They sold me a pleco with an obvious wound on it on Jan 30. The fish finally passed today and I have a picture from the day I brought it home that it had something wrong with it. I called and they said since it was past 48 hours that the fish died there's nothing they are willing to do for me after spending 70 dollars on a fish that lasted 10 days in a perfect tank where everything else is thriving. I really knew nothing about starting an aquarium when I walked in when I left I had purchased a small aquarium for a Betta fish and lots of instructions on how to plant the plants in the tank and to take care of the fish. This place is incredible. I was in town for work; there is nothing remotely close in my area. The selection was beyond impressive. All the tanks were clean, all the fish appeared healthy, and all were in appropriately sized and stocked tanks. There were indications all over the store that they do things the right way. Each Betta was in a well sized tank (not a cup!), for example, and there were signs throughout the store directing customers to do the tough things that few do such as quarantining. Any unique care requirements were also clearly displayed. I've also never seen such a large selection of supplies, including what must have been every product sold by Seachem. They had a lot of tanks for sale, and most non-cichlid freshwater tanks had multiple types of plants. Omaha: give this place your business. read more

It looks like a small store when you walk in, then you see there's a huge area in the back split between salt and fresh water tanks/fish and plants. These guys are truly Fish Freaks! The selection is awesome with a large variety to choose from: both fresh and saltwater. They know a lot about fish and can field your aquarium questions; easy ones or more complex. Not sure about what's going on with your tank? I can't recommend any other company in the Omaha area other than Fish Freaks! I have been to all of them. Had a horrible experience at one of the other salt water businesses in the Omaha area. Came in today to upgrade my tank, and the staff, quality, and selection are unreal! They had knowledgeable answers to all 9,000 questions I had, helped me get the perfect supplies, and never made me feel pressured to purchase anything (which is the best quality in a retail environment, personally). Every once in a while I visit this store for some of my aquarium needs . Although I do notice some of the prices are a tad higher then other stores you can get everything at one stop and not have to go to a bunch of different places . For the most part the staff will leave you alone so if you do want a plant , fish or anything that requires assistance it may take a while . I can walk through the fish area for a long time with zero associates asking if you need help they somewhat just ignore you . The tanks are definitely clean and are constantly being maintained so you k ow they really do care about the fish they are keeping . They have a large variety of rock and wood which does take a while to go through to find the perfect piece you may want . I also love the fact they do have a large variety of plants available to put in your tank . Love the store just wish the staff was a little more Invested in walking around and helping customers and not hanging out at the counter . read more

The first time we ever stopped in the store I wasn't impressed. No one ever acknowledged we were in the store. We went in a 2nd time to find something that we couldn't find at the other pet stores. The staff didn't even know what we were talking about. We found what we were looking for on line but needed it now. Need less to say we ordered it off line. The next time we were just browsing but once again no one acknowledged we were there. Yesterday we went in to look at fish to buy. We were finally helped but they were very rude. There was a fish that obviously something was wrong with it. Asked the person helping us if there was something wrong the fish & was told the fish looked fine to them. So against my better judgement we got the fish because my husband liked it & it was the only one that color. This morning when we went to feed the fish, the fish was dead. Remind you 3 of the 8 fish we got were in the same tank & the other 2 are still alive. I will NEVER be shopping at this place again. The staff is rude!!! Excellent fish store! We went in for an angel fish and they had plenty to choose from. We walked around the entire place and really enjoyed it. They have a wide selection of both salt water and fresh water fish. The guys who helped is out was very knowledgable and was able to advise us on fish to add to our tank besides the angels. This is mainly a fish store. By that I mean that they are not heavily stocked in fish care accessories beyond the basic chemicals and food. They have a couple small shelves packed with the essential chemicals, food etc. However the majority of their inventory is the reef fish and tanks. Prices seemed okay but they didn't have what I needed (Purigen in the bag). The girl behind the counter wasn't too well educated on the Seachem price structure or product line. She told me it's cheaper to by the Seachem bag ($10) and a bottle of loose Purigen from them. Purigen in the bag can be regenerated and costs $9.99. You do the math. my frustrations with fish freaks started months ago when I called the store to ask about them buying items from me. the guy I spoke to on the phone said "yes come on in". when I arrived I brought my stuff in (and without even having my stuff looked at) I was told that they don't buy used equipment. which is a total lie. they have a used equipment section with some of the items I was trying to sell only mine were all new in box. so I left and decided to write a review of the store reflecting my experience. I was contacted by the store owner Mike and told I would be apologized to by the employee that had lied to me and that I would receive some in store credit as compensation. I went into the store today and he was busy with setting up Betta tanks so i told one employee I was waiting for him and she went to tell him, I kept browsing deciding all the fish I was going to buy and told another employee I was waiting for him still and she also went to tell him instead of coming to me he helped other customers that had came in way after me. I waited to talk to him for a good 30 min until I decided that this was going nowhere only to walk to the front and realize he was just leaned against the counter chatting. I left the store and messaged him and all he had was excuses and to tell me I was wrong. I will never shop at this place again and I really hope everyone else won't either. I have asked info about fish on too many occasions only to get "I don't know" as an answer. The store is full of uneducated and rude employees, steer clear of this place is my only suggestion. not that awesome of a selection and through the roof prices. read more

last wed i went in and worked with Lisa. i explained to her i have a 135 gallon tank i use to have a ton of African peacocks it. i have slowly thinned it out to make a switch to central american. i ended up buying 86 fish for a total of $685. while picking out fish i kept asking Lisa if my tank was able to support this many fish at once and if i was going to throw my bio load off. Lisa said no my tank will be fine as long as i buy some stability and put it in there. i did with in a week all but 5 of the fish died. i called and then brought in some water for them to test. mike the owner said i had a nitrate spike and that's what killed the fish. when leaving Lisa told me mike yelled at her saying she never should have sold me that many fish. but what did they do for me? they said it was OK for me to have that many fish and all they do is give me a python and a water test kit and i still had to pay $40 out of pocket. well i learned a valuable lesson. all they care about is selling you as much as possible and not whats best for your tank or your fish. well now i need to restock this tank but i cant because i already spent all my fish money. i highly recommend using any other fish store in the Omaha area. read more
