This food truck was at the Thursday statehouse market and they had the shortest line so I decided to give it a try. I'm a bit of a brisket aficionado (lived in Austin for 5 years) and am always on the lookout for the best versions in Indiana. I ordered the basic brisket sandwich (not their brisket-topped mac&cheese bowl) to properly assess the quality. It's served on a standard white hamburger bun and you have a choice of BBQ sauces to put on it. I opted for the 'Heat' sauce as I am also a chilehead. It's more of a knife-and-fork sandwich due to the bun, but the meat itself isn't bad. I despise dry brisket and this is anything but. In fact it may have gone a bit too far in the other direction, but that may be due to the steam table where the meat is kept on the truck. I booked Wild Boar BBq for an event for our church back in April of 2023. Had to go through the ordeal with the food truck site and get "matched". I gave Travis all the information as far as crowd size etc., and that there would be another truck (2 total) for the event. and all was good. I explained that the other was a pretty new food truck to the industry - small mom and pop mexican food truck. They have good food, just not very fast. Also emailed a few weeks ago to let him know we moved the time up by an hour to catch the lunch crowd. Today, 17 days before the event, Travis cancelled. Gave me an explanation that he had to re-consider because crowd size was not big enough - that they can serve 100-120 people an hour and he should have done the math. And now at least one truck would have a "great" day. We were not looking for an "express line", just good food for a music festival in downtown Indy. It is the 2nd year for our festival, so trying to pack it with the best food, drink and music possible. They might have good food, but I guess I'll never know. So, don't count on Wild Boar BBq; they can back out on you at the last minute. Not only do they need a minimum guarantee; they need a "guarantee" of a great day. read more

Wild Boar catered our company meeting and everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. The meats were tender and full of flavor and sides were delicious. Wild Boar BBQ is a food truck. That's it. I mean, there's lots of food trucks. What could possibly make this food truck so special? Wild Boar is a semi-regular attendee of the Indiana Government Center's "Statehouse Market," a weekly "market" event that takes place on the grounds of the Indiana Government Center every Thursday during lunch throughout summer. Despite this regularity, I'd never tried Wild Boar today usually because I'm easily distracted by those pizza trucks. Boy, have I been missing out. Wild Boar BBQ, as you might guess, serves up BBQ and all those related BBQ style foods including pulled pork, pulled chicken, beef brisket, and other meats of the smoked variety. They also have such things as mac n' cheese, ham and cheese and other variations along with a variety of side options. They offer multiple sauce types including sweet, hot, buffalo, chipotle and at least one or two more. The truck itself is kind of small, but one great plus for someone in a wheelchair is that they often have a side cart and the person taking orders is actually outside the truck. It means actually accessing the truck involves less stretching and less of a chance you'll actually wheel off the side of a curb. The prices, I would dare say, are a notch below the usual food truck prices with most of the sandwiches right around $7.00 for a substantial hunk o' meat on a bun. Most of the sides are in the $2-3 range, while the usual canned drinks are available at $1.00. They do also have bottled water. The crew today was super friendly and the orders served up rather quickly. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich - the sweet sauce was added to it. They offered plastic utensils, a definite plus, and I actually ended up eating my "sandwich" with a fork since I'm a spastic paraplegic and messy foods occasionally leave me looking like a toddler with their first chocolate chip cookie. The meat? Absolutely frickin' incredible. It was tender and juicy and much less messy than I expected. I honestly think this may rival for my favorite pulled chicken sandwich in the city. The serving size was solid, easily worth $7, and I immediately wondered why it had taken me so long to try the place out. While I seldom give a food truck a 5-star rating, after all I really care about service, the truth is this was a pretty easy decision. I look forward to trying some of their other options and I definitely give Wild Boar a major thumbs up and a must try for those who are into the smoked meat scene. I visited the Wild Boar Food Truck at the First Friday Food Trucks in Plainfield. The aroma alone had me as soon as I was close. They serve beef brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken and another meat that I've forgotten. The BBQ sauces consist of chipotle, sweet, buffalo and hot. I mixed the hot and chipotle sauce and it was very good. I ordered the Pulled Pork Nacho which was a large order. As I noted, I mixed the Chipotle and hot sauce together. The nachos had a generous portion of smokey pulled pork with warm, gooey cheese. I could only eat about half but wished I could have finished all. The two ladies at the Wild Boar Truck were really nice. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted and they were very patient. Sodas and water were also for sale for just a $1. Tables were in great demand but we eventually found a table. I will look for Wild Boars Food Truck at the next event and try different meats. I was happy to see these guys cooking up BBQ at TwoDEEP this Friday. I ordered a brisket sandwich with spicy suave and their smoked Gouda mac and cheese. The food was excellent! It was so good I almost regretted agreeing to share it with my girlfriend. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and it was complimented beautifully by their homemade BBQ sauce. Just the right amount of spice to have kick but not burn your face off. The mac will change your life. It was creamy, smokey and delicious. We visited Wild Boar BBQ tonight when they were parked at Black Acre Brewing Co. Love their little cabin trailing behind the truck! We both had pulled pork sandwiches. We chose a mix of the sweet BBQ and the mild option and thought both were tasty. The buns were great, too! We also split some mac and cheese which was pretty tasty (although I'd recommend making sure you eat it when it's still piping hot--it's just one of those things that taste better early on in the meal). One thing that I loved was that I thought it was very fairly priced ($6 per sandwich and $2 for the mac and cheese). I often think that food trucks are overpriced because they frequently charge the same amount ($8-10) for an entree as a regular restaurant. You pay for the food itself and for someone to make the food, but in a restaurant you also pay for service. I think food trucks get away with marking prices up a little because of the novelty of it being from a food truck, and Wild Boar BBQ was the happy exception. Five minutes after stepping up to the end of a rather long line I had a juicy and delicious pulled pork sandwich in my hands, with drink and chips on the side. I just moved here from Kansas City, Missouri. I have tried a lot of BBQ all my life. I haven't been too impressed with the BBQ places here in Indy. Today I tracked down the truck during lunch (very responsive via Facebook) and got my BBQ fix. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich mix sauce (sweet&hot) with smoked gouda Mac n cheese as my side. The pulled pork was nice and tender, sauce was good, and the bun was good quality. The mac n cheese is a white sauce and big shells. Not your ordinary Mac n cheese. It was pretty awesome! Great portion sizes. They gave me a serving of brisket on the side and even that was amazing. Tender and tasty. I ate everything in the box. Great prices. Definitely something to check out if you love BBQ. read more

We huddled up inside of Two Deep Brewing Company on a chilly evening and were happy to see a BBQ truck was there. What we ordered was the rib tips, ribs, smoked gouda Mac n Cheese, and coleslaw. What we got were two overflowing boxes of made-today BBQ that was juicy and fell off the bone. We both got Wild Mild BBQ sauce, which was sweet and garlicky and had tremendous good flavor. But, the rub on the ribs was so incredibly flavorful, I would get the same sauce again, on the side. The Mac n Cheese was thick, creamy and peppery. The coleslaw was my top coleslaw of all time.
