I'm always glad to see something new open up in Glasgow and so when my partner suggested we try this place out I quickly Yelp'd it and found it's only been open a month and to go good reviews! Cabaret can be hit or miss but it was a Thursday evening so why the hell not! There are two parts to the venue, the main cabaret stage and dining area - laid out like you'd imagine a Las Vegas show to be (on a slightly smaller scale admittedly) it must seat almost 250 people - and a lounge bar which had a band playing some old dancehall classics. We were greeted fairly promptly on arrival, although there wasn't anyone front of house which was a bit disconcerting as it looks a little like a hotel reception (more on that later), and taken into the large dining hall to our table for two, right near the stage! Two guitarists were on stage, and seeing us arrive they asked for a request for the next song. They were good, with a good line in banter to keep things moving along. Our orders were taken promptly, although there was a little wait to get our drinks (more on that later too) and we settled back to listen to the music. It wasn't overly loud either. The menu looks great, and we opted for some sharing plates. The Charcuterie, smoked salmon, cheese on toast (with rich blue cheese), some pomme frites, amongst others, all arrived quickly and what a feast! It's obvious they use good ingredients as each plate, no matter how different, was delicious. We shared each and were soon stuffed to the gills, just in time for the first of four comedians to come on stage to entertain us! Each act was great, including one very droll skeleton (I won't spoil it in case he's there again) and had the small audience (and the staff) laughing along. So, good friendly service, great food (I spotted the fillet steak being served, that'll be my choice next time!) and some great entertainment! Not much to complain about! And in truth, there wasn't. The only downside was that, in a massive space, there were only four customers, my partner and I and, thankfully as they arrived after us, another couple. It made for a slightly surreal evening so kudos to the performers for going with it, it certainly didn't spoil the night. We were told that Friday and Saturdays it's much much busier, and I've already mentioned it to some people I work with as a potential venue for a company night out. I really hope it picks up a little more for them or I fear they'll end up only opening at the weekend, which is a shame. It's a great venue to have in Glasgow, something different is always good, but unless they drum up more business I fear for the future. I'd urge you go along (maybe at the weekend for now) and check it out!

We decided to visit here on Friday night on a total whim and booked online the night before - we were able to nab a table for 6.15 and spotted an offer for their sharing plates menu, three dishes for just £12. Good deal! We were shown to our table by the stage - it was pretty quiet at this time of the night but the bookings are staggered (obviously to make it easier on the kitchen) and by the time we left I think it was totally full or very close. This place is super glam - lovely soft velvet chairs, lots of shiny, sparkly lights and super dolled up/slick staff. This is definitely somewhere to dress up for. We looked at both menus (there is also a set 2 course option with a glass of wine for £24.50) but decided to go with the sharing plates as there was a couple of things I fancied. I ordered the wild mushroom and truffle sausage roll with piccalilli, fish supper (haddock with rosemary chips) and the smoked salmon. Graeme and I ended up sharing our dishes though so I also got to try the charcuterie and the cheese on toast. For me, the real highlights were the sausage roll (I know, I wasn't expecting that) and the blue cheese on toast. Oh, and the chips with the fish supper. And the fish. And the salmon. To be honest, everything was a very, very high standard and I was delighted at how good it all was. I tried not to eat too much of the cheese on toast but it was pretty much my dream dish - cashel blue & Seggie Porter rarebit - it was so rich, so blue and so heavenly. The sausage roll was delicious and went so well with the piccalilli (surely one of the best foods on earth). Super crispy chips and lovely moist fish. Service was very attentive and friendly and couldn't be faulted. My one small gripe on the night was that despite the place being nearly empty at the time, a table was seated directly in front of our view of the stage. This wasn't really a problem though as I could see by them, it just seemed strange in such a quiet place. Entertainment was fabulous - we couldn't stay on for the main act but were entertained by a swing trio with a wonderful singer who had good banter and provided some wonderful music. To be able to go for a night out in Glasgow that cost around £40 and be entertained in a gorgeous place like this was pretty special and we spent most of the weekend raving about it. I can't wait to try the set menu knowing the standards of the food on the sharing platter. A very impressive place indeed.

