**Well, I guess I'll add my experience to the growing collection of unhappy customers. At least…read moreNorthwest Viking Roofing is consistent.** I hired them for the approximately $15,000 roof on my brand-new home in Ocean Shores. They agreed to install stainless steel flashing. What did I get? Galvanized steel. Surprise! It took about two weeks to get the incorrect flashing removed and replaced, delaying my gutters. Meanwhile, rainwater pouring off the roof caused erosion around my new construction that I now get to pay to repair. A lovely complimentary upgrade. Then came the creative accounting. First, they tried to charge me about $400 because **they miscalculated the roofing squares.** Apparently their measuring mistake was supposed to become my bill. Now they claim I owe another $1,300. For what? Your guess is as good as mine. They haven't explained it. Based on the timing, I suspect it may be related to replacing the flashing they incorrectly installed, but they haven't confirmed that. But my absolute favorite part: I paid them **$7,320 IN CASH.** I asked for a receipt. Their written response? **"As soon as you pay us the rest of the money which is $1300."** Apparently receipts are now behind a paywall. I dispute owing them $1,300. That shouldn't prevent them from documenting $7,320 they already received. So after spending roughly $15,000, I have erosion to repair, a disputed bill, no receipt for a huge cash payment, and concerns about what removing and replacing the wrong flashing may have done to my brand-new roof. Building a house has taught me a lot. I just never imagined **"Please install the materials we agreed on, don't charge me for your measuring mistakes, and give me a receipt when I hand you $7,320 in cash"** would be considered unreasonable. Anyway, **add my complaint to the list.** I regret hiring Northwest Viking Roofing and would not hire them again.

So, a few weeks ago a local handyman I know contacted GT for me and their estimator was out a week later. We negotiated a great deal, signed a contract that day and scheduled the work to be done whenever the wind and rain finally took a break. That day was today! The GT crew showed up at 8 AM and worked as a coordinated team of roofing ninjas. They tore off the old comp, replaced rotted plywood over the eves, laid down new laminated "paper", hand nailed the new much more attractive modern style composition roofing shingles, the old roof ridge vent, the boots around the plumbing vents, added flashing, and, naturally, they cleaned up every speck of debris from the tear-off. The last truck rolled away just before 1 PM, so in less than 5 hours they did an impressive job from start to finish. My husband and I couldn't be happier about the incredibly professional work GT Roofing did for us!
