The staff are all super friendly and very knowledgeable about birds and other backyard friends. This store is even pet friendly so your well-behaved dog can shop with you.

I have not seen this many feathered friends in quite awhile. I have grown up always having a parrot or being around them. They had an African Grey which was pretty shy and timid but its cage was lower so i'm sure it didnt like that. Also a Macaw which was friendly and wante attention without any lunging towards you. Quite a few conures of a different few types being friendly and inquisitive as usual. The budgies were super friendly and would join in whistling with you. There were even a couple of (what looked like) Yellow Headed Amazon parrots but they were pretty shy so they might had been young but looked in very good health. Other things of note would be some spikey boi hedgehogs and even a chinchila.

Every animal I've adopted here (3 now) has either had wringworm, fleas, or both…read more I was charged with a $50 fee that is non refundable and now they're trying to offer me a $20 credit for an animal infested with fleas. Why on Earth would I want to adopt another animal from this facility given the gross negligence? What respectable animal shelter doesn't confirm/test for these kinds of issues prior to putting an animal up for adoption? I'd also like to add that the front desk staff (the welcome desk, not the folks in the back - they are very friendly) are incredibly rude. Consistently every time I've come in here, the social skills and public service has been horrific. I will no longer be adopting pets from this facility. They set the animals up for failure.

We are currently doing the…read moretraining for K9 good citizen certification, the class was a fair price and the teachers are amazing with the dogs, so knowledgeable and friendly! We also recently adopted a dog, the process was easy, the adoption counselors were easy to talk to and took the right steps for the introduction of our resident dogs and the new one. We received a collar and leash, food, all vet records, and information for any problems with behaviors or heath. I want to add that the shelter does a good job of providing enrichment and support for the animals. They make sure to have as many dogs and cats in the individual, quiet kennels as possible, which really helps them relax. The NHS is also a partner with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a sanctuary located in Kanab, UT and whose main goal is to help the USA become NO kill. This is HUGE for Omaha!!