I purchased a voucher from itison and I'll be honest I was expecting it to be like other places I have used a voucher for where you get the meal etc but none of the trimmings ie not free olives and bread etc so I was pleasantly surprised to receive a lovely glass of fizz on arrival and it was in a vintage style champagne glass. I brought my mum as a wee treat and she really enjoyed it. The voucher was for afternoon tea and not long after we had been given our fizz we were given a lovely stand of cakes and sandwiches. The sandwiches were delicate wee finger sandwiches and there was 4 each, they were delicious but we bot would have liked maybe 6 sandwiches and a bit less cake. There was egg mayo, ham and pickle and cheese and smoked salmon, all of them were delicious. The highlight of the cakes for us was the scone which was still just warm from the oven, it was a bloody good scone! Light and fluffy and melt in the mouth with clotted cream and raspberry jam. There were so many cakes that we shared the rest so we could have a taste of everything. Everything appeared to have been home made on the premises and it was all delicious. There was a singer on and he was singing American swing, my. Mum loved it and was just dying to get up and dance. He was really good, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were just fabulous, really good! We will definitely be popping in again soon, and highly recommend the afternoon tea. I really want to go for dinner and a show next

So, for anyone that reads my reviews regularly you may notice a trend...in that I LOVE an Itison deal. Or any bargain really. And our afternoon tea at Wild Cabaret, a fairly recent addition to Merchant City, showed that lower prices don't have to mean lower quality. At £14 for 2 people, our Sparkling afternoon tea was a delight. Being a quiet afternoon we had our choice of seats in the luxuriantly decorated bar area, a wonderfully comfortable venue for afternoon tea. We were offered water on arrival (charged separately), and was told our bubbly would be with us promptly. As 2 delicate, brimming champagne glasses were placed on our table we were given the tea menu (as in the drink) to peruse while we waited on our platter. Tea (the meal) was three tiers of sandwiches and cakes, which were fresh, tasty, and abundant in size and quantity. My first of only 2 negatives was that the egg and cress sandwich seemed to be more like mayonnaise sandwich, with the egg making a brief guest appearance. The ham and tomato was bursting with flavour, and the cakes were expectantly, sugarifically sickening. To wash them down I chose a refreshing lavender and fruit tea, which, although not in the voucher deal, was included with the afternoon tea. The final, and second of only two negatives, was that were not allowed to take out leftover cakes, which we physically could not fit in our already swollen tummys, reason being, we were told, was it was in case we get sick. I take that point if you're taking a doggy bag of previously cooked food, which you plan to reheat, but how much danger could a scone or Empire a biscuit pose? Regardless, the food was epic, the setting delightful, and the staff (the single waitress) was outstanding. My friend and I are already planning our next visit!

Wild Cabaret is so hit and miss. I've visited twice in the last 2 weeks and on both occasions had a few sources of disappointment and also lots of positive bits so it's a strange one! I love the idea of dinner/lunch and a a show. The decor in the venue is stunning - really vintage but polished and slick with great atmospheric lighting. The view of the stage is really poor for some seats and you don't get to choose where you sit when you book (possibly for this reason). The cocktails are fantastic and there's three mocktails on the menu too. The evening "big show" is quite expensive - £24.50 or £32.50 for 2 or 3 courses and on top it's £15 for your deposit which secures your ticket and booking. The portions are quite small and by the time everyone in our party was served it was a bit cold. Also, I had advised that one of our party was vegan at the time of booking and was told this was fine, but this seemed like a bit of an inconvenience when we were ordering which was disappointing. The Sunday family show this week was a carvery - much bigger portions and nice and hot. It was only £15 each for 2 courses- including the show - and children under 12 are free. This is much better value but of course is children oriented. The acts are fun and varied as with the adult evening show. The show itself is really great fun - a mix of magic, cabaret singing, can can dancers, aerial artists, sideshow acts and dancers - and this varies for every performance. Having a good host seems key to a good experience. The toilets aren't well maintained at all and drinks can take ages to arrive. The service is also hit and miss with some brilliant attentive staff and others less impressive and a bit disinterested. I wish Wild Cabaret was more consistently excellent but it's not. It won't stop me visiting again for a night out but I'd come much more often if it was hitting the spot.

