I got the call around 4:00 that he's ready and I could pick him up. I couldn't wait to see his fresh new summer haircut! I was so, so very embarrassed with what the groomer told me. He said they couldn't cut around his face, he was way too aggressive. He really isn't an aggressive dog at all. He's had most of his teeth removed, so couldn't be aggressive by biting. I thought they did a great job on his body, and he smelled so fresh and clean. His head was a bit uneven because he was wiggly. They didn't charge me for this haircut, that was pretty embarrassing too, they worked on him for a long time. They didn't even want to accept my tip. I truly appreciate their honesty and their hard work. I'm going to work on fixing the unevenness my self. I recommended Petco of Avon even if I won't be returning here. My first time in I was surprised that the prices were not at the usual "we are in the Farmington Valley so lets screw them" levels. I was also really surprised how many of the customers they knew by name. Nothing speaks as well of a business as having such long term customers that you know many on a first name basis. I big plus for me is that they have a large selection organic gardening supplies. More than anyone in the area and at fair prices. (Not to get off track but if you vegetable garden you get better yields and quality if you go organic. I made the switch several years ago and haven't looked back.) Bidwell's also has that true garden center atmosphere. Garden stuff, fireplace stuff, bird stuff, and even a friendly cat that sleeps in the box of peat pots. In short, a good friendly place that may just have that odd yard, garden, or pet thing you are looking for at OK prices.

Someone told me about Thomaston feed and how I might want to switch foods. So I went over to Cheshire one day and Nicci switched me to different brand of food called natures variety. She said because it's a richer food, I don't have to feed as much. My dog was overweight at the time so she told me to feed him a little less. Which is perfect because I have dachshunds and it is dangerous for them to be over weight because they are prone to back problems. Within a week of them being in the new food, they stopped smelling. I couldn't believe it. When we ran out of the Natures Variety, my father started feeding them pedigree without my knowledge and I noticed them smelling again!! And sure enough I found out they had been eating something different. There is no denying that there are good and bad foods out there for your dog. And Nicci is very passionate and will take the time to explain the difference between the different foods. And it turned out she was right! My dogs are older now. I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old and they are now extremely healthy and active!

My 9 month old puppy had recently determined he no longer enjoyed his Stella & Chewy raw coated kibble, so I brought him into WAGS to see if I could find an option for him that he did enjoy. Ken gave Bard, my puppy, a couple of different samples to try. Eventually it was determined that Bard didn't like any dry kibble, but loved raw meat. Susan also helped to verify this. (Susan and Ken have a slightly different technique in helping you find the right food for your pet) They were both so helpful and had a wealth of knowledge.
