She was so nice on the phone and was very informative from the haircut itself to the cost and the directions to the business. Her assistant Christina is very knowledgeable and super friendly. She does have cats but it didn't seem to bother any of my dogs or bother her while she was working. She took her time and you can really tell that she enjoys working with animals. The location is ideal for Niskayuna, Schenectady, Rotterdam, Altamont and Scotia residents as it is on Dodge Street for all grooming needs including cats and dogs. When it's time for pickup, a friendly call informs you that your dog is ready, returned to you gleaming and gorgeous, accompanied by a debriefing of any concerns. They are my first-line defenders when it comes to Saydee's overall health, including her body, teeth, fur, and ears. Appointments can be challenging to secure because they are that good, which is why I book mine for the entire year. Monthly visits work best for me, and I gladly drive 35-45 minutes each way because I wouldn't trust anyone else with this task. A word of caution regarding any unfavorable reviews: They are poppycock. Professionalism isn't always warm and fuzzy and f you would rather hear flattering words while dealing with sloppy grooming, tardiness, and inconsistency, go somewhere else. I took my maltese here for boarding and grooming for almost 16 years (my dog just passed). In this time the cost for a grooming only went up three dollars and some change! I was always happy with his cut and reasonable time it took for him to be groomed. Amy used to groom him, she was the best. My dog always came out with a big smile on his face. The staff are ALL beyond kind and considerate towards my dog and I. I boarded him at least once or twice a year (for 10 days) in the suites with the webcams. You must book early for these on holidays. I loved checking in on him and watching him play in the doggie day care (while I missed him on vacation). The staff are attentive to any medications and/or dietary needs, and will call you if there are any major problems while boarded. This business is so great that there is a strong following of people who keep it really busy, so plan ahead for a grooming and boarding. It will be worth it. I totally recommend Pet Spas and Suites. They are so personable and caring. This isn't run like a corporate pet store where you never see the same people again the next time you come in, the crates are half the size at the corporate chain pet store. I went once and they were rude. I had a friend whom the corp. chain didn't take notes on her dog who had a hip problem (nor did they listen to the owners) and the dog ended up getting hurt- requiring surgery- costing thousands of dollars and pain and suffering to her dog. That would never happen at Pet Spa. It will be sometime before I get another pup but I know where I'll be taking him/her when I do. I will miss the Pet Spa & Suites family until then. When I bring him there he gets so excited and the groomer always follows my requests, honestly better than I expected. I think after this long she just knows what I like. The previous place never trimmed his snout enough, and he literally grows his snout so quickly I really appreciate that. If Bruce Bruce can't see, he misses the couch a little when he jumps up. He also always comes home so floofy!! It's my favorite part. I wish I had her skills to get him so fluffy and nice! He always smells fresh and clean too, and thankfully whatever they use isn't overpowering or anything.