It's not every day you get dinner and a show at the same time. Usually it's dinner before a show, or after, but at Wild Cabaret in Merchant City, you are literally surrounded by acrobats, show girls and cabaret hosts as you tuck in to your meal. I don't think this is a place that's for everyone, it's very much a marmite situation, you'll either love it or hate it and I LOVED it. From having a microphone stuck in my face and told I had no tune, to watching Jesus strip, every part of it was silly, fun and interactive. Before the show started though, we had time to order drinks and peruse the menu. We were escorted to our seats, which were two sitting opposite each other at the end of a long table which sat around 10 people. Not very private, but that was part of the whole experience and didn't really phase us. The décor inside the Wild Cabaret is truly stunning and really gave you that first initial cabaret feeling. The main colour scheme was black & gold, with large leopard murals and amazing bowler hat lights. I should point out that, although I brought my actual camera with me so I could capture the evening, the battery died almost immediately and I had to use my phone, so I can only apologise for the quality of the photos. We had originally been told we were booking the Christmas menu and asked to place a 50% deposit of £55 which I thought was pretty steep, and on arrival, we were given the normal menu and told the Christmas one wasn't available until after next week. This was a little disappointing, but the evening menu was very similar so we ordered some wine and debated over what to eat. Looking at the starters available on the menu, I decided to just go right out of my comfort zone and order the scallops. I don't usually eat seafood but I always think scallops look so tasty and elegant, plus they came with haggis AND black pudding. I'm not really sure what possessed me to make this decision; I guess none of the other starters really appealed to me! The show began just as our starters arrived. We were introduced to our host, Des, and our first act, a woman who could do some serious hoola-hooping. As a first taste of the show to come, I was pretty impressed and the host was great at getting the crowd excited. My starter, the scallops, was, and I can't quite believe I'm saying this, delicious. The scallops had a lovely caramelized top and perfect texture, without the fishy aftertaste. They went perfectly with the wedge of black pudding and the little haggis fritter. By this point I was beaming with delight - I was ready for my next course and for the show to go on! I cheated a little bit with my main course and ordered a sirloin steak, again I think because I wasn't overly excited by any of the house mains. When our steaks arrived, I ended up with Sam's fillet. Before he noticed this though, he poured the peppercorn sauce all over my sirloin, something I never do. I got over it and we switched steaks, both of which were cooked perfectly to order. I had asked for mine medium-rare, which a lot of the time isn't done quite right, but this steak was exactly right, and already had the fat removed which I really appreciated. It was really flavoursome and the peppercorn sauce was fiery, creamy and tasty, except for a faint earthy taste I couldn't put my finger on. For my dessert, I chose the Pear Tart Tatin, which came with little chunks of fresh pear, a pastry tuile, fresh cream, caramel sauce, and a flavour of ice cream I don't remember because at this point we were well into our second bottle of wine. I think it was vanilla. Although my photos don't do it justice, it was a really great dessert - the pear was caramelized and warm, the pastry crisp and flaky - paired with fresh pear and cold ice cream, what's not to love? Throughout the course of the show we saw a man swallow razors and swords, a mind reader, the can-can, aerial acrobatics, singers, a Glaswegian parody on burlesque and a stripping Jesus. It was so camp, so shocking, so silly and SO. MUCH. FUN. Sam and I spent the entire evening gasping and laughing at the acts, complementing the food and talking about all the people we knew that would love it. We both can't wait to go back, but I think it might be better enjoyed with another couple or with a group of friends because it's really a shared experience. Our bill was not cheap - although the set menu cost around £32.50 for three courses, there was a supplement for our steaks, we ordered 2 bottles of wine, and treated ourselves to a glass of champers each with our desserts. It can be done on a budget, we amped up the price on the drinks, and it is entirely worth the price as you have the table (if you want it) until 3am, with the cabaret finishing around 12am.

