I saw Dr. Wiggins because Dr. Byrd and Carol Lynn were both out of the office. I will never do that again.
I can see why other reviewers think he's nice or chill - he seemed like a nice enough man in general. But I felt that he couldn't have cared less what was wrong with me. I told him my symptoms, and he said my lab test said I didn't have so-and-so. I had to prod to get him to ponder other possibilities, but seriously, he may as well have shrugged and walked out.
I understand and appreciate not wanting to prescribe meds willy-nilly. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be curious about the cause of symptoms if it's not the thing the patient thought it was likely to be.
He got sidetracked (and I was a somewhat willing participant) in a more general "maybe you're gluten-intolerant" conversation that wasn't related to my most pressing symptoms. I'm not saying he's not potentially onto something, but when I was like, "I may look into that later, but will that help what's bothering me right now?" He was like, "Eh."
I prodded further, "I mean, should I see a specialist?" And his answer was the equivalent of "I guess so." (I'm not exaggerating, I just don't want to claim I'm actually quoting him when I don't remember if those were his very exact words.)
So I called back a couple of days later because my symptoms were getting worse, and the nurse said my lab test showed something else he completely left out when I was there! She was able to coordinate with Dr. Byrd to get me medicine I actually do need. Wow. So glad I called back.
I've said before that I hate publicly slamming people, because I really don't want to be malicious toward someone's business when things are rarely black-and-white. BUT... how could you not bring up the full results of my test. Even if you feel there's a valid argument against medicating, I deserve to be in on that discussion. read more
