for lunch recently with a friend, and it was wonderful. I got the eggs Benedict California style with the grits of the day as my side; they were really good cheese grits. The main entree was delicious. We have been going to Wild Eggs for years, since their original location opened in Louisville. We were very excited when they opened a location in New Albany, and we no longer had to drive so far. However, the last few visits have been dissapointing. The staff is still attentive, but the food seems to be lacking. This last visit, we ordered a cinnamon roll, which in the past has been luciously gooey and delicious. Today it was overcooked, very dry and crispy. Not a good description for a cinnamon roll covered in cream cheese frosting. I ordered their steak omelette and was highly dissapointed. If there was a whole ounce of "steak" in it, I'd be surprised. I had very tiny, pea size pieces of what looked like lunch meat sporadically through the omelette. It was really just an onion and green pepper omelette. I will say that the eggs were cooked perfectly. There just needed to be steak in their steak omelette. Their potato casserole was very good and their blueberry muffin was delicious! Its also gotten really expensive, as have most things now. But the quality just isn't there anymore. I'm not sure we'll be going back any time soon. The best I can say is its ok. An unexpected delight! The food was absolutely delicious and servings were very generous! It's also a much larger dining area than the photos made it seem. The bar area and tables around it are first come first serve so we were able to avoid the wait! I would suggest making a reservation or calling to hop on the waitlist ahead of time! There was a 30 minute wait on a Saturday at 10am. Our server was attentive and extremely knowledgable of the menu which was helpful. Highly recommend!!! read more

After reading the disgruntled review below, I looked for several other options for breakfast but couldn't find anything that fit what we were looking for besides this. I came with reservations... But I leave very satisfied! Coffee is very good- which is important for breakfast! I had the Potato Head dish which was truly spectacular. My Southern boy husband ordered a make your own omelette with shrimp and spinach. He did not think the shrimp was fabulous (but I say, what can you expect in the middle of the Midwest????) but the omelette was made perfect and he was well satisfied. Everything was hot and very fresh. He also chose the blueberry muffin and thinks it's one of the best he's had. Darren was our waiter and he was perfect. Once upon a time, we had been to the Wild Eggs place in Clarkesville, IN, but that was ages ago. Since I was free as a bird this week, my wife and I decided to fly over to this place that had changed its feathers twice before. It used to be the Lancasters and then Daisy's. The inside of the place was like a rainbow, full of bright colors and lights. It made us feel warm and happy on this chilly and gloomy day. The only thing we wished for was a little more heat, like a cozy fireplace. We were greeted by Jacob, who was also our fairy godwaiter. He was amazing, folks! You should ask for him by name! He whisked away our drink orders and brought them back so fast that we didn't even have time to blink! He kept our glasses full and popped up every now and then to see if we needed anything and was super nice. When I asked for a box to take home our leftovers and he learned it was for our dog, he smiled like he had just won the lottery. He was so happy that we were thinking of our furry friend and not letting food go to waste. The menu was like a treasure chest, full of gems and jewels. It was hard to pick one. I went for chicken and waffles with the Nashville hot sauce on the side. I like spicy food, but that sauce was not my cup of tea. Sadly, as he was setting the plate down, the cup tipped over. Luckily, it didn't spill everywhere, but enough of it did that I didn't touch the rest of it. The chicken was heavenly! It was worth a five-star review by itself. The waffles were also yummy, even without any syrup. When I added the house-made buttermilk syrup, it was like magic. As George Takei would say, "Oh, my!" I went in for breakfast on a Sunday morning with a friend. I ordered the cinnamon roll, and to my horror, noticed mold on the roll halfway through eating it. When I pointed it out to the server, my concerns were dismissed and I was told that it was "just cinnamon." Cinnamon isn't green. I should also add that the server did not look at my roll and did not offer to bring me a new one. I was very clearly not a priority. I'm not saying she should have dropped everything, but in my opinion, if a customer is concerned about food safety, that needs to be addressed. In light of this, I took photos of my food and posted a review. A day or so after posting my review, I had heard nothing from the restaurant, so decided to reach out and request a refund. The process was overly complicated, and I had to give the manager my card number multiple times before he "found my order." I can't confirm this, but it does feel like he was dragging it out in the hopes that I would hang up and cease bothering him. He did tell me during our call that upper management reached out about the photos and he hadn't responded. Apparently they have customers complain about moldy cinnamon rolls frequently. After the manager refunded me, he asked me to delete my review- which I did. I regret doing that. I am reposting my review to let people know about the quality of food and service here- or, I suppose, the lack thereof. I won't be returning, and I highly recommend patronizing other local businesses, such as Sleepy Rooster or Leaven Bakery, instead of this shitty chain. My husband and I decided to make a trip to New Albany for a nice breakfast at Wild Eggs. The last time we went was to the Clarksville location. I have to say this location was absolutely beautiful.. made you feel so welcomed. I ordered the steak Bennie's and my husband got their chicken and waffles. I truly enjoyed my breakfast I couldn't eat it all so my husband said let's take the leftover steak to our girl Lucy. Our waiter was so excited he said I would rather do that than throw it away. I treated myself to breakfast the other morning and it was decent, but nothing special. The food was underseasoned and the burrito could've been a lot better. I didn't find any chorizo in it, so it was either missing or too negligible to taste or see. There was also unripe, hard avocado sitting on top; if they'd actually sliced the avo a bit, they would've noticed. The potatoes were great, but seemed like they copied Taco Bell's recipe. The ambiance was fine, I was just picking up. The chicken Florentine crepes were great tasting, but it was all kinda a mush and needed more seasoning. Lastly, I got a fruit cup. Wow. This restaurant exceeded my expectations by a million. The interior doesn't have much to wow you, a classic diner style, but the food was delicious. I got the pancake stack with bacon. The buttermilk pancakes were so delicious. You could tell that they take care when making their dishes. I also tried the skillet cinnamon roll and it was a hit with the rest of my party. It's more of a flaky pastry than a traditional cinnamon bun but no less delicious. If I am ever back in this area I will definitely stop by Wild Eggs again! read more