Great entertainment, a variety of acts throughout the evening. I had scallops to start, which I didn't particularly enjoy, but that was perhaps just me! The main course I had was toffee apple pork, mash and kale. The mash and kale were delicious, but the pork was pork belly and therefore very fatty. I had a pimms Eton mess for dessert which was a definite highlight - I didn't want it to end! I was the designated driver so mocktails for me! Only 4 to choose from, which is standard. The first I had was an elderflower fizz. It wasn't very pleasant but again, I think that's just my personal preference! The second, a berry spritz, was delicious and seemed much larger. Worth coming for the entertainment. I think the food is a bit overpriced...I'd probably rather come for the show and drinks instead.

Went to a gig at Wild Cabaret this past week and was struck by what a cool venue it is. I didn't know much about it before visiting and was pleasantly surprised. In the actual venue bit, the cabaret layout was great - no standing around not paying attention to the performers cos my feet are killing me/the tallest hat-wearer ever is directly in front of me. The bar area/lounge was pretty full when we arrived but we were served quickly by a friendly lady. They have an extensive collection of bourbon, and not just the standard ones, which really pleased my partner, who is well into his bourbon. Pricewise, I assume some sort of cocktail happy hour was going on as our first round, a single bourbon and a Coke cost £6 but our second, a Coke and a giant bourbon cocktail cost £7. I'd go back for another visit and will be delighted if more acts choose this venue as the cabaret seating really appeals to my ageing trotters.

The interior reminds me of being back in Berlin (my favourite place in the world) with it's quirky seating, the countless postcards on the wall and 80s music on in the background. I have eaten here at all times of the day and have never been disappointed. For breakfast the Eggs Benedict are amazing, there is a huge range of salads and sandwiches for lunch and on Friday and Saturday nights they now open for dinner. I tried the evening menu a few weeks ago and it was excellent. Beef with black pudding to start, perfectly cooked fish to follow and then really good coffee. At just over £40 for 2 starters, 2 mains, dessert and coffee it is amazing value. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want a little bit of Europe in Glasgow this is the place to be.

By chance this past Sunday my boyfriend Mark was getting his camera cleaned a few doors down from the cafe so I gave him my best "I'm hungry eyes" and we decided to pop in for some lunch. The decor is beyond cool, the walls are a tilled map of the world and the the seating areas consist of old bus seats. The staff make you feel welcome straight away and just chat to you as if they are your best pal. I didn't even have my bum on the seat before I was asked did I know what part of Greece, Cyprus was in? Answers on a postcard because no one knew the answer! The table next to us were going in on their all day breakfast which I made a mental note to try at a later date but today I was in the mood for the classic soup and sandwich combo. All the sandwiches and salads are named after locations and the home made soups change daily. I had a toastie with peppers, balsamic vinegar, mozzarella, tomato and onion with lentil and chickpea soup. Mark had a chicken and pesto pannini with the pea and ham soup. The food was just brilliant. Fresh, tasty and filling. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. There was little to no talking as we ate and we both left very clean plates. The highlight for me had to be the soup, I've never had chickpeas in a soup before but it was pretty special. The prices were more than reasonable and I had a lovely earl grey tea with my food while mark enjoyed a beer. The Trans-Europe cafe is one of those special places in Glasgow that is kept alive by its great food, staff and returning customers and I've just put myself firmly in that last category.

Oh. My. Flock. Was this pop up one of the best I've ever tried? Yes, yes it was…read more Flock Pop Up by John Traynor (formerly of the Porter & Rye, Lebowski's Group) showcases Scottish food in relaxed settings. This one was hosted at Seb & Mili which is a fab cafe in the city centre and it made for a great dining spot in the evening - relaxing and comfortable. The 8 course menu was £35pp and actually, in the end, I think it was underpriced for all the delicious food we scoffed. Starting with warm bread and a piece of crispy chicken skin, I was immediately impressed. The chicken skin was crispy yet still a little chewy, and tasted all the better for being topped with liver pate. Moving onto the next course (which was fabulously introduced by the front of house staff) which was beetroot with crowdie cheese. There was a lovely granita through the dish which really elevated the dish from being just beetroot and cheese. Scallop ceviche was one of the stand-out dishes for me - I love scallop, and this was so soft and delicate and really did justice to it. It was a refreshing dish too, so even though we'd eaten a bit by this stage, it felt like a nice intermission before diving into the heavier dishes. I really liked the pumpkin seeds with it which were a bit unusual with a ceviche. The only dish that I didn't love as much as I hoped was the duck, and I think that's purely because it was served warm rather than hot. It was a large slice of breast with the skin still on, and absolutely delicious flavour combinations (gingerbread with duck?! Yes!). But for me, I would have liked it a little hotter. The final main was a 60 day aged rump steak by Rodgers Butchers. This was the best steak I've had in my life. And I've had a lot of amazing steak. It was just so soft and buttery, delicate and mouthwatering. I lingered over this dish because I just didn't want it to end. It was served with a stack of barley risotto and kale which I appreciated as something completely to what you normally get with steak while being very Scottish and modern. Onto dessert. If you've ever read a review of mine, you'll know I pretty much never have dessert. I just don't have a sweet tooth and have some issues with dairy so avoid it. The first dessert was a popcorn panna cotta which was very mild in taste and a nice fresh way of leading into the chocolate mousse. The granola crumb was excellent. Finally, chocolate mousse with peanut butter ice cream. I actually preferred the ice cream to the mousse, it was chunky PB with a massive amount of flavour. Just delicious. So what else can I say about Flock Pop Up? We had a fabulous night - it was relaxing, intimate and the food was well paced. We were actually in a hurry as we had a gig to go to, and so managed to scoff all that food in 75 minutes. Other tables were taking their time which is understandable! I loved the attention and respect that was paid to local Scottish produce and really felt like that was the champion of the night - everything was sourced locally, from the duck to truffles and beef, and it was really nice to see a chef do Scottish food in such a modern way.

Gosh, I really want to give this pop up more than three stars as I'm well and truly appreciative of…read morethe fact that I won a dinner for two, but my experience here was just a-ok. Set in Seb and Mili's, Flock Pop Up set up shop to give diners a casual yet sophisticated dining experience showcasing Scotlands local fare at an affordable price. Even though it was casual, Sophie K and I decided we were going to dress a step above casual and we felt as though we fit right in with the rest of the crowd there. Our reservations some how got mixed up but they were able to accommodate us which was great! We were sat as soon as we got there an were brought the menu which laid out what was on for the evening. We knew it was BYOB as Sophie K noticed it on Twitter, otherwise, we wouldn't have known to bring anything to drink. No worries. First out were warmed rolls and smoked butter. I am a huge fan of anything and everything smoked, however, this butter left me wanting more smoked flavour. If anything, it was more of a knob of butter with a bit of smoked salt sprinkled on top. I couldn't really taste the smoked salt once I spread it on the bread. None the less, who doesn't like a warm bit of bread? Next up was the crispy chicken skin with liver pate. Normally, I would pick the skin off any meat that I eat, but I figured I would give this a go. The taste of the chicken skin brought back memories of my tubbier childhood days where I would eat the skin off of chicken and quite enjoy it. The liver pate, although not a favourite of mine, was almost unnoticeable given the chicken skin was so flavourful. Not a negative, but a positive as I don't normally eat liver pate either. (I'm such a bore). The next course was the beetroot with crowdie cheese. This course was made by the cheese as beetroot on it's own is pretty flavourless. I ate this plate in a hurry as it was pretty tasty. The next course was the scallop ceviche. I'm not exactly sure where to begin with this one. Of all the dishes, this one was probably my least favourite. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love scallops, but I've discovered, unfortunately through eating this dish, that I'm not a fan of raw scallops. Besides the fact that there was a huge amount of scallops on the dish, the frozen apple confused me and brought nothing to the dish. The duck was probably my favourite dish of the night. The only thing I will mention about all the dishes, especially the meat dishes, is that they were barely luke warm which was a little off putting. The duck was perfectly cooked, but lacked temperature, so it was a little strange eating it. Everything about this dish was perfect, including the blackberries and the gingerbread puree. I would eat this dish over and over again. The steak was indeed another tasty dish, but again, it was a little too cool for my liking. Instead of it feeling like a sophisticated dish, I felt like it was needing a roll and ju to turn it in to a steak sandwich. I wasn't a fan of the pearl barley risotto, it tasted too much like a scotch broth, without the broth and the steak could have used a bit more ju. Along with the duck, the desserts made me happy. While I've never had a pana cotta, this one had the texture of a hard boiled egg white, which was a bit odd to me. It did, however taste like popcorn which was amazing. The lemon curd stole the show and I would have gladly eaten my body weight in it if given the chance. I also absolutely loved the chocolate mousse and the peanut butter ice cream. By far my favourite of the two. The wee touch of banana also made the dish interesting. Over all, the meal was good, but there were just a few things that made this a three star versus a four star experience for me. The food came out rather quickly which was nice, but all of the food was either cold (meant to be) or just barely warm when it should have or could have potentially been piping hot. The wait staff and the chef were all very lovely and accommodating, which is always great and the location of the pop us was cozy.

Slow, slow service with aperitifs arriving half way through meal and paired wine arriving as plates clearing. We continually had to flag staff for ordering drinks as never offered and then chase so they'd arrive. We weren't the only table in the same position. Staff seemed to be enjoying themselves with animated conversations and laughs among themselves while we waited for bill 10 mins after asking. Ended up having to walk out to the front and make it clear we were leaving. Large service fee automatically added. Food was very average with many listed ingredients and flavours missing in the final dish. Consequently bland or unbalanced. Small portions and despite ordering more plates than they recommended we left hungry. Expensive for what it is. Very very disappointing. Trading on a good old name.

The menu changes regularly, but if you are interested in going any time soon (March 2022) I'd highly recommend the scallop ceviche (we ate it before I managed to take a picture) which was mind blowing and the wild mushroom and gnocchi dish. The prices are very reasonable and the staff were so nice. I'll definitely be back!!!!

Have visited this restaurant once before and I enjoyed my second visit…read more It was a Wedesday evening and it was quiet with just one couple and us three. The waitress was young and a little inexperienced. Nevertheless she did well and was cheerful and helpful. We started with 2 soups - potato and leek which was lovely and I went for the Garlic Bruschetta which I enjoyed There was a Steak Dinner offer on at £12.50 and we all went for it. Friend has difficulty swallowing but really likes a steak. The chef came out and gave her various options. She went for the "batter into submission" option. It duly arrived and she was very happy. The steak came with potatoes, mushrooms, cooked tomatoes on the vine (mmmm), battered onion rings and a peppercorn sauce. I do not like peppercorn anything so he came up with a creamy mushroom sauce which was delicious. My only gripe was that the potatoes were not nice. Very dry and looked and tasted like they had been cooked some time ago and reheated. We had tablet ice cream with toffee sauce for sweet. The tablet ice creams was good but the toffee sauce was extremely good. So much so I quickly ate the ice cream with some of the sauce and scoffed the toffee sauce straight from its boat. We finished with coffees, The price considering we had three courses, wine and coffee was very reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Out of all the places you can visit in Glasgow I would recommend this one as closest to the original intent. Other places have had to unfortunately modernize with exit signs, lighting, etc... that were not part of the original vision. On site there is a gift shop, cafe with indoors and outdoor seating, upstairs private meeting room and wedding area, and of course rooms designed by Mackintosh. The only unfortunate name is "House For An Art Lover". It seems somehow not so serious and I think it should have just been called "Mackintosh House". This was designed in paper in 1908 but not completed until 1996, there is an alcove between the 1st and 2nd story that has a scale model and reproductions of the design drawings. The thing I LOVED is there were no barriers and you could touch and sit anywhere you want. There is a room with a fancy piano and I was surprised you could sit there and play on it, listened to our oldest play Minuet in G and felt like we were transported back in time. This is the room that shows up in a lot of photography and our favorite.

It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.
